Closer to the beach than lots of ocean front homes, this fabulous second row beach house has great views of the water. Your boardwalk is directly beside the house and takes you to the beach, just steps away.
Open floor plan with vaulted ceilings in living and dining rooms providing stunning views and access to the deck where you will see shrimp boats and watch the dolphins play. Large dining table for 8-10 and bar with prep sink and 5 stools are great for a big gathering.
A spacious master suite with screen porch is located on the main level. Upstairs are three bedrooms and two baths: one is a 2nd master with queen bed and a deck with spectacular sunrise views. Two bedrooms are furnished with twin beds with trundles (sleeping 3 each) and open to a covered porch for views of the bridge, marsh and sunsets. The sitting area has a sleep sofa. Each bedroom has a TV.
Harbor Island is a gated community offering many amenities including large pool, baby pool, play ground, fitness room along with tennis, basketball and volley ball.
You can spend your days enjoying the wide beach. Take a walk and see all the birds that enjoy Harbor Island as well as dolphins playing close to shore. Walk down Harbor Drive and observe the osprey and egrets and you may spot a family of turtles and even an alligator (behind a large fence). Hunting Island State Park is just 2 miles away with wide beach, wooded trails, lighthouse, nature center and fishing pier.
There are many golf courses in the area where you can call for tee time, the closest being Fripp Island, only four miles away.
Since the historic town of Beaufort is only twenty minutes away, you can drive in for lunch or dinner and to walk through the lovely streets admiring the gracious homes and shopping in the unique shops and galleries. Day trips could include Charleston or Savannah.
We hope you will love Harbor Island as we do - no crowds, noise or traffic, just a gorgeous place to relax and enjoy.

We enjoyed every moment at the big yellow house. We had 4 generations of family stay under one roof and had a blast. The house had plenty of room to connect as a family,or to escape to a peaceful porch area to read and relax. The large dining room table was great for eating together or playing multiple games at once. The view of the beach and water where great- we enjoyed sunrise and sunsets from the deck or from the beach, just a few steps away. The kitchen was great, with plenty of room and the new appliances were very nice.
A big fridge, and five burner stove were great!
The house is located very close to the beach. You have to stay up on the hi tide/low tide chart, because high tide covers the entire beach! When high tide hit,we went to the pool. The pool was a very comfortable and well laid out. I would recommend driving to the pool
We rented bikes, kayaked, went for long walks on the beach, found neat things like, horsehoe crabs, puffer fish ,hermit crabs, and we're able to witness the release of 17 leatherback turtle hatchlings on the beach-don't miss this!
Beaufort is close and a neat little town to visit with a beautiful waterfront park and great places to eat
Visit Barefoot Bubbas for t-shirts and free ice cream ( no catch!)
We also found the staff and people in the area to be very friendly and relaxed
We would highly recommend Harbor Island and the big yellow house!
We really liked the "Yellow House" as it has been referred to by others. It was just as described with ample everything that was needed by us during our stay . Things we really appreciated (being that we are a family with 6 children that cooks in, is: *abundant and functional cookware in the kitchen - new fridge that by the way, never ran out of ice:O), plenty of linens for everyone!, the cleanliness and comfort of the home was exceptional, and the view was very nice! So easy to get to and from the beach - yes, not really beachfront, but so much closer than 2nd row (in reality, we have rented oceanfront homes that have not been as close to the water as this home is) This home truly is "steps from the beach" - only taking seconds to walk from the door to the beach front. We did find that high tide is the best time to go to the beach to enjoy the best sandy bottom...Loved the wall of windows allowing the sun and views to dominate. Thank you again for the use of your lovely home!
Nice house, but very dirty and much in need of repairs. We fought flies, gnats and roaches the entire week. Had to clean most of the house before we could settle in. Also had to remove linens on some beds and wash before they could be used. Photo doesn't show a strange octagon shaped house between this house and the beach. Although this says ocean view, it is really located on the sound and beach is mucky at low tide. I would not recommend this house.
This was a wonderful place to stay. Close to the ocean and everything was perfect.
We had a wonderful stay in August at this beautiful home. The home was wonderfuly decorated and had a fabulous layout. we really loved the screened in porch and found the outside shower to be a wonderful benefit. The home was very clean and had everything one would need for a holiday away. It was a bit of a hike to the pool, so many times, we decided to drive. However, having the beach just steps away was wonderful. we loved watching the Dolphins swimming after the shrimp boats, and had the pleasure of seeing a real stingray. The highlight had to have been seeing the tracks of baby turtles that had hatched and run into the sea overnight. Thank you again for a wonderful vacation.
We had a wonderful time at the beach and the house was perfect for our family. Our family (5) plus my parents had plenty of space and we would've have plenty of room for a few more. There is plenty of outdoor seating with all the different porches, plus a screened in porch off the master bedroom downstairs that my parents used quite a bit for reading and playing Soduko. They are building a house next door but it did not bother us as we were not there during the day and the workers were gone by 5:30 and did not work on the weekend. The rooms were plenty big enough with lots of drawer and closet space in every bedroom. The furniture was nice in all the rooms. The kitchen had everything we needed and the towels for the bathrooms were nice. Much better than I expected with it being a rental. I always bring our own but did not even use them on this trip. You will not be disappointed, the pictures accurately reflect the appearance of the house. The beach is so close and it was great to be able to walk with the kids and all their stuff (and ours) without having to walk a city block. The pool was a bit of a walk for my 3 year old after playing on the beach and swimming but my 5 & 11 yr old enjoyed looking for alligators over the fence. It is very peaceful and family oriented so no booming music or wild parties to worry about. There are no restaurants within walking distance so you do have to drive if you want to go out to eat. We went to Dockside in Beaufort which was a 20 minute drive and was very good. Hunting Island State Park has a ton of walking trails but bring your bug spray! The owners were great and answered all my questions about the property, Hunting Island and Beaufort. I would definitely stay here again.
