Great family-friendly house!
This was the perfect site for a Thanksgiving getaway with 6 adults and 4 young kids. The rooms and bed options were terrific for young ones (although there were no rails on the bunk beds), and the large table was ideal for a large group dinner. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals. Living room was comfy for hanging out, and it was great to have a smart TV to watch Netflix/Hulu shows. The weather was lousy, so we didn't get to enjoy the outside much, but it would have made for an excellent place for kids to run around and explore. There was an odor problem when we first arrived - likely an animal had crawled in a vent - and there was some delay in responding to the problem since the usual property manager was on vacation. However, when she returned, she was extremely apologetic and responsive, and helped us come to a fair solution. I'd certainly stay here again!
A wonderful weekend!
We couldn't be happier with our stay at Thorndyke. Our two families have gotten together for a weekend every year for years and as the kids get older it gets harder to find the time. The house was comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked, the fire cozy on a very rainy weekend! We spent time exploring the estuary, watching eagles soar, salmon jumping, flocks of birds riding the waves in front. We loved watching the tide rush into the bay, and then to see what appeared when the tide rushed out. We ate and drank and talked for hours. We even got to see a submarine pass by down the Canal. We were so sorry to leave and promised ourselves to return soon.
Stay at Thorndyke
We enjoyed our stay so much are looking forward to staying again when the weather is nicer. Felt like home with a water view :)
Thank you so much for the great review. We enjoyed having you stay with us. We look forward to having you stay again in the future.
Scenic Property to enjoy with family and/or friends.
Lovely sunrise walks on the rocky shoreline. Great food shared around a huge table.
Wonderful time. Family wants to come back
We were attending a wedding in Port Townsend and needed a place to stay. I found this home and invited other family members to share it with us. Everyone of them loved it. It is quiet, great views, easy access to the beach, and just a wonderful place to hang out. The deck was a favorite. It is huge with a couple of large tables. This is where we hung out and enjoyed the views. If you decide to stay here, do follow the directions provided. Google maps will stop you about 2 miles short of the drive way. Also remember your Netflix password. No standard tv. Beds were comfortable, Just to reiterate, the extended family that stayed with us, loved it and will suggest this home for our annual family gathering.
Wonderful location, plenty of space for two families to share.
