*****The House*****

The house is ideal for 2 to 3 couples, or 2 couples with kids, or a family with parents/in-laws and kids, or 6 individuals. Up to 6 adults with small children can stay comfortably.

The house is 1614 square feet (150 square meters) with a soaring ceiling, plenty of gathering spaces, unique, warm, inviting, and kid friendly. It has a very functional layout: the bedrooms are on one side and the open space is on the other side. The open floor plan is ideal for family/friends gatherings and entertaining.

The house has:

A big family room/dining room with an open kitchen for gatherings and entertaining with family and friends. This open space is on the other side of the house, same as the backyard with the outdoor table and sofa. That makes the house very functional for resting and gathering.

Two spacious traditional bedrooms (king and queen size beds). The best quality mattresses are free from toxins and are hypoallergenic & dust-mite resistant. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. Both bedrooms have a reading corner.

One beautiful tatami room perfect for kids to play and for guests to sleep in (high-tech memory foam pads and bedding provided). It's perfect for Yoga and meditation as well (Yoga mats provided). This tatami room can also be a “work from home” station with a big desk and WiFi relay.

A super comfortable pullout sofa bed in the family room (bedding provided).

Two full bathrooms. Both bathrooms are full baths with all you need provided: hair dryer, toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner), high-end towels (three sizes), and toilet papers.

A laundry room with the best-rated front-loading washer/dryer (Laundry detergent provided), and iron board.

The Full (and fully equipped) kitchen is a gourmet cook’s delight. It has new stainless steel gas stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher; plus microwave, oven, toaster, coffee maker, blender, cookware (including a turkey set), utensils, wine-related tools, dishes and glassware. A Weber BBQ Grill is in the backyard. Everything you need to feel at home. The beautiful dining table can be extended to sit more than 8 people.

The private backyard is safe for kids to play in, and is a lovely spot for a quiet outdoor meal or an afternoon of lounging. The backyard has a comfortable sofa set, a BBQ grill, and a dining table. In the side yard, under the beautiful oak tree, there is a swing that can be converted into a hammock – it’s a perfect spot to read in the golden sunset in the afternoon. There are lemon trees and roses in the front yard and flowers/red leaves visited by the occasional humming birds in the back yard.

The house has Heat/Air Conditioning, air filter, free hi-speed Wi-Fi in every corner (with relay) and even in the backyard, gas fireplace, DVD player, ironing board, cable with a big screen TV, and a folder filled with vetted local info. All towels & linens are provided.

Ample parking: the front yard can park 2 cars off street.

Keyless entry.

The house is very kid friendly and family oriented! It has everything you need for kids of all ages: high chairs, baby bath, toys, books, DVDs, electric piano, and baby utensils. Pack-n-play and stroller are also available upon request. All tall furniture is fixed to wall for safety. The backyard is very safe for kids to play in. The swing in the side yard is every kid’s favorite. We have also provided a document with all info on the most kid friendly wineries, farmers’ markets, nearby Train Town, Safari West, and all the best family places.

The house is perfect for wedding guests! We've hosted many wedding guests before; they’ve all enjoyed our amenities (ironing board, big mirrors, etc.), capabilities (spaces to sleep for individuals and ample parking spaces), and flexibility. The house is also very close to most wedding venues.

*****The Local*****

The owners provide the best support – there will be a text line available for guests 24/7. Upon reservations, a set of local tips, including how to enjoy wineries, the best local resources (especially local restaurants), and a dedicated document for kids, will be provided.

Things to do in Valley of the Moon: wine tasting, going for weddings, sight seeing, hiking, shopping in the beautiful Sonoma Plaza and the nearby outlets, enjoying farmers' markets, taking private cooking lessons, hot air ballooning, biking, golfing, horseback riding, antiquing, eating everywhere from world class restaurants to local taquerias, wildlife viewing, enjoying spas, or relaxing in the sunny weather. Nearby there are the Infineon Raceway, Six Flags Marin World, Safari West Wildlife Preserve, Skate Park, Tennis Courts, Historic Sites: Bear Flag Monument, Charles Schultz Museum, the last of California’s 21 Missions, Sonoma Barracks and Historic Parks. There are also lots of great resources for kids including parks, playgrounds, museums, Safari, kid friendly wineries, and even a miniature railroad, to name a few. Sonoma is a very relaxed, down to earth place, it's full of a small town charm. You will always feel welcome in Sonoma.

About Lan Marvit

We are a family with small children who fell in love with the spirit of wine country. We found this house (with the protection one huge and magical tree gives the house) perfectly captures the relaxation, openness and energy that make Sonoma so unique. We are excited to share this with guests who will appreciate a truly special place.

Lan Marvit purchased this house in 2013

Why Lan Marvit chose Sonoma

Unbeatable location: We are near all the attractions and amenities Sonoma has to offer - world class wineries, luxury spas, golf courses, shopping, historic downtown, hiking trails in natural settings and through vineyards, world-class restaurants and local eateries, farmers markets and local fruit stand, museums and art galleries.

Spacious (1614 sqft): the master bedroom, the tatami room, and the space of the family room and adjacent open kitchen are all big, make it perfect for families and friends. The cathedral ceiling makes the space spacious in three dimensions.

Beautiful: the front, side, and backyard have all sort of flowers and plants; the unique and tranquil tatami room provides a romantic atmosphere; the whole glass wall lets the morning sunlight in, makes the dinning room and the kitchen enchanted.

What makes this house unique

Close to everything, and yet quiet and relaxed.

Minutes away from our favorite wineries - Imagery, Little Family Winery, Chateau St Jean, BR Cohn, Ty Caton Vineyards, Muscardini Cellars, and Cline Cellar.

Tatami room is beautiful and is full of smell of the tatami grass.

Local fruit stand down the road - they sell everything, all local stuff.

Local guide is provided.

Ample parking.

Kid friendly: The house has many kid's stuff and it's very safe for kids - all tall furniture is fixed to wall.

The house is fully stocked (especially the kitchen): we've put everything in place for guests to be completely at home.

Good for wedding guests: Close to wedding venues. The house has amenities and space for preparations for the weddings. Two off street parking spaces available.

Very clean, comfortable and relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I hosted Thanksgiving for his family in Sonoma in this home and it was perfect! The property owner was incredibly accommodating in allowing us to have dinner for 10 people and even contacted me a few days before to make sure anything I specifically needed to prepare Thanksgiving dinner was available at the house. We have stayed at several vacation rentals and this was absolutely among the top two cleanest I have ever stayed at, which is always a huge relief. We did not feel uncomfortable at all. The location is perfect and so quiet! We slept like we were in our own bed! Maybe even better! We would not hesitate to stay here again.

I also want to mention our very positive experience with Home Away in general. We had originally rented a larger house in Glen Ellen but after the fire my family’s plans changed and we went from a group of nine to a group of two. We felt horrible about canceling our reservations in the middle of this awful fire, but the property owner was incredibly gracious, and the Home Away process was very easy.

So homey and peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

We didn't exactly know what to expect with the recent fires, but on our trip from San Francisco to Sonoma we didn't see one remnant of the fire. We were a little nervous driving into the house because the neighborhood didn't seem the greatest, but none of that mattered once we got in. The house was clean, spacious, nicely decorated and very homey. Lots of great dishes, glasses, etc. The backyard was spacious, secluded and quiet. Grill was great! Lan was so accommodating and helped us to arrange a tasting. Go there!

Very nice home with up-dated kitchen and bathrooms. Lan communicated incredibly well prior to and during our stay. We had a lovely time and wish it could have been longer. No small children but clearly set up for their enjoyment.
