Stunning 3BR - Close to Dunes - Your own salt water pool too!!!

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 5 Daybeds, 2 Baths (sleeps 8)

This wonderful house is newly renovated with the grand luxury being TWO kitchens and a built-in heated salt water pool. 'Rosie's House' or sometimes called Gram's Cottage, is the result of a long time desire to have a place in Michigan for a family get together. The dream became a reality when this home was purchased and renovations started as well as the joy of shopping for furnishings. Every single item was bought with a lot of thought and pride for the guests that will stay in Rosie's House. The outcome of the first phase of remodeling has turned out well and my ideas and plans are, and will continue to become a reality.

As growing families always experience, gathering the entire family for weekend getaways is a major task. Camp, baseball, soccer, basketball games and practice occurs continuously as well as time off from work makes it now next to impossible for more than a few occasions a year at the cottage with my family. Therefore, rather than see this 'special place' not being enjoyed to it's fullest, it is time to offer for the first time to families the rental of 'Rosie's Cottage' for their getaways.

Over 1 acre of ground surrounds the house; all linens are provided; new 4 burner gas grill; central A/C as well as ceiling fans throughout the main level rooms. The lower level kitchen is ideal for pool meals and the upper level kitchen is ideal for breakfasts and gourmet dinners...even a convenient pot filler faucet to accommodate the experienced cook!

The Warren Dunes beach is within walking distance. And there are several other beautiful beaches in the area within close driving distance. There is so very much to do in Harbor Country.

When the day is over, spend the evening relaxing in the heated salt water pool. It's been said that the salt water is great therapy for arthritis. Also, a fire pit great for the 'smors' lovers! And a 12x24 Screened Porch that was just built last fall.

Why The Owner chose Southwest

I have spent many vacations in Sawyer and enjoy being there as often as possible.

What makes this house unique

Step out the back door to your very own pool!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time celebrating my retirement in this beautiful home. Rosemary seemed to think of everything. The house was so well stocked.

There were rafts for the pool, wood for the fire pit, plenty of towels, bikes in the garage, even bug candles to burn when we sat out in the evening. The kitchen had everything I could think of and more.

The screened in porch is amazing! We all loved sitting out here at breakfast. It was everyone's favorite part of the house.

There was so much to do nearby. We walked to Warren Dunes twice and rode bikes there as well. We went to several wineries and watched the sun set by the beach most every evening. We had a bon fire and a BBQ and spent as much time as possible lying on rafts and relaxing. We laughed and shared stories and made memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you Rosemary for mking this possible.

Secluded Paradise

In searching several websites I came across this gem of a home last year. Being in contact with Rosemary this past year I felt I got to know what this home means to her. Lovely does not even begin to describe this wonderful property. It's beautifully decorated with every personal touch you could imagine. It's one of those places where you feel at home right away. We would start our day by spending relaxing mornings having coffee on the screened in front porch, to relaxing in the afternoon in the heated saltwater pool. We finished our day after sunset all sitting around the fire pit laughing and sharing stories. When family time is so precious just being together, it's like Rosemary knew exactly what we were looking for. Vacation is always sad when it comes to an end, but knowing we'll be back next year will give all of us something amazing to look forward to all year long. Thanks again Rosemary!!

Owner's Response: Dear Terri: It's me who praises you and your family....after you vacated my home, it looked as if it was never occupied! I mean it....yes, I am very fortunate to have had almost every renter respect my home and you even more so. And what really made my day was seeing the apron you left (from Williams-Sonoma/one of my favorite stores) with the words inscribed "Rozie's Cottage". To have planned this.....having never been to my summer home....and brought it with you! How could you have known what to expect? And last, but not least, to tell me to keep your Security Deposit for next year. Now, that's a first....yes, I will and look forward to your return. Emily and family, Thank you for your heartwarming and kind words. Sincerely, Rosemary

A Gem of Property

  • 5 of 5

My husband and two small children had the opportunity to stay at Rosemary's cottage a few weeks ago. We are so thankful that we had the chance! Here is my best recollection of the layout. When you walk in you will see a large room that encompasses the kitchen and family room. The kitchen is a chef's delight. Definitely make yourself acquainted with all the cabinet contents. There is everything you need for your stay to make and serve meals. The family room is cozy and there are tvs in it as well as the kitchen (despite them being just a few feet apart). Also on the main floor is a fabulous screened in porch where we spent countless hours. The main floor has three bedrooms, simple and comfortable with plenty of closet space. The bathroom on the main floor has a double sink and is beautiful as well. Off the family room is a set of stairs down to the finished basement. There are two futons plus two twin beds. There is another tv in the basement as well as a lot of beach books and board games. There is also another full kitchen (we grabbed a lot of the plastic dishes from here cuz of our small kids) and another fabulous bathroom with a walk in shower that was divine. The pool. oh the pool. I wish I could have stayed hours in it. Just like Rosemary says, the salt water is magical. You will be thinking about it every time you step into a chlorinated pool. I always felt better after I swam. There are plenty of towels for the pool as well as the bathrooms. The washer and dryer worked perfectly--which is huge when you are constantly washing towels. The grill was so great. We cant say enough good things about Falatics butcher shop just around the corner--we grilled all the time because it was so exquisite. Beach access. I would advise driving to cherry beach. It was pretty secluded and quiet (unless you want a ton of people) and very easy to get to. You will be surrounded by nature: there is a family of deer that we saw multiple times a day as well as wild turkeys everywhere. So fun! I am trying to think of one flaw of Rosemary's place. The best I can come up with is that it is missing a recycling bin outside for all the water bottles, pop cans, etc. Other than that it was such a perfect cottage for our stay and we sincerely hope we get the chance to return. Oh and by the way, it is absolutely true that Rosemary is so easy to reach at a moments notice if you have any questions. Thank you Rosemary!

Owner's Response: Dear Andrea: Oh, you did such a nice review of my cottage. Thank you so much! And what is also gratifying, you took it upon yourself (without my asking) to post a review. Knowing how hectic it is returning home after being away for a period of time, it is almost impossible to take time to post a review of a stay. Therefore, I gave up asking. And here you are....with two little children, finding the time to write such nice words. Yes, I hope you return to my summer home for another "Pure Michigan Vacation". I would be remiss if I didn't thank you for leaving my home in such perfect shape.....other than the linens, it looked "check-in ready". Sincerely, Rosemary

Beautiful Home, Pool & Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family vacation at Rosie's Cottage. Three generations were represented, from age 16 to 80. We enjoyed the fine furnishings and design of the home. The pool and outdoor spaces were also extremely nice. The location was also in close proximity to many fun activities. The owner, Rosemary, was in contact with us prior to and during our stay to answer questions and to make sure all was well. We would highly recommend this rental and would gladly stay here again when in the area.

Our Moms Weekend was a huge success!!

  • 5 of 5

I can not possibly say enough positive things about this beautiful home. 6 of us moms decided to get away for a week and when we saw that this house had a pool, we just had to get it!! Although the weather was only nice enough for us to use it one day, we still had an amazing time in the area shopping at local antique shops, eating at the local restaurants and of course, the WINERIES!! This home is beautifully renovated and decorated but most of all, extremely clean and well cared for. If we all decide we ever need to get away again, this house will more definitely be the first thing I look into. You won't regret staying here!!

Owner's Response: Dear Ingrid: Thank you for your kind words on spending a "girls' getaway vacation" at my summer home. Sadly, the weather did not cooperate every day of your stay, however, glad you were able to enjoy what the area has to offer such as the wineries, restaurants, etc. and most of all, just enjoying the togetherness of friends. It is my sincere wish that you will once again come with your friends and or family for a stay at my summer home. Best regards, Rosemary

Amazing getaway with an owner who truly cares

  • 5 of 5

Often, when you rent a home on VRBO, the place doesn't live up to the photos, or the "missing" rooms in the photo set are missing for a reason. That is NOT the case with this home - the gorgeous photos don't do it justice! Rosemary has done an amazing job updating and maintaining this home, and we were all so impressed with the design, furnishings, cleanliness, and amenities provided.

The pool is the gem of this place - clean, warm, and no chemical/chlorine smell. Our kids spent every day swimming and splashing, and we spent quite a few evenings grilling dinner on the back patio. Additionally, the main kitchen and the bathrooms are immaculate and well-appointed - and the second kitchen on the pool level is an outstanding plus! The screened-in porch was also a plus - a great place to have a cup of coffee in the morning or an after-dinner drink. Finally, the location is fantastic for quick trips to the beach (Warren Dunes is stunning), local breweries/distilleries, and nearby towns.

It's obvious that Rosemary cares about this home and goes out of her way to make her renters' experience enjoyable. She was amazingly responsive to any of our questions or requests, and we cannot wait to return! Thank you for making this trip one of our best vacations ever!

Owner's Response: Dear Lisa and family: Words cannot express my gratitude for such an outstanding review. But most important, guests as yourselves is why I continue another year to rent my home. And even more appreciative was I when your guest who was impressed with my home during his visit with you, called to rent my home for a later date this year. Now that's an added compliment! I am so pleased that you all enjoyed your stay and it is my sincere wish that you return once again....and if you do, my records of your rental will reflect how very special of a family you all were. Best regards, Rosemary

Great beach house with pool

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful stay here with three young children. The pool and outdoor area were an absolute hit with the kids - we had to convince them to go to the beach! The salt water pool was lovely on the skin and eyes, and there were plenty of towels and water toys to keep everyone happy. Loved all the outdoor seating for lounging and dining, with the second kitchen right next to the pool! The renovated upstairs kitchen was beautiful, and stocked with quality pans and ample kitchen tools to create every kind of feast. The bedrooms and bathroom were exceptionally nice. My favorite space was the screened porch, which was the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee and listen to the birds. I loved that the house is situated in a quiet neighborhood without many cars passing by, but close to the beach. There is a great fruit and vegetable stand within walking distance, where we picked up most of our produce each day. Warren Dunes, which is just up the road, has a nice beach with lots of hiking trails. Cherry Beach, a short drive, is a rather special spot worth visiting. The owner was very responsive and personable, and made our stay that much better. We all agreed that we would like to return!

Owner's Response: Dear Alison: My most sincere thanks to you for the kind & complimentary words about your family's stay at my summer home. And so glad you enjoyed the screened in porch. It's a comfortable and quiet place for morning coffee as well as a secluded place to read. I would be honored if you would once again plan another "Michigan Getaway" at my home.
