Great location comfortable home

We .enjoyed the character of the home. It was spacious and in a great location to enjoy a beautiful park across the street as well as historic Sarasota with wonderful happy hours.Close to 2 breweries, farmers markets on Wed,Sat, and Sun in different locations. Would definitely recommend

Fantastic

Loved our time at the Birdhouse! Katherine is great! Communication was excellent from the start to the end. The location is wonderful for everything Sarasota! We enjoyed baseball, beach, dining, farmers markets and much more! Thanks Katherine for sharing your home!

Wedding Daycare

My wife and I stayed here with our 1-yr old grandson while our daughter attended a wedding at a nearby hotel. The house was great in that it had the 3 separate bedrooms with bath. My daughter stayed one night and my sister in law stayed another. So it accommodated us great! Being close to the park and being able to walk to Publix or to the waterfront was perfect for stroller walks with my grandson. Check in and communication was prompt and to point. Would stay again!

Beautiful house, great location, fabulous host!

We visit Sarasota 3-4 times per year and almost always rent houses. We've been doing this for about 35 years (since our parents moved down here). This was one on the most unique houses and best all-around experiences that we've had.

Thanks to the perfect host

Renting Kathryn’s home was a real pleasure. Kathryn greeted us at check in and made us feel very comfortable. She was very quick to respond to our questions. The home is old Florida funky….in a good way. It’s SO close to lots of attractions. We stayed there over two months and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay.

Birdhouse Bungalow

We stayed 4 days/night, 6 adults. It was perfect. Well equipped and comfortable. All three couples agreed that having a bedroom with bathroom was Definately a plus for three couples. However, all that stayed thought the large livingroom/kitchen area accommodated our group perfectly. All of us would Definately stay again.

Mini-Vacay

This beautiful Historic bungalow is just perfect. all of Florida historic charm and beyond. The Bird-House Bungalow was so comfortable and decorated beautifully with all types of Vintage historic art work and memorabilia. very easy location to accessing all of the best dining and the trolley system to take you most anywhere you would want to go. If I ever get a chance to visit Sarasota again I would definitely pick this lovely home. And Ms. Katherine was just Lovely.

Wonderful house and host

We stayed at Birdhouse Bungalow for a week and loved it. The house is beautifully and uniquely decorated and peaceful. Katherine was a great host as well. She met us when we checked in and showed us the house and answered questions we had about the area. Our daughter is a freshman at a nearby college and plan to rebook whenever we come to town.

Happy and Inspired

After staying at the Birdhouse I'm ready to redecorate my entire home! The owner's artistic flair is evident throughout the home - from the walls to the linens to the backsplash in the kitchen (check out the pieces of Ringling Hotel dinner plates hidden within the tiles). It was like staying in a fun museum, something new to notice each day! Beyond the decorating, the home was warm, clean and inviting. We couldn't wait to get back from our races each day to settle down, make a nice dinner and enjoy a glass of wine in comfort. The neighborhood is quiet and there are loads of great little restaurants and a grocery in close proximity. Plus, Lido Beach, Ringling Museum and Sarasota Airport are within a 10 minute drive. We all agree, we can't wait to come back!

Fantastisch

Den bereits vorhandenen Beiträgen kann ich nur zustimmen. Das Haus ist einfach toll. Catherine ist sehr nett und hat immer sofort auf Nachrichten geantwortet. Man kann alles zu Fuß erreichen. Our favorite stay ever...

First of all, let me say it was impeccably clean and Katherine was extremely hospitable and accommodating. But on top of that this is the most interactive rental we've ever stayed in. Katherine has taken the time to decorate (almost curate) this property with local artifacts and memorabilia. We learned so much about Sarasota from the many books and pieces of art highlighting the local wildlife, plants, Florida history, and more. There were framed photographs and even a Viewfinder with Sarasota slides for the kids. This house is very open and airy. We had three couples staying here and each had their own bed and bath with plenty of space and privacy. Lastly, we had a blast each morning running out to see if the mango tree had dropped fruit for us to have with our vacation breakfast...and every day it did. We WILL stay here again, you won't regret booking the Birdhouse Bungalow.

A great vacation!

The house is just as described and the owner is very responsive to any needs. There was plenty of space for a family of 5. We enjoyed the kitchen literally equipped with everything you may need to cook a great meal!

Relaxing

The house was unique. Each day it seemed like we noticed something different in the house. It's a quiet neighborhood which allowed us to get a good night sleep each night. We were on the go a lot and the location of the house was so close to many of the places we wanted to see.The house had everything we needed. We especially liked that there were 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. Most places had 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Definitely would stay there again.

Visit for New College Musical

Exceptionally beautiful older home in a great location for walking around downtown Sarasota. New College is an easy short drive. We’ve stayed in many VRBO’s and this house was one of our favorites. Homey without being cluttered. Clearly a loved home. Unbelievably clean for a historic home. Well stocked kitchen, bathrooms. Comfy beds. Great park right across the street for walking the dog. Publix less than 2 blocks. Bay with beautiful sunset about 3.5 blocks if you are good and walk to the crosswalk to cross Tamiami. Responsive host. Lovely outside patio for reading a book and chilling. Everyone in the family from 20 to 80 commented on what a nice place this was to stay. Already booked it again for graduation next year. But if you are planning a trip to visit your kid at New College or any of the other nearby schools, this is a great place to stay.

Beautiful home in a great location

Had a wonderful stay! Katherine met us even though we arrived late and gave us a tour and information about the area. The house and property are beautiful. The area is fantastic and we appreciated that we could walk down town but were far enough away that the evenings were quiet and peaceful. Amenities were great, including the beach gear. We wanted for nothing.

Bird House Bungalow Vacation

The Bird House Bungalow is an amazing house. You will definitely find a Bohemian "splash" in every room of the house. The longer you stay the more treasures you will discover. Catherine was the absolute best hostess. She thinks of every detail to make your stay comfortable. A five star experience!

December Golf Trip

Love Sarasota. We had a wonderful time with 30+ years of friendship in our small group. I loved the house and the location was fine. We flew into SRQ which made our trip to the house in 10 minutes. Love the access to downtown, St Armands, and new retail and restaurants off University Parkway off 75. Traffic was breeze, nothing compared to how challenging the trafic is in South Sarasota. We will be back.

A Sarasota resident for 65 years, raised on Siesta Key I consider myself a preservationist for Sarasota History and the environment. Art and gardening are my passions. My first endeavor with rehabilitation was another Sarasota Bungalow in1996. Sweet Mango Manor was my next rehab. I moved the Birdhouse to its current location in 2006. It was a joy to rehabilitate and now I share it with special guests that love the history!

Children's playground, tennis courts, and a wonderful walk able community! A City fringe neighborhood is the perfect location for walking and biking to experience the rich culture, history, and extraordinary number of assets this small city has!
