Boulder Cottage. Beautifully renovated & close to everything the city and mountain environs have to offer!

This circa 1900 cottage is located just four blocks from the heart of Boulder and the Pearl Street Mall. Located in the historic Mapleton Hill neighborhood, this 2 bedroom, 1 ½ story home is only 4 blocks from Mt Sanitas hiking trails, Boulder Creek biking & running paths, North Boulder Park and a few extra blocks from Alfalfa’s Market as well as the Ideal Market/ Community Plaza shopping center. All can be reached via bicycle or foot- and that doesn’t begin to cover all the restaurants, shops and other amenities nearby. You can rent a car, but don't really need one unless you intend to drive to the mountains or down to Denver for a larger city 'fix'. This can be your car- free get away!

Summertime fun is close by; including hiking, biking and running trails (Boulder County has over 400 miles of them!) and wintertime sports are only 45 minutes away for skiing or snowshoeing in the Indian Peaks Wilderness or at our local Eldora Ski Resort. Winter Park, Breckenridge, Copper & Vail are all within 2hrs. 15min of Boulder- depending on weather/ road conditions.

Yep, Boulder pretty much rocks if you’re an outdoor enthusiast or a foodie. We're home to many natural food companies as well as a burgeoning local food movement. The Boulder Farmer’s Market runs thru early November and picks up again in the spring.

The cottage:

• Fully renovated, custom kitchen with all dishware and appliances provided

• Recently renovated bathrooms, turn of the century décor updated with a modern Asian, eclectic mix.

• Wood floors downstairs, spacious eating areas and backyard garden (with fountain) that makes the cottage feel more European than turn- of- the- century Colorado.

• Two bedroom, one queen bed master and a standard size bed in the guest room. The sunroom can accommodate a futon or inflatable bed. There is a downstairs bathroom.

About Darvin Ayre

I'm a management consultant and have worked and traveled in many places across the U.S. and internationally. I initially chose Boulder as my home, nearly 30 years ago, when I was a young Colorado Outward Bound School instructor. Mesmerized by the phenomenal access to the mountains, deserts and rivers of the West- I spent my 20's & 30's basically living and working outdoors. After working for several Outward Bound Schools internationally, I returned to Boulder in 1991 to begin a consulting and training practice. It has the perfect combination of small city living, is close to a larger metropolitan area (Denver) and an airport that can get you anywhere you need. On top of that- its probably one of the most energetic environments you'd ever want to visit. Close to running, hiking, biking and climbing (for all levels) as well as great food and access to creative people who live here for a myriad of good reasons. Its cliche to those who live here and the thousands who visit every year- but it really is one of the best places to live (or visit) in the U.S... or anywhere, for that matter.

I chose to live here because its a community that attracts adventurous types as well as creative people pursuing their aspirations. I was lucky enough to buy a house near the foothills so I could jump on my bike or lace up my running shoes (between client calls) and still make it back for another appointment.

Excellent stay!

There really isn't anything else you need. Comfortable bed, good water pressure in shower, walk to pearl st and CU campus and a safe neighborhood. Darvin is always just a text or phone call away. I'd say the wifi could be upgraded as it was extremely slow and the range was poor. That should not be any reason to not stay here. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Cozy cottage perfect for a get-away

This is our second time staying at this cottage, and we love it! It's a cozy retreat after a day of exploring, Pearl St is a few minutes walk away, and if you have kids, there is a park one block away. The kitchen is perfect for coffee in the morning and cooking and sharing a meal at the end of the day. Darvin goes out of his way to make sure his guests are taken care of; during our last stay he came at night to shovel the snow on the walkway! This cottage is the perfect balance of walkability to the urban center of Boulder while providing a quiet retreat. We will definitely be back!

Thoroughly Enjoyed Our Stay

We were visiting Boulder to help our son move into the dorms at CU, and the cottage was perfect for our needs. Beautiful and safe neighborhood. Friendly neighbors. Parking was always available. We walked to Whole Foods and Pearl Street. Centrally located to get to other parts of town quickly by car. The home was comfortable, clean, nicely decorated and provided much needed relaxation at the end of each busy day.

Perfect location and comfortable home for a visit to Boulder

This home was a total find for our trip to Boulder. A quick couple of blocks walk from Pearl Street marketplace, it had everything we needed: comfortable and quiet patio out back for grilling and visiting, clean and cool sleeping spaces, and a charming front porch with swing to talk with neighbors and visit with the lovely Ginny (a neighbor's golden retriever). The kitchen is great if you hope to cook, although we took full advantage of all of the wonderful restaurants near by. At the end of the street is a perfect day hike. The owner also provided a street parking permit, which would have been very helpful if we had been there mid-week. Absolutely no worries about safety in this upscale residential neighborhood.

If you are so lucky, visit with the owner. A former executive with Outward Bound he offers a rich array of insight on which trails to hike, what restaurants are outstanding, and how to get the most out of your visit. No criticisms! Great find!

Great time! Great house!!

Our family of four stayed at this property while spending time in and around Boulder. Darvin (owner) was there to greet us and make sure we were comfortable and knew where everything was. He also provided a wealth of information on what to do while in town and around the Boulder area. We even texted him a few times for pointers on where to eat and where to buy groceries.

When we were at the house we enjoyed the front porch swing. Although we didn't spend much time in the backyard, it was very inviting and well shaded. The living and sleeping areas were nice, as well.

I'd highly recommend Darvin's house if you're visiting Boulder!

Boulder at you doorstep !

Our son was graduating and we needed not to spend time in cars or away from celebratory activities. We walked easily to all of the Pearl street festivities and enjoyed a warm quite place to crash after. We stayed and shared this space with daughter in laws parents and had plenty of room.
