Amazing spot...

This was a spectacular property, newly renovated with incredible views. The owner was super welcoming, communicative and thorough. My husband had business in San Francisco and we wanted to stay in Marin County, this was a perfect spot - 30 min from the city, but a beautiful short 5 min drive into Tiburon for shopping, dining and sights. The water views everywhere are incredible and the photos on the website don't do justice to the actual views from the flat. We had a beautiful and peaceful 3 days, grilled out using the amazing grill and dined overlooking the bay. The flat had all the great amenities and the huge picture windows gave views from the whole kitchen/open living area. Cozy and elegant.... would come back in a a heartbeat. Loved walking the streets and hidden little ways around the elegant hillside neighborhood. Really appreciated the return deposit same day as check out. Thank you Denise.... all the best !

Golden Gate Hideaway

I recently stayed at the Golden Gate Hideaway and just loved it! Denise and David are wonderful hosts. Booking was easy and Denise was super-responsive in her email communication right from the beginning. The property accurately reflected the description on the website. The Hideaway was easy to find with the instructions provided (though I brought a Satnav for trips to wine country and the coast). The home is nicely decorated with a lot of attention to detail and everything was clean and well-maintained. I loved the welcome basket and the information about the area was very useful. Just like in a hotel you are provided with shampoo, soap etc. You will also find basic cooking utensils- so you better go grocery-shopping after you have checked in. The kitchen is well equipped, the bed is very comfy and the views are spectacular (hands down - probably the best on the planet!). It is a quiet and cozy place and ideally suited for a couple who is looking for a peaceful place in the Bay area. I have been to S.F. quite often, but never stayed at such a nice place. I will definitely come back!

For a newbie on VRBO, exceeded our expectations!

LOVED LOVED LOVED this little slice of European Heaven! I considered writing a blah review to keep this place from becoming so heavily scheduled that it's not available to us whenever we want to get away for a few days! Really, the owner under-promised and over-delivered. All things Pottery Barn, Z-Gallery and high end Ikea, you will feel as if you are in a European flat--everything in the place is NEW! Decorated cozy, but with a spacious feel if that makes sense. Don't bother packing candles, most pantry items, games, soaps or lotions--they are all provided. Thick bath towels, fabulous throws to cuddle up with and exquisite bedding, you will get the relaxation and rest you are most likely wanting. We never ate out because the gourmet kitchen was too fun and romantic to leave. Highly recommended by the owner was to take a walk down Beach Road along the bay. It took us 90 minutes to walk a mile haha! There were so many things to stop and look at, take photos and enjoy -- don't miss this -- you may want to make Sams your destination for a cold one! The hike back up is a bit steeper, but definitely worth the effort. There's a supermarket right on Tiburon Blvd. called Woodlands that is probably the most awesome market I've ever shopped in. The cheese department is killer! I can't finish this review without talking about --- THE VIEW -- The floor to ceiling windows in this place allow you to see the Golden Gate from where ever you're standing in the kitchen and living area. The patio area is a place you will want to hang out with a cup of coffee in the morning or a nice bottle of wine in the afternoon. And maybe this is a good time to let you know about the brand new Kurig coffee machine (pods of coffee and tea provided). Denise, the awesome owner, really did a great job with this space. We left her peaceful and beautiful Eucalyptus-lined street feeling even more in love with each other than when we first arrived--and so will you. Enjoy!

A Spectacular Place All Around

I'm truly heartbroken to leave this amazing flat. Whether it’s the lights coming up on the Golden Gate bridge and in the city, the fog rolling over the Sausalito hills, the deer walking across the yard, the hawks circling above, the view is always a thrill. And you can watch it all unfold from every room. The layout is great for two and has its priorities straight, with a walk-in closet, roomy livingroom, and a large kitchen. When you start to work in the kitchen, it’s obvious that the owner, Denise, is a cook herself, as it’s one of the best equipped kitchens I’ve ever cooked in. The bathroom is thoughtfully stocked with necessities and things for pampering. Even spa slippers and wrap-robes! And the place was sparkling clean as if new with a very homey feel. The town of Tiburon is picture postcard cute with several fine waterfront restaurants. The Tiburon ferries are an easy, fun way to get to the best parts of San Francisco and Angel Island. As a host, Denise is a very likeable and super accommodating, ready with suggestions and quick to respond to questions during the day or night. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

Best View !!!

We especially enjoyed the beautiful view from the apartment, the outdoor terrasse and our daily walks through Belvedere. Easy communication with Denise, she took care of everything !! Nice set up of the apartment and well equipped. Queen Size bed a bit small for Swiss people :-) (not used to that) ... and for 5 weeks.

EVEN BETTER THE SECOND TIME AROUND

This was our second visit, and we enjoyed it even better the second time (see earlier review below) Golden Gate Hideaway provides a perfect setting for a couple to escape to a magical place. The apartment is perfect for two people, is wonderfully clean and attractively and functionally furnished, and is exceptionally well equipped with everything you might need. My wife and I love to cook and take advantage of the bounty of Northern California, and we had all the kitchenware and tableware needed. You might find these things elsewhere, but the view is truly exceptionally spectacular. It is a panoramic view from every room and the patio of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, The Bay Bridge, Alcatraz, Sausalito and the Marin hills, and the Bay itself with all its activity. One could be happy for a very long time just sitting and watching this spectacular sea and landscape unfold. Access to San Francisco and Napa Valley is easy and quick, as is the access to route 1 for sightseeing along the coast. Denise is a wonderful and caring owner who wants everyone to be happy, and goes out of her way to be helpful. She is very responsive and fun to know. We are already counting on our next return to GGH.

Spectacular View -- Wonderful Owner

We truly enjoyed our stay at Golden Gate Hideway. It’s a beautiful apartment (looks just like the pictures) with a spectacular view and the owner seems to have thought of everything to make us feel happy and welcome....starting with the welcome basket of fruit, biscotti, wine and fresh flowers. Everything was sparkling clean, well-stocked and organized. There was even a wrapped stick of butter in the refrigerator -- a brilliant and useful touch. My husband and I will definitely stay here again.

Luxurious and Peaceful

My husband and I spend a most comfortable week at Golden Gate Hideaway! The panoramic view is breath taking: the city of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, the town and marina of Sausalito - wherever you look there is something to see! The flat is clean, modern, and beautifully furnished. It is neat and very well equipped. We cooked indoors and also outside on the grill and found everything we needed. Candle-lit dinners on the patio with the soft glow of city and bridge lights in the distance was magical! Breakfast at the kitchen counter top was cozy and comfortable. The property, high on a hill overlooking the bay, provides nature's theater. We loved watching two hawks with their tremendous wingspan soar overhead, and the flash of color from the blue birds was so pretty, but the family of deer suddenly appearing seemingly out of no where are what give Golden Gate Hideaway its serenity. Denise stopped by to say hello early in our stay, and checked in with us through email several times to make sure we didn't need anything. We arrived to find a welcome basket with wine and snacks and a beautiful arrangement of wild flowers. There was also folder of information about the area including popular attractions, restaurants and shops. This is the rare property that is actually better than the photos! We would love to stay here again!

Wonderful home and setting!

It lived up to the listing description and much more! My husband and I stayed at this beautiful Belvedere home for 2 weeks and hated to leave. Not only were the views truly spectacular but the apartment was beautifully furnished, clean, very well maintained and completely comfortable. We had total privacy except for a family of deer who would occasionally lounge in our yard. We loved the setting in hilly Tiburon and would walk into town daily for a bit of exercise. We're sorry that Denise was out of town while we were there. We would have liked to have thanked her in person for her thoughtfulness. Boston,MA

Beautiful panoramic view !

We stayed at this beautiful 1 bedroom home for 10 days and really enjoyed our stay. The neighboring area is so peaceful and quiet. The location is not pedestrian friendly so taking a walk was a challenge for me unless my husband came along. With our busy and hectic work schedule we really needed to rejuvenate in serenity and we really appreciated that. This home is very clean, well organized and well thought-out on items visitors will need even an little as having a starch spray for your ironing. We met Denise, the owner who visits the unit once or twice a week. She was very accommodating, and friendly. The area is an older town so the homes may not be completely sound proof and sounds can be heard when owners visit upstairs but we didn't mind. It's a homey feeling overall. There are deer's roaming around the compound and in the neighborhood which we thought was an added beauty ! We would definitely re-visit when we can find the time to escape again! From Trinidad, CA

Great View! Deer visit almost every day.

Great view of Sausalito, Golden Gate Bridge, and down town San Francisco. The owner Denise has a nice taste of interior which was very comfortable for us. She was always attentive to our needs. A deer family visited us almost every day. They were resting sometimes for hours only 20 feet away from the living room if not closer. Every thing was very nice except for a few things. As a Japanese couple, we missed a bath tub. The place only has a shower. There are two sets of stairs that you have to go down from the street. So if you have heavy suite cases, it is a little bit of hassle but this is common in Tiburon-Belvedere area so what can I expect. Sometimes, you can hear people talking and walking upstairs but for the price and the view, you can dismiss it. It is so peaceful to watch the lights turning on in Sausalito and San Francisco across the Bay at dusk, sometimes with some fog that makes it even more beautiful. I strongly recommend this place.

This property was spectacular. The owner was very nice and actually left a "goodie bag" for us with wine, fruit etc. the property was well furnished, very clean, and the view was beyond belief. Excellent short stay vacation apartment

Well maintained property in a quiet location with an outstanding view. Loved the deers that strolled around outside the flat entrance. Has all amenities and the landlord is always at hand to provide anything missing or required in the flat. Had a lovely stay and look forward to returning in the near future.

A perfect getaway

What a lovely place to spend a weekend! The apartment was sparkling clean, beautifully furnished (one of the comfiest beds I've slept in!), and fully of all the amenities I could have asked for and more. The host left us a variety of refreshments, maps of the surrounding area, and a full stock of toiletries in the restroom. The kitchen was great for cooking. I wish we had gotten around to using the barbecue pit outside, but we were too comfy relaxing inside on the couches. The view is incredible, even better and more expansive than it photographs. Would absolutely visit again!

Golden Gate Hideaway

A very elegant modern one bedroom home, well appointed, immaculate, and even better than the photos suggest. The view of the bay and Golden Gate is incomparable. We felt we had a window on Paradise: the constant movement of gargantuan freighters in contrast with the many sailboats catching the wind. The hills are lush populated by colorful birds and deer grazing outside your door. Denise Ellison is a most gracious host who is eager to assist with anything you may need. My wife Paula and I will certainly return. This is a hidden gem

A little slice of Heaven

This was a spectacular home to stay in while we were visiting family in Tiburon for 3 weeks. It felt like an oasis after busy days with the grandkids and their parents. The unit was very well appointed and decorated and supplied us with great comfort besides all the kitchen items we needed for cooking and relaxing. In addition we had beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco and Sausalito from every room. It was also very handy to the Ferry in Tiburon, San Francisco, Napa, the beach and all the touristy things people like to do in this region. It was so pleasant to sit high up on Belvedere, on the patio, and watch the sail boats, cruisers and even big tankers headed out to sea. It entertained us for hours. We can't say enough about how accommodating Denise was to our every need. We were welcomed with wine, chocolate and and a friendly note to enjoy ourselves; and we did!

Incredible views. Incredible Host.

We spent a lovely few days at ‘Golden Gate Hideaway’ while my husband worked in San Francisco. We hope to come back again soon. First of all, the views are spectacular. I sat on the couch and could see downtown, the Golden Gate Bridge and Sausalito. I tried to read my book, but couldn’t stop looking up to see how the views changed with the sun. We also enjoyed watching the deer that walked right into the yard. We enjoyed sitting on the back patio at night with a fire in the fire pit and a glass of wine from the gift basket we received upon arrival. The flat is beautifully decorated with a clean, relaxing feel. Denise thought of everything we could possibly need for an extended stay. We have stayed at other rentals and never seen any place so well-furnished. We enjoyed great smelling natural products in the bath and kitchen, the maps and restaurant menus, and the well-stocked kitchen. Her attention to detail makes this place extra special. We will be back!

Perfect beginning to the new year....

We welcomed in the new year watching fabulous fire works over San Francisco from our front windows. We spent 8 days in this lovely flat enjoying the serenity, privacy and ever changing unobstructed views of the bay. Although we lived in the bay area many years ago we have never seen this exact view - breathtaking. We certainly hope to return.

A Slice of Heaven in Belvedere!

I chose this location for a two week personal retreat because I was looking for a location that had many things to offer, including peace & quiet, a spectacular view, convenience to activities, shops & other locales and a clean, safe, luxurious, well-kept space. I was looking for a space to "get away from it all" and this location met all my criteria and then some! As the home-base for my two week retreat, I couldn't have found a better location than this luxury flat in Belvedere. Whether I had my heart set on a quiet day at the flat relaxing or a day full of local activities, the flat served as the perfect base for whatever I wanted to do. I relaxed at the flat and had lazy afternoons reading books & journaling on the patio, had the amenities to cook myself great home meals (the local grocery stores have amazing organic, local high-quality food!), went on fitness walks around Belvedere, went sight seeing, enjoyed living like a local, engaged in a variety of extracurricular activities (such as kayaking, yoga, etc.) and took several trips to local cities - SF, Sausalito, Corte Madera, Oakland, etc. On top of it all, the owner, Denise is one of the most gracious hosts of any VRBO spots that I've stayed in to date. Denise has not only thought of every convenience and luxury in the flat itself, she also makes herself available if you need anything and asks for what she can do to make your experience even better (which I struggled to find anything!) I truly felt like I had an opulent, comfortable home away from home and it made my retreat better than I could have possibly imagined. I will return to this location time & time again, it really is truly perfect in every sense!!

REVERIE IN THE CLOUDS

What can you say about a place that instantly makes you feel fortunate for being able to be there- if even for a short week. We have wandered the world and rented many cottages, villas and apartments. The Golden Gate Hideaway (aptly-named) sits at the top of our list for comfort, serenity, vistas and style. Denise is, by far, the most thoughtful owner, who has anticipated every need and makes absolutely sure that you will appreciate all her efforts and welcoming touches. For those who have never experienced Belvedere/Tiburon, you are in for a treat. We lived there for many years and appreciated every minute of it. You will too.. Do not forget to use the binoculars to capture the unexpected moment on the water or along the Sausalito waterfront. Lastly, be sure to take advantage of all the local information Denise makes available for thoughtful and helpful suggestions on sights, restaurants and day trips. Merci a vous to you, Denise. A gem in a jewel case - Hope to come back in this wonderful house in the middle of Nature and so close to the city. Let's go to "Golden Gate Hideaway" on the Rock.

Fabulous! The perfect getaway.

This flat was a perfect place for two. All brand new amenities, contemporary clean design. Home owner was a wonderful hostess ready to accommodate all of our needs and wants. Staying on this side of the bay was better then we imagined. We were just a short ferry ride away from the city and a nice country drive away from a Napa afternoon. The downtown is precious and quaint and was a nice place to have afternoon lunch on the waterfront. Evenings were spent on a secluded outside patio around a firepit overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. No regrets! Will look to stay here again if on the west coast.

This is a great get away place!

This property is so quiet and clean! We had a great get away and so enjoyed watching the activity on the bay. We could even hear a bit of the music from the Sausalito Art Festival last weekend- really cool. Mt Tamalpais is easy to get to for great hiking (which we love to do) and the short walk into Tiburon was easy. Great food there as well. We also loved cooking in this kitchen! Our whole experience was wonderful.

You have to see it in person! The pictures do not do it justice. It looks like you could reach out and touch San Francisco, Sausalito, and the Golden Gate Bridge with your fingertips. When I saw this property 25 years ago the views were so mesmerizing, I knew that this is where I wanted to be!

For those who enjoy walks, there are forested public stairways and winding paths that lead into the town of Tiburon (maps provided). The property is so close to San Francisco and the adjacent towns of Sausalito and Mill Valley, yet you can enjoy the privacy of your beautiful flat that sits on a wooded, private acre of land.
