About Christy Eugenis & Stacy Looney

I am a real estate Developer/ Investor in both Portland, OR & Palm Springs, CA. Have a passion for mid-century modern architecture and design, and re-imagined and launched the mid-century boutique hotels in Palm Springs, now known as the Orbit In and the Hideaway. My husband and I are co-founders and partners in the Hybrid Grocery Stores known as New Seasons Market here in Portland, OR. We love cooking, entertaining, bicycling, travel, the great outdoors, politics, and support environmentally and socially responsible causes & businesses.

Christy Eugenis & Stacy Looney purchased this house in 1997

Why Christy Eugenis & Stacy Looney chose Portland

We have it as a Guest Suite for visiting family and friends, and they've enjoyed it so much, we decided to make it available to others!

What makes this house unique

We are on a quiet dead end street, yet in the heart and pulse of the Rose City. It's a short walk to the lively Alberta Arts District, as well as a number of wonderful restaurants, Brew Pubs, & coffee shops in every direction. The neighborhood is full of interesting architecture and beautiful gardens -- fantastic walks abound!

We are 1 block from the nearest Bike Route, which also takes you over to the Mississippi District.

There is a nice play park for kids and dogs at the other end of our block, and we are located 4 short blocks from Public Transportation. Whole Foods is just an 8 minute walk or a 2 minute drive. New Seasons Market is a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute drive.

Charming Location

I loved staying in this "groovy pad"! The location is quiet and the view fabulous. If you like to walk, there are a ton of great restaurants and shops within a 15 minute radius, and, the driving is very easy. Getting around town from here is no problem. It is in a lovely neighborhood setting, with a park about a block away. Clean and well equipped, comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. We stay at VRBO properties often, and this one has a very unique vibe!

Visiting from Southern California

We really enjoyed our stay in the Penthouse. Christy had coffee and milk in the refrigerator and a bottle of wine on our arrival. The views are amazing! The one level unit was on the end of the street and it was very quiet. Our favorite time was in the morning in the master bedroom, waking up to a gorgeous view! The home had everything we needed, very clean and comfortable.

Portland Lover

This was our third August in this wonderful location. In the past the upstairs unit was an office so we stayed in the bottom unit which we liked very much. This year though we stayed in the bigger and more spectacular upper unit which has been recently remodeled for a rental. When we arrived, everything was ready. The unit was spotless, there were frest flowers on the table, and Christy was on her way to the store to buy us a bottle of welcome wine. The single best feature of this unit is the panoramic view of Portland from almost every room and from a large deck. We usually ended our days sitting outside watching the lights come on as the sun went down. Christy and Stan, the owners, are delightful and attend to every request or inquiry. Because they live nearby any problems are resolved immediately such as the system for recycling, etc. All the furniture is retro; it reminds us of what we grew up with in the fifties although Christy has put her own touches to the overall decor. The house is also located in a very nice neighborhood with beautiful houses, trees, and a park and commercial street nearby. We often walked to meals on Alberta which is one of the more popular streets in Portland for cafes, restaurants, shops, and people watching. We also love that pets are allowed as we have two little dogs and would not leave them for a whole month. There are lots of wonderful parks nearby and they love to think they can catch a squirrel although of course they can't. We are returning next August so I think that speaks for itself. We highly recommend this lovely place for a quiet, relaxing, and fun vacation.

wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this place - it was well equipped without having too much clutter - it is only used as a rental so you don't have a lot of the owners personal stuff to deal with. It is spacious, great kitchen, awesome deck, great location (especially if you have kids, there is a nice park 1/2 a block away). We were very comfortable. My mother in law was with us too and it was perfect as there are no stairs.

Mid Century Mod Penthouse

This rental was by far the most enjoyable myself and my family have experienced. The home was meticulously clean and the owner thoughtfully provided many amenities. The photos are true to what the rental really looks like. We enjoyed many fine restaurants, shops and grocery stores within walking distance. I will most assuredly rent this property again and highly reccomend it to anyone looking for a clean spacious property with a beautiful view.
