Jeff and Lauren,
Your home exceeded all expectations. It was warm, inviting and spacious. The main level open floor plan flowed nicely and was conducive to entertaining. The quirkiness of the half bath and laundry/mud room added much charm. The color scheme throughout your home was beautiful and calming. The new additions were spectacular. The new wrap around deck added so much space to be enjoyed by all. The view off of the new master bedroom deck was breathtaking. The addition of dormers in the upstairs bedrooms gave you a lot more square footage. We were able to put up port a cribs no problem at all and still had ample space to move about. All rooms were just lovely. Your home was the best stocked and most equipped house we have ever stayed in. I had brought many essentials ( extra t.p., paper towels, kitchen and trash bags etc.) and needed none of them. I also had packed wine glasses and left them in the car. The kitchen was well stocked. Plenty of plates, silverware and yes wine glasses. There was absolutely everything you could possibly need. We felt welcome from the moment we reached out to you to rent your home and felt like family once we arrived. The welcome note and wine were a lovely gesture. We loved our stay and plan on returning very soon for a couples golf getaway. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Three generations of our family enjoyed a wonderful week in Mattapoisett. The house easily accommodated our large family along with a small dog and the owner was very responsive to all inquiries we had. The large yard and spacious porches provided lots of space with beautiful views and the short walk to the town beach and harbor made this a perfect spot to host our young grandchild. We were very grateful that the home was air-conditioned, as it turned out to be. an abnormally hot week.
Great house! Well equipped. We were there for a regatta and it was perfect. The boat was right in front of the house. Our ages were 80 to 2 and the house met all our needs ( including puzzles for 2 year olds). We had a wonderful time. Thank you Jeff and Lauren
This house was truly perfect. My family and another rented this home while in town for a local event and it was absolutely gorgeous. The owners were responsive and a pleasure to deal with, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to spend the weekend. The kitchen, bedrooms and layout of the overall home is really great, and we're looking forward to spending another weekend next fall,
We really enjoyed our stay in this home. We visited with our children for my sister's wedding the area. It was a beautiful home and the owners are very helpful.
We attended a wedding across the street and wanted our family of five to get together for a mini-vacation. Growing up in the area before moving to Philadelphia I already knew the location was great but the feeling we had when opening the door to Treasure By The Sea was the making of a commercial. The property was spotless inside and out. Great communication by the owners with emails/phone and the book provided right next to the "surprise gift" gave us all the information we needed to feel right at home. Open and spacious, the first floor seemed to go on and on. Everyone had their own room with a bathroom attached and all of the beds where VERY comfortable. We usually stay with family (which we enjoy) when visiting the area but to host the extended family for cocktails on the patio before walking the 75 yards to the wedding was wonderful. My local family were all very impressed and have asked for the owners contact information for when they have guests visiting from out of town. The home had all the amenities needed and then some. We did take advantage of the whole house A/C just to take the humidity out of the air and then shut it down to enjoy the cooler night breezes. And if your trying to decide who should get the master suite... make sure it's you!
Thanks Jeff and Lauren (and Barbara for the cookies) for helping make our stay a memorable one.
Historic Mattapoisett is a charming, traditional old whaling village located an hour south of Boston and 45 minutes north of Providence and Newport, Rhode Island. Access to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket & Plymouth is easy by car, ferry and boat. There are plenty of wonderful day trips to plan as well as enough relaxing activities to do right here. Take time to relax at town beach, directly across the street or enjoy the harbor views and watch the boating activity right from the front yard. Mattapoisett has many wonderful restaurants to enjoy, a bike trail, weekly summer band concerts & various festivals throughout the year. There are tennis courts in town, several golf courses in the areas as well as local kayak and boat rentals.
Here's a portion of an article recently published in the Boston Globe about Mattapoisett: "Go East, young man (And Woman). And just before you reach Cape Cod, you'll find the quaint seaside village of Mattapoisett. The area smacks of Old New England, Yankee fishing villages with narrow streets, tall proud homes and gulls o'er the rooftops. The best part of the area is it's natural beauty: the mouth of the harbor, the expanse of ocean, the wharf, the boats, the birds. Smell the ocean. Look for sea glass. Skip rocks. Take photos. Bring your bike, your kids, your kayak. Bring a football, a Frisbee, a kite. Or just bring a cup of coffee and look out over the water. Mattapoisett's Water Street, in particular, is gorgeous, no matter the time of year, with ocean views along the entire length. Ned's Point at Veteran's Memorial Park is a stunning swath of shore and meadow to picnic, toss a ball, fly a kite, windsurf or watch the sun go down beyond majestic Ned's Point Lighthouse. Built during the heyday of the whaling era, circa 1838, the stone tower at the entrance to Mattapoisett Harbor is also on the National Register of Historic Places. Another Mattapoisett landmark is the nearly 40-foot seahorse at the intersection of Rt. 6 and North Street. Dubbed "Salty the Seahorse" by locals, the roadside icon stands near Dunseith Gardens - a playground, garden and nature walk maintained by the Mattapoisett Land Trust."
Water Street, with the "gorgeous water views", is right in front of our home and all of these other places mentioned in the article are within walking distance of our "Treasure By The Sea."
