About Trixi

Lynn and I live in Virginia and i am a retired high school teacher and Lynn has his own business, which is a residential painting business. We like to bike, kayak, play tennis, travel and eat.

Trixi purchased this house in 2002

Why Trixi chose Mid-Coast & Islands

We love Maine and this spot is heaven! Every time we come, we pinch ourselves to make sure that this is, in fact, reality.

What makes this house unique

We love the location. We are only 17 miles to Damariscotta and about the same to Rockland. Both have unique restaurants, museums, theaters and shopping. Because we have about 60 islands around us, kayaking is premier. Since it is our home, we have equipped the kitchen with everything needed for cooking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

You have a beautiful home in a truly spectacular location. We thank you so much for making it such a warm and comfortable place for us. We enjoyed Morse's, the Narrows Pub, and some friendly neighbors. The sunsets weren't bad either!

A perfect house for a week of relaxation with the whole family.

  • 5 of 5

We arrived for the week with five adults and our dogs. The house is set along a beautiful water view with a private access road. We did not have to worry about a busy road nearby with the dogs and the sunsets over the water were stunning. The front lawn was a great place to spend the late afternoon playing cornhole and enjoying the day. We spent our mornings and evenings on the deck looking out at the view. The screened in porch and picnic table was perfect for every meal we ate at the house. The outdoor space was perfect for the dogs as well. Our kids used the tennis courts down the road, and we all walked the dirt road daily with the dogs.

The layout of the house was perfect for us. When we arrived, it was perfectly clean and so well designed. Everything had a place and we immediately felt right at home. There was a master bed and bath on the first floor so that we could stay there and the "kids" stayed upstairs. They enjoyed using the common space on the second floor for board games and card games after dinner. The bedrooms upstairs were spacious and perfect for people to have a little private space when anyone needed it. Downstairs, the kitchen/living room open space was great for us because we did a lot of cooking, especially in the evenings, and there was room for everyone. We used the outdoor cooking pot one night for lobsters and they were excellent. We did not use the little study room off the kitchen much because we were either cooking or outside. We totally lucked out with the weather and found ourselves wanting to be outside every moment possible.

We have a truly wonderful week. We have not been able to do a family vacation to Maine in years because of competing schedules. This week lined up by chance and we found Jutta's Place. Because of the wonderful time we had this summer, our kids have already worked to line up a common week off next summer so that we can return. This house was a great place for all of us to unplug, relax, laugh, eat, and enjoy summer in Maine.

A Very Special Place

  • 5 of 5

Driving on Back Cove Road to Jutta's Place, we knew our vacation would be a dream; as we turned onto Ice Pond Road, we passed under tall evergreens, overlooking Ice Pond, but to our right was the beautiful sea. When we entered Trixi's and Lynn's home we felt welcomed by the loveliness of the furnishings, the cleanlinesness of every room, the spectacular views, and the attention to the comfort of their visitors. Each day, we walked the lovely roads, and though we planned many excursions, we fulfilled only a few--the wind chimes hanging in the tree near the two Adirondack chairs called to us, so our adventures were watching the lobstermen checking their traps, osprey fishing, and hummingbirds beating their wings right near us. This will be our "go to" home away from home. Thank you so much, Trixi and Lynn for sharing your special retreat.

Wonderful Stay!!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second return to Juuta's Place! And like last year, we had a wonderful time! We came when it was very very cold, almost blizzard conditions, but the road was perfect! Our dogs felt right at home, relaxed and love walking in all the snow! The fire place was great! We were able to share with some friends that live close by. Location is just where we like to stay, close to shops and stores, but far enough away that you can enjoy the beauty of the house, even in the winter! We will return next year! Thank you Trixie and Lynn

Beautiful home, tranquil surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Jutta's Place in mid-July. We are so glad we chose to stay here, and the two weeks made it an unrushed and relaxing vacation. We also lucked out with beautiful, sunny, warm weather for most of our stay.

This large cape is charming, light-filled, and comfortable with many unexpected amenities, including a well-equipped kitchen and nice furnishings. We felt as though we were visiting a "real" home, not a vacation rental. We found it to be a peaceful and quiet retreat and enjoyed watching many colorful sunsets, lobster boats, and wildlife (especially eagles!), kayaking in the river, fly fishing in nearby fresh water rivers, day-tripping in Camden and Boothbay, and of course, dining on Maine's great seafood! The kayak launcher was handy and we made good use of the hammock overlooking the river and narrows.

Slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Our group of friends have been vacationing together for many years, and this home was the best stocked ever for one of the things we most love doing --- cooking! We were particularly impressed by the full range of baking supplies, and we baked every day. It is in all ways such a wonderful house, better than advertised, with beautiful views from every angle, and every comfort imaginable.

We also absolutely loved the woods (as did our dogs), and were enchanted by our regular visitors -- ospreys, eagles, seals, songbirds (a rare thrush serenaded us the first two mornings), and we even heard a loon one evening. We made good use of the kayaks, the beach and the dock, not to mention Harlan's wonderful drop-off lobster service. We are so thankful that Trixi and Lynn have made this slice of heaven available for people like us, and we definitely plan to return.
