About Nancy J Wilson

My husband and I have been coming to the the North Georgia Mountain area for over 30 years and have always dreamed of having a place of our own. It's still hard to believe that this piece of heaven is actually ours. Many have shared theirs with us, now we hope to share ours with you.

Nancy J Wilson purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Nancy J Wilson chose Lake Chatuge

We love the North Georgia Mountain area.... the people, the scenery and there is always something to see or do.

What makes this cabin unique

The peaceful quiet woods with no visible house in sight. The sound of the stream is so relaxing. Several places to 'escape' from the crowd.

Guestbook comments from the owner

It snowed! What a lovely place! We enjoyed our stay and felt God in these peaceful mountains. The house continued to surprise with wonderful views from each room of the landscape, trees and mountains. A deep sigh of contentment escapes....what a lovely place.

Everything I love about camping, without the camping.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this lovely house with my parents and our 2-year-old for a week. It was beautiful. We love to camp, but not so much that I'm willing to do the preparation for a long trip far from home with a toddler. This house had everything we wanted: the beautiful noise of the stream rushing down the hill, dark skies filled with stars, and seclusion. We didn't have to drive anywhere to take a good long walk in the woods. Leave the napping toddler in someone else's charge and head down the forest road. Or take him with us and walk the other way so he can watch the cows in the pasture. We built a fire down at the firepit after toddler bedtime one night and made 'smores. The site was just within baby monitor range. The house was comfortable and beautifully appointed. It had everything we needed, and we COOK on vacation, we don't just get by or eat out. The owner really went the extra mile for us, helping us work out places to set up our telescope nearby. The house is pretty well treed-in, which we love, but the telescope doesn't. We can't say enough about the house or it's situation. It was a great launching point for visits to Tallulah Gorge, Brasstown Bald, and Helen. We took the toddler swimming at a little beach on Lake Chatuge right in Hiawassee, and he loved it. Not as much as he loved scooping handfuls of mud out of the creek below the house, but it's hard to beat that. This place will be high on our list next time we plan a vacation!

Private family-friendly wooded getaway on a stream...

  • 5 of 5

It was very relaxing, close to a lot of hiking spots, we could hear the stream from the house.

It was exactly what we needed, and better than the pictures. The drive in was fun for us city-folks, and we were glad to have new tires with the gravel road in our Chevy Cruze. The house was really perfect and almost fit our family better than our home in FL. Having two separate living areas was great for us and the kids. The stream was so much fun to play in, plenty big for the kids to splash around while we got a fire going to roast marshmallows. The master bedroom porch was great, being screened in was icing on the cake. The garage area had my older daughter in heaven and was the perfect space for doing cartwheels and gymnastics. The house itself is 20-30 mins from so many different hiking spots and waterfalls it was awesome, we went to at least one everyday and a couple of days we ventured a little longer and saw 2-3.

The kids are already asking to come back!

Perfect

From the moment we pulled up and could hear the stream I knew this was the place for me. My only regret is that we could not stay longer. A fantastic place to get away!

My favorite cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed in a lot of cabins through Georgia and mostly pigeon forge and gatlinburg. This is my favorite. You have absolute seclusion and are literally bordered by national forest. We loved walking back into it. I wouldn't recommend it if you plan to leave the cabin often or visit Helen a lot as its a 30 minute drive, but if you crave an escape, this is it. It allows for the very best kind of boredom to blossom. The kind that leaves you space to watch a snail climb the side of the house for 20 minutes with your 6 year old and allows for countless games of checkers and impromptu family dance parties. And the creek and firepit were great sources of fun as well! Everything about the house is comfortable and inviting. We'll be back, no question!
