About the property

Mark Island Log Cabin House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

We have a strict NO FIREWORKS and NO PETS policy, there are no exceptions unfortunately. Our rental calendar works on a Saturday to Saturday rotation. Note that during the summer we have minimum of one week rentals. See our calendar and rate schedule for details on availability, we keep this up to date. Thanks.

IMPORTANT: This is an Island Property and to get to the property you have to travel by boat which now in the State of NH means you must possess a valid boaters license as you cannot rent or operate a boat without one. (If you have a license from another state, check as most states are accepted) You do need a boat (your own or rental) or make arrangements for water taxi if desired but this gets expensive and is a bit inconvenient. We personally feel that being on an Island adds to the overall character and experience of the home! We are very confident that you will enjoy it as much as us. Truly a slice of paradise!

Gorgeous post and beam log cabin built in 2010 with all upscale amenities. The name of this home is Waterscape. This 2000 sq ft vacation home sits on 3 acres on the edge of the most wonderful lake in all of New England, Lake Winnipesaukee. The moment you step on the property you will fall in love and begin to decompress from the every day world. Relax in this peaceful comfortable home that has everything you need to be pampered!

You are first greeted as you walk up the gradual ramp from the dock by the 40 foot long outdoor living space, a covered porch overlooking the lake, and in front of that a wood sitting deck around a very large fire-pit. You enter the home from the porch into a large open living area featuring the kitchen, living area, game area and dining area. The kitchen is a chef's playground with all new stainless steel appliances complete with dishwasher, granite countertops and large walkin pantry. You won't be roughing it on this cabin stay in the woods! As you stand at the sink preparing dinner you look over the dining table out thru 5 windows to a panoramic view of the lake. The kitchen is fully outfitted including a blender for those frozen drinks on the porch, and a proper pot to boil the lobsters!

The first floor Master Bedroom Suite includes its own separate door to the front porch for those early morning coffees. The MB consists of a queen bed, walkin closet, full bath with dual sinks, and a separate closet for Washer/Dryer. Each of the two upstairs bedrooms have a queen bed, walk in closet, and sleeping loft that can accomodate 2 additional adults (but this is where the kids love to sleep!). Each bedroom has two large windows overlooking the lake and a third with a sitting reading nook. All the queen beds in the home have new memory foam mattresses for your sleeping comfort. Each of the 3 bedrooms have flat screen TVs for your viewing pleasure. The upstairs bedrooms attach to an lounge area that has 55" HDTV flatscreen with DirectTV and gaming. Directly above the lounge is the highest point of the house which has a ladder to yet another sleeping loft area. There is a full bath located directly off the upstairs lounge area that services the second floor.

On the main living area the open floor plan created by the great post and beam design allows for kitchen, dining, game table, and living room areas of the home all to be connected in a wonderful living space. The dining table looks out to the lake and extends to sit 10 for dinner. A second table nearby easily sits another 6 guests. When this second table is not used for dining it is ideal for board games, or jigsaw puzzles. For those looking for more serious gaming the table top converts with a flip to a professional card table for poker and by removing the top entirely it is a very nice bumper pool table.

Surrounding the gas fired fireplace is the living room area with comfortable couch, overstuffed lounge chair, and reclining Adirondack leather chair. The back hallway leads to both the 1/2 bath and the door to the back covered porch and deck that includes stainless steel gas grill and sitting deck. RIght off the covered porch you will find a brand new 2016 luxurious hot and cold outdoor shower with private changing area. This is truly the best shower in the house, and is wonderful even in the rain and certainly under the stars!

The property is on a channel that typically is only travelled by the locals which makes it that much more private. It has a sandy area for swimming with a perched beach for sitting and watching the kids play in the water. There's a wonderful rocky point with two Adirondack chairs for a quiet private moment. You are graced with nearly 300 feet of waterfront.

Mark Island is 93 acres and has just over 30 homes on it. No roads as there are no bridges, just hiking and walking paths. You can hike to the center point of Mark Island which is a mount that is almost 200 feet above the lake. This is the name sake for the island, as it is the highest point on all of the islands and therefore early on became a point of navigation for the travelers on the lake 'The Mark'

NOTE REGARDING RATES: There is a 'loyalty program' discount for returning guests. There is a 5% discount for full two week booking, and 10% discount on full month booking.

About Jon Moore

I am a engineer and my wife is in the education field. We enjoy traveling, family and friends, and have always loved this Lake. We are very fortunate to have found this gem of a property and would be pleased to share it with you. Our children have grown up on this lake from infancy and we can think of no where better than to call our 'home away from home'!

Jon Moore purchased this house in 2011

Why Jon Moore chose Lake Winnipesaukee

Our immediate family along with friends have been vacationing on Lake Winnipesaukee for close to twenty-five years and have been looking for a home for over the past 5 years. Well, in 2011 we finally found our little slice of paradise called 24 Mark Island.

What makes this house unique

The home has the charm of a wonderful log cabin cottage but being brand new and built with the finest materials and finishes it provides the charm of the lake while pampering even the highest of expectations. We are confident that our guests will typically become repeat vacationers as this is truly a slice of paradise. The fact that it is on an island is a real plus as it adds so much to the experience, seclusion and character of the property. Obviously, if you are not a boater it makes this a bit more of a challenge. Our guests have all found it to be a big plus!

Way Moore Fun, again

We love spending time on Mark Island, and staying at Waterscape. Situated on the water with an amazing view as you sit on the porch or at the fire pit. We plan on spending much more time visiting this little piece of paradise.

Beautiful lake retreat

We loved our week at Waterscape. The property was beautiful inside and out. It was the perfect family getaway. Everything was clean and the owners were readily available to answer any questions regarding house and local area. Can't wait to go back again!

Owners Hit the Mark with “Rustic Luxury”

  • 5 of 5

We have been renting on Winnipesaukee for over 10 years and decided to try island living for a week this July as part of a 2-family getaway (4 adults/5 teens). House is ideally situated to give you the feel of your own private space while providing a great view and access to the lake. Open concept layout inside was perfect and we never felt like everyone was on top of one another. There was plenty of room to spread out for privacy as well as gather to play games, share meals, and relax. The house provides everything you need for your stay (&more) and makes it very easy to settle in quickly and start your vacation. It has the amenities (dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, grill, large refrigerator, etc.) so that you can continuously focus on your vacation and don’t have to spend time with chores. The décor provided a rustic log cabin feel and was enhanced with inspirational decorations/plaques to remind you why you were there. We loved the large porch to enjoy the view of the lake, huge fire pit for evening s’mores, wireless music system, and numerous Adirondack chairs for relaxing. The dock is huge and provides a great place for keeping a boat, fishing, floating in the water, or sitting and enjoying the lake up close.

Owners were great hosts, answered all questions very quickly, and checked in to make sure that everything was meeting our expectations. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants a carefree Winni getaway in a private, rustic, luxurious setting.

Picturesque and Fun

  • 5 of 5

We just had such a great week at this property! The house is beautiful and extremely clean. The sound system that works inside and outside gave us great background music while we made fires at night. There was an abundance of Adirondack chairs and rocking chairs so there is always somewhere to sit. The little beach made for a great spot to take a swim. We had a great time and can't wait to come back!

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family, made up of six adults and two toddlers, spent a magical long weekend at this idyllic property in October. It was our first trip to Lake Winnipesaukee; and now we can't wait to return. Upon arrival at the property, we were overwhelmed with excitement and a total sense of relaxation. A guest could not ask for more in terms of the design and attention to detail, both inside and outside of the house. Over the course of the weekend, we lounged by the fire in the cozy living room; prepared and shared meals in the open kitchen & dining room; toured the lake; relaxed on the perfect front porch; introduced the babies to their first-ever s'mores in the incredible outdoor fire pit; admired the beautiful New England foliage and sunsets from the beach area; and explored the woods behind the house (even building our own teepee...see if you can find it on your next visit!). If you are seeking a rustic, quiet, relaxing getaway to recharge your family's batteries, without giving up any of the modern comforts that you love from home (i.e. fully appointed kitchen, strong wifi, great sound system, directv, etc.), then this property is where you want to go. The only down side is when it comes time to leave!
