Pointe Marian Beach Cottage is a charming home on a stunning, no-bank, waterfront property with mountain views. Located 3 miles from the Alderbrook Resort, this picturesque retreat is a quick ferry ride or drive from Seattle. Despite its proximity to the city, it seems like a million miles away.
Pointe Marian features 2 beautifully appointed bedrooms on the first floor, both furnished with king size beds.
The living room offers a rare treat- a hide-a-bed that WASN'T purchased at a dungeon equipment sale.
The upstairs loft bedroom has a queen size bed and two twin beds--perfect for a couple or a whole family. You'll love the cozy decor and the cooks in your group will rave about the well-equipped kitchen with a million dollar view!
This romantic cottage will melt your stress away. A jewel perched on the most beautiful stretch of the Hood Canal, the Great Bend, Pointe Marian's vistas will take your breath away. Cuddle by the fire and watch the ever-changing variety of water fowl and marine mammals through the huge picture windows. Snap a picture of a harbor seal dozing in the sun. Dine with friends by chandelier light on the deck. Take a dip in the balmy water on a late summer's night.
For those who want to explore the waterways, kayak and paddle boat rentals are just a short walk away at the Hood Canal Marina. Or use the nearby public launch to set off in your own boat.
Want to go for a drive? Wine tasting and shopping are just minutes away in Hoods Port. Or head up to the Alderbrook Resort for a spa day. In the mood for a hike? One of the most beautiful and untouched wilderness areas in the world is just up the Peninsula.
Are there golfers in your group? Set them loose at the famous Alderbrook Golf Course.
Perhaps you'd like to see what you can find on foot?
Take a stroll down to Dos Margaritas Mexican restaurant for dinner. Stop to browse in the antique store on the way. After dinner, cross the street to the Union Country Store for an ice cream cone (Pointe Marian guests love the Lemon Chiffon) and peruse the quirky collection of merchandise.
Whether you're eager to get out and explore or you prefer to laze away the days relaxing at the water's edge with a book, you'll want to make Pointe Marian Beach Cottage a regular destination!

We are the Wells family--Darrell and Kathy, Peggy and Bill and the kids. We're proud to call the Seattle area home and love to explore the limitless beauty of our region.
Kathy purchased this cottage in 2012
Having a little waterfront cottage has always been our family dream. We found this gem summer of 2011 while vacationing on the Hood Canal. Before we knew it, we were the proud owners of Pointe Marian Beach Cottage, a place we named it in honor our mom/grandma/great-grandma. She was a passionate fisherwoman and had a deep kinship with nature. She would have loved this place. We are honored to share it with you. We hope you'll make some wonderful memories of your own here.
We all live for the times we can spend relaxing with our family at Pointe Marian. As owners of a 65 year old waterfront house, though, we also spend a good deal of time working on maintaining and improving the place. The biggest problem Bill and Kathy have is keeping Darrell and Peggy on task when they'd rather be bird-gazing.
One of our favorite things is getting up at dawn to watch the seals as they awake on our neighbor's swim float.
This home sits on the Great Bend of the Hood Canal, it is the perfect location to explore the estuary of the Skokomish River by Kayak, the home even has a ramp for launching Kayaks. The home itself is more than comfortable, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and unsurpassed views of the canal and mountains beyond. The first night there we were, treated to an incredible sunset, a sunset no painter could do justice to. All during our stay we were treated to a show by the seals that hang around on a raft anchored in the bay, this included flipper slap fights that would do the 3 Stooges proud. The house has an eclectic movie collection that has something for all tastes. My one and only negative is the lack of internet, my traveling companion had a work issue that had to be addressed, we had to resort to driving to the library in Belfair to gain access. That issue aside I would absolutely recommend this property.
Our family had a wonderful time at this little cottage on the south end of Hood Canal. We were able to swim when the tide came in and could watch a family of Harbor seals from the deck as they lounged and barked on a nearby dock. Eagles hunt in the area and are often swooping overhead during the low tide. Great bird watching! The tide goes way out and then rises right up to the bulkhead and the view is always changing.
The house itself is charming and comfortable with lovely views and creative little touches in every room. There was ample space for our family, a well stocked kitchen and two cute little bathrooms. The cottage is clean and has all the comforts of home. We were able to relax and unwind while enjoying sunsets and dinners on the deck. We enjoyed sandwiches and ice cream from the nearby Union Station little store. There are a few shops to explore in the area as well.
We brought our bulldog who enjoyed the sunning himself on the deck and dipping his paws in the saltwater. It was comforting to have him on the deck with us which is completely enclosed with cute little gates because the road along the canal is quite busy on weekends.
If your looking for a quiet, charming place to unwind and enjoy nature I would highly recommend Pointe Marion!
We immediately felt welcome! Cozy vast beautiful views that change every moment. Conveniently close to Union but quiet and comfortable. So much better than a hotel or resort!! Hoping to come back again!
We rented this sweet cottage for 5 nights in early August as a family getaway with our two adult daughters/husbands and our 3 year old granddaughter. We absolutely loved the homey feel and overall comfort of this cabin, with so many extras provided for our comfort! The sandbox and bonfire area were used daily, and the big table in front of that amazing view (to say nothing of the well-stocked kitchen) kept us wanting to stay there for virtually all our meals. The small craft launch was perfect for our SUP and canoe. I wasn't sure at first about the tidal changes, but we all agreed that the changing seascape made it all the more interesting. We watched eagles feast on salmon, many seals playing in the water, blue herons fishing, and more. The location was great for nearby golf and hiking, and even running to the store in Hoodsport a couple of times was an easy trip. We moored our motor boat at Alderbrook nearby - super convenient. And no WIFI/TV plus often spotty cell phone reception made our unplugged experience all that much better! There's so much to love about this place, we are already talking about our return visit. The owner was very responsive and great to work with.
Wow! We loved this place! The house is clean, warm and cozy, and the kitchen is the best equipped kitchen in any of the many vacation houses I have ever rented. Although there are houses close by, it feels very private. The beds were comfortable and there were lots of books, DVD's and games on the shelves. Clearly this is a house that the owner and her family use themselves because they have thought of everything! But, by far, the greatest thing about this house is the deck, which looks out to a beautiful, changing view of the Hood Canal and the mountains of the Olympic Peninsula. The pictures do not lie - it is truly that beautiful. We loved sitting on the deck in the mornings and evenings and watching the tides change - it was quite a startling difference between low and high tide. We saw eagles, herons, kingfishers, seals and otters. We are a hiking family and we spent several days hiking on the Olympic Peninsula. Several great day hikes are within a 1 or 1 1/2-hour driving distance of the house, including Mt. Elinore, where you may see mountain goats if you go up high enough. From the house, you can walk to the Mexican restaurant in Union, which serves excellent, authentic Mexican food, and the ice cream sold at the country store across the street is also fantastic. The owner was very helpful and quickly responded to all of my questions. We highly recommend this rental to anyone who is lucky enough to travel to it!
My husband and two year old twins arrived on a beautiful, sunny day. We were instantly drawn around the cabin exploring the ins and outs. We spent hours on the beach throwing rocks in the water, swimming, playing in the sandbox, and swinging in the hammock. We cooked all our meals at the cabin and were never in need of anything (dishes to well-stocked pantry). We loved watching the eagles, seals, heron, and sea gulls searching out their breakfast as the sun came up behind the cabin. As the day ended, the sun set directly in front of us every night, and we played cards by chandelier light until 10pm! We also ventured to Staircase for a hike and loved being so close. Our last day, my mom came and picked up the kids and we were able to sneak away to Alderbrook for a massage. It was perfect! Also, when the power went out due to a brush fire across the canal from the cabin, Kathy was quick to call and text providing us with the information we needed to be safe and comfortable. Thank you Kathy and Darrel for sharing your slice of heaven on Hood Canal. We will be back!
