Overview

About the property

Hot Tub

Three-level town home; 2200sq. feet; 2 bedrooms; 3 ½ baths, sleeps 6.

Salida Riverfront Town Home is located in downtown Salida, three blocks from the center of Historic Downtown Salida, on the beautiful Arkansas River.

This three story town home was built in 2007 with elegant, high-end finishes. Each of the three floors has its own spacious deck that overlooks (nearly overhangs!) the Arkansas River with amazing views both upstream and downstream, including a view of Tenderfoot (“S”) Mountain. The lowest deck has stairs down to water level and a jacuzzi hot tub that can be used year round.

The well appointed kitchen has lots of granite counter space and is fully equipped with everything needed to prepare gourmet meals. (We're serious--the kitchen has EVERYTHING you would expect to find in a regular family kitchen—including a dishwasher.) Those gourmet meals can be enjoyed at either the indoor or outdoor dining tables--both have amazing views. Your designated chef need not despair of cooking duty--he or she can enjoy the company of companions AND views of the Arkansas River because the kitchen is open to the main living and dining area.

The lower level is a spacious second living room designed for relaxation, with a leather couch, reclining chairs, 32 inch flat screen television, small library of books, gas fireplace, and full bath. The deck on this level has steps down to the river, and the sound of the river through the oversize sliding glass doors is mesmerizing. In fact, each of the three levels has oversize sliding glass doors onto the decks and the river can be clearly heard from all three floors.

There are two large bedroom suites on opposite sides of the upper floor, each with private bathrooms. The master suite faces the river, has its own deck, and a king size bed with high quality linens. The master bath has double sinks and a large, beautifully tiled shower with bench.

The second bedroom faces the front of the home with views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains to the south and has two queen sized beds with high quality linens and goose-down comforters. The bathroom in this second bedroom is also beautifully tiled and includes a bath tub.

Other amenities include a single car garage with extra space to store your toys,

and parking for an additional vehicle in the driveway (additional parking is available on the street); Bose iPod dock, full linens, four 32 inch flat screen TVs, full size washer and dryer, gas grill, walk-in closets in each bedroom, side-by-side refrigerator with ice maker, large kitchen pantry, gas range and oven and microwave. And do not forget to the Hot Tub added November 2012.

We also have solar panels on the roof sufficient to provide 100% of our electrical use including heating our new energy efficient hot tub.

About Doug Jones

Linda and I both grew up in Minnesota. We have 2 sons that live close to us in Minneapolis and a daughter that lives in Salida. We have 7 grand children. Linda is a retired Nurse. We also have a family run real estate business in Minneapolis. We have been married 42 years and still like each other. Hard to believe the time has gone by so fast. We always tried to take time for just the two of us. Fortunately Linda's Mom loved staying with our kids.

Doug Jones purchased this townhome in 2012

Why Doug Jones chose South Central

Linda and I bought this house in May of 2012. We bought the home to be close to our daughter and son in law and especially our brand new grand daughter. The decision to buy the house was a compromise. I wanted to be on the river and Linda wanted to be close to downtown. This house gives us both what we wanted. We visit often in all seasons and have come to love Colorado and all the outdoor activities.

What makes this townhome unique

Close to great trout fishing, Monarch Mountain Ski area, bike or walk to restaurants and shopping or just explore. Great hiking areas surround Salida. We love the weather here. Salida always cools down at night so you can leave your windows and doors open in the summer to hear the flowing Arkansas River and enjoy the fresh air.

Arkansas Riverside--AMAZING!!

  • 5 of 5

Tess and I always try to stay in places that are right beside streams or rivers, because the sound and motion of the river/stream is so soothing and downright mesmerizing! This extraordinary home has a deck on each of the 3 levels overlooking the Arkansas river, with a different perspective and view unique to each level. The lowest level even has a stairwell that takes you all the way down to the river! We also like our privacy and even though there were people staying on either side of us, we didn't hear or see anyone on their back decks for the 3 nights that we were there. It tends to get warm in the summertime (upper 80's) while we were there, but Doug had some very helpful tips on how to keep the house cool throughout the day and evening. There was also some sturdy, powerful. portable fans located in the bedroom closets to help draw in fresh and cooler air (in the evening) and by cooler I mean the house cooled down to 63 degrees one morning with the right windows and patio doors opened. My wife and I fell in love with the house decorum--she loved the granite counter-tops and tile back-splashes in the kitchen along with new--and nice--appliances. The house is well designed with a handy bathroom (2 on the upper bedroom level) on each level. The hot tub experience was incredible. My wife and I didn't climb in until the last night of our stay, and truly regretted missing the first 2 nights!! Doug has the hot tub set to come on at just the right time and temperature(minor temperature adjustments may need to be made in the winter time) so all you have to do is turn on the desired jets and lights, then just settle in, relax, and prepare to have all of your aches and pains disappear with the strong massaging jets, all while listening to and watching the Arkansas river carry by an occasional friendly rafting party or kayaker. The house also comes with a nice over-sized one car garage, and both home and garage are well secured. The home is located within walking distance of Historic Downtown Salida, with many wonderful shops and restaurants--not to mention a beautiful river-walk, complete with a mini amphitheater and live concerts free to the public. If the opportunity ever presents itself again, Tess and I would eagerly look forward to staying at Doug and Linda's place in Salida. We highly recommend it for a peaceful and relaxing vacation, and we thank Doug and Linda for sharing their "slice of heaven" with us! Warmest Regards, Jim and Tess Mayes

Perfect Salida Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

First, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us! We had an amazing stay. This town house is just beautiful. The Views from all 3 of the back decks made us all so happy. We were especially excited with the FULLY stocked kitchen and the extremely comfortable beds! The fact that we could just stroll into town was an added bonus! Great home! Great Town!

Awesome, relaxing vacation/wedding retreat

  • 5 of 5

We came to Salida for our granddaughter's wedding and family time. I am a big city gal so being on the river and watching the deer swim across every morning was an extra special treat. The townhouse has everything you need and more. It is located close to the old downtown and park but far enough away to not have the noise of the city. We can't wait to come back and visit our granddaughter and stay here. We felt at home and loved the space the townhouse has. Thank you for a wonderful time in your beautiful townhouse.

Spring Fishing Stay

  • 5 of 5

Great Home. All of the amenities you could ask for. Great location as it was walking distance to down town. Hot tub and decks are great, enjoyed coffee on the patio, and grilled out one evening. Ideal situation for what we were there for. The only negative thing I have to say is that the driveway is short so don't bring a crewcab longbed truck. I was worried it would get hit as it hangs past the driveway end a foot or so.

First Class Place!

  • 5 of 5

Six girlfriends rented this house for a 40th birthday celebration. It was perfect! The house is very well built and all the rooms were very spacious. The decks on each floor allowed you to let the outside in easily. I am a professional chef and found the kitchen to supply everything we needed to make excellent meals. The hot tub was big enough for all of us and was a great way to check out the stars while listening to the river run by below us. We headed to Mt. Princeton hot springs one day and it was a short 30 minute drive. Salida is cute and the people are friendly. I would do it all over again.
