About the property

The Grizzly Adams is the second cabin that was built on our 312 acre working cattle ranch for you and your families enjoyment. The log cabin was completed in June of 2012 and has 1500 sq. ft. of usable floor area. It has a large fully furnished kitchen with dark brown granite counter tops on top and underneath beautiful aspen cabinets. It has a large electric range, dishwasher,and refrigator with an ice maker. One mile of the Little Arkansas River frontage and a one acre trout pond are availiable for your fishing enjoyment.. The cabin has 3 doored bedrooms with Queen beds and a sleeping loft that has a full bed and a couch that makes into a full bed. Two bathrooms one upstairs and one down and a living room down stairs finish out the floor plan. There are 2 flat screen tvs, 32 in. upstairs in the sleeping loft and a 39 in in the living room. The living room is furnished with a dark leather couch with a log glider easy chair. The bedrooms are furnished with log beds and large walkin closets. The kitchen chairs are comfortable dark upholstered. Tile covers the floor in the kitchen and bathrooms with hard wood flooring covering the rest of the floors. Custom made light fixtures in the kitchen and bathrooms as well as eletrical outlet and switch covers add and accentuate to the over all beauty of the beetle kill pine paneling in the cabin. The outside has a large warp around deck where you can seat on log rocking chairs and enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the mountains. A gas grill, picnic tables, and fire pit are all provided to help make your stay a memorable one.

About Dean Roberts

Father purchased ranch when I was 3 yrs. old. I grew up here and was able to raise my 3 children with my beautiful wife of 39 years. Family operated a dairy on ranch till 1981. Had to go to work for the state to make a living. Retired in 2004 and put the ranch into a conservation easement and built these cabins for you.

From the fresh smell of wood upon opening the door to the design theme throughout the cabin, it was a beautiful cabin. It was very clean, spacious, and had a beautiful view.

Quiet, clean and well supplied!! Shooting stars from the back deck were amazing!

This is a convenient location for a lot of different activities! We went to a music festival in Buena Vista. Easy drive to other mountain towns as well. Plenty of four wheeling going on in the area. I’m sure winter is amazing and Monarch skiing did not seem too far away. We under utilized the space with only 2 couples. If you’re considering this rental, stop thinking about it and just book it! The ONLY downside is finding the driveway in.

Great Kick off spot for activities on the Arkansas

This is my second time staying at Post Office Ranch. The cabins are clean and nicely equipped. This is a great kick off spot for fly fishing or rafting on the Arkansas. This property also has some nice fishing on property. The owners are great and go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Wow! Can’t believe to explain how amazing this place is... not only are there so many options of things to do around the town but this cabin is AMAZING! We went out most days but we’re back by evening and enjoyed our nights as much as our days! We stayed Saturday to Saturday and loved every second of our stay. Dean keeps the house clean, organized, and comfortable. He is literally around the corner if you ever need him. The views are 😍?😍?😍? (heart eyes). We can’t wait to come back with more people!! My absolute best vacation!

Fabulous views! Wonderful cabin!

Dean’s cabin is amazing. The environment is so quiet and peaceful and the views are unmatched. Very clean accommodations. We missed the turn into the ranch because we expected to see the cabins on the road. But they are set back behind some trees and everything is so peaceful. Salida was wonderful. Hope we get to come again!

Post Office Ranch is a 312 acre operating Angus cattle ranch located in the upper Arkansas river valley. The ranch is surrounded by Sawatch Mountain range with a number of 14,000 ft. peaks in view of the cabin.The ranch borders BLM and US Forest property which makes for great hiking. Many trail heads are a short drive from the cabin. The Ranch has 1 mile of South Arkansas River frontage and a 1 acre pond full of trout (catch and release) for your fishing enjoyment. The Arkansas river is a short drive for fishing and for world class white water rafting. Salida is a short 6 mile drive for shopping. The down town area is full of speciality shops as well as arts and craft shops for your shopping enjoyment. In Salida you will also find a large indoor hot springs pool, a fitness center,and spa. There are also many fine restaurants for your dining enjoyment. In the winter there are many winter sports opportunities. Monarch ski area is a short 12 mile drive. Snow Mobiling and Cross Country skiing are also available. The cabin with its rap-around deck make for restful sitting and enjoying the view of the mountains.
