The Post Office Ranch Cabin is a newly constructed (2010) log cabin on a working Angus cattle ranch. Be surrounded by horses, cattle and real cowboys on this authentic slice of Colorado ranching. With over 300 acres, seclusion is not a problem, making for great wildlife viewing. The cabin is adjacent to the South Arkansas River, and features a mile of river frontage, fishing is an anglers dream. We also have a nice ranch pond for relaxing fishing. The land borders BLM land and lends itself to great hiking. Monarch Ski Resort is an easy 20 minute drive away. We are six miles west of Salida Colorado. You will find many nice restaurants and shops in Salida. Amenities include a washer/dryer, electric range, microwave oven, dishwasher, refrigerator with ice maker, pellet stove and in-floor radiant heat. WiFi has recently been added. The interior is decorated in a wonderful western theme with log furniture featuring cowboy light switch covers and artistic hand finished wood highlights on the cabinets, and furniture. The spacious floor plan includes 2 bedrooms with loft, 1 1/2 bathrooms, and living area with 32" HD TV with DVD player and satellite TV. The cabin sleeps up to 9 comfortably. From the cabin, you will enjoy mountain views on all four sides. The wrap around deck is a great way to relax and enjoy the mountains. We also offer an outside BBQ grill and an authentic outdoor fire pit. Remember us for your next romantic getaway, small corporate refresher, or family gathering. Rates $165/night and up. 2 nights preferred.

Why Dean Roberts chose South Central

We built the cabin as a private getaway for our family and friends, just a short ways from our ranch home. Our visitors enjoyed it so much that we decided to invite more or our "friends" to join us at the Post Office Ranch Cabin. The Post Office ranch is built around one of the original post offices in the valley.

What makes this cabin unique

The Post Office Ranch is located just off Hwy 50 on well maintained gravel roads. The cabin is remote and quiet, yet convenient to Salida and Monarch Ski Resort. The South Arkansas River is just a short walk from your deck. We know that any angler will enjoy the private fishing on over a mile of cottonwood lined mountain stream. Just across the river is BLM land, ready to explore.

Review:

Mu husband and I spent a long relaxing weekend at the Post Office Ranch with my parents this spring. The cabin is well equipped and very peaceful. We really enjoyed watching the horses in the field through the giant picture window. Even though it was rainy and snowy for much of our stay, the cabin was so cozy we didn't care about the weather. When the sun did poke through, the views were amazing. We would certainly recommend the Post Office Ranch to anyone looking for a quiet place to relax with great access to the mountains and Salida.

Beautiful cabins

I rented both Post Office Ranch Log Cabins for a family reunion (16 people in all). 8 adults slept in this cabin, but I wouldn't try to fit any more in. Four 20-25 year old girls stayed in the loft; it worked great for them but the ladder could be challenging for less athletic people.

The cabin is 10 minutes outside of Salida, but is secluded from the highway so it feels very private. Dean quickly answered all of my questions by email and was very friendly in person. We all loved the craftsmanship of the cabins, the gorgeous views of the mountains, and the close proximity to so many activities. My brother and uncle enjoyed (catch and release) fishing in the pond. It was also nice to have a fully stocked linen cabinet, kitchen, and access to a washer and dryer.

We stayed in July; the temperature in the cabins was perfectly comfortable and it was even cool outside at night. There were a lot of biting flies and mosquitoes in the pastures, but DEET kept them off. I highly recommend both of these cabins!!

Exceeded expectations

The cabin was exquisite. I definitely have to say the pictures did not do any justice to the real Craftsman of the actual cabin. Dean was absolutely exceptional he was super helpful for any and everything we needed or had questions about. The cabin was extremely extremely clean very well put together and smells nice too. They have some pretty horses and livestock. We did have a neighbor but not one time during our stay did we notice or hear anybody else it was super quiet very secluded made me feel like I was in a private resort style cabin. I love the privacy of this place I love the homey feeling but also the luxury feeling out in the woods. I would recommend this place 10 times over to anybody who is looking for it, don't keep looking just book it it's amazing it's wonderful you will not regret it.

Spectacular

We loved everything about the Post Office! The cabin was beautiful, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. The deck was spectacular for viewing snow capped mountains all around, sunsets and animals(cattle, deer, fox and birds) We walked and fished. It was perfect for our family! Dean couldn't have been nicer! Hope to return soon!
