Why john livingston chose Coloma
This property is new and impeccably clean! It was very tastefully renovated and furnished just a few years ago.
What makes this House unique
We are just a very short walk down Maple Lane to a fabulous neighborhood beach that hardly anyone else knows about. We think it's one of the finest beaches you'll find anywhere on Lake Michigan!

Great house. Not great location.
This cottage was spotless, well-appointed, and cozy. Really, in any other location, it would be perfect.
Unfortunately, located just off a busy, high-speed road, traffic barrels down the street in front of the house making it dangerous to walk with kids and anything but relaxing.
The manufacturing facility next door starts work early and is very noisy (loudest phone on the planet). The insanely loud phone woke us up every morning EARLY. Not ideal on vacation.
The beach is lovely and pretty secluded. The downside is the walk to/from the beach is treacherous. Anyone with even minor mobility issues would have a tough time on the path.
Again, the house is great and the owners went out of their way to make it wonderful. They even left us s’mores ingredients! So cute!
It’s just too bad the house isn’t in a different location.
You will need to increase your budget next time and get right on the lake. You will not have to deal with a street or normal traffic. The house is priced accordingly.
Nice little home. Loved the screened in front porch.
Overall we enjoyed our time in this cabin. Close to St. Joseph and the beach access was nice to have. That was actually our favorite part of the entire trip. John was fantastic to deal with. When we arrived we found that we were short one set of bath towels and he sent someone over right away to drop off what we needed. Also, and maybe more impressive than that, one of our party left behind a pair of running shoes. I emailed John and informed him of the situation and he immediately located and shipped the shoes back to me. Very good job with customer service. We only had two minor complaints. First, there is a small fabrication shop or some other light industrial facility right next door. It wasn't too bad, but it was a bit noisy when we were trying to enjoy our morning coffee on the beautiful screened in porch. It wasn't an issue in the evenings. Also, while we loved having access to the lake and beach, the stairs were a bit challenging (I think I counted 84 of them!). If not for these two relatively minor things it would easily be a 5 star rental. Thanks John!
Cozy, updated, convenient location
Walking in it's clear this place has had a major overhaul recently. Like many rentals it has adequate, if somewhat sparse furnishings. The master bed matress was fine, the twins were not great, but our kids didn't complain. The walk to the beach was a bit treacherous, but it is very pretty and not crowded. Location was very convenient without being on the main drag directly.
We had a great time staying at this cottage. We would definitely stay again if we are ever back in the area.
- Very clean
- Nice updated kitchen
- Good location (close to Benton Harbor, South Haven, highways)
- Two great, big decks (one screened in, the other open out back)
- BBQ available (we did not use it)
- Very responsive for any questions we had
- Beaches close by (note that the private beach is great, but it is a pretty steep climb down to the water. thankfully the path was well maintained, but did have a few wobbly boards so be careful!)
- Agree with other reviews that the dog across the street could be loud, but did not bother us
- The factory next door definitely does have the potential to be loud during the day on a weekday. We did not have a problem with this as we were there mainly on the weekend
Nice clean, well equipped cottage, close to the lake
This cottage was updated, clean and well equipped. It was a quick walk to the lake and convenient for day trips to local lake communities. The small manufacturing plant next door was not a bother, however the neighbors' barking dogs were a bit annoying.
Great location! Responsive owner.
Very clean and conveniently located. Had one minor issue and the owner called us right away. Would've preferred the front door and deck door windows covered for modesty and safety. All in all a very comfortable place for 4 adults. We would definitely stay here again.
This is a fabulous location a few miles north of Saint Joseph. There are restaurants, stores, wineries and golf courses in the area. We are west of M-63 in an area of cottages, small businesses, houses and resorts that has lots and lots of trees.
