What a dump
I have never stayed in a condo or hotel that was so dirty. From the first night the lockbox code to get my keys was wrong. I had to wait an hour and a half to get into my condo. The carpet might have been from the 1980's. The vacuum cleaner didn't work and the bottoms of my feet were black in a couple hours. My whole family was sick. everyday it got worse. By the last night we realized it was dust and something growing in the master bedroom. When I removed the cushions on the hidabed couch the dust in the cushions made me cough. The management company blew off what we had to say. Next person in there later today will have allergy symptoms in the first week. I would not go on vacation if I had to stay at la siesta again. The pool is very nice and warm. Other guests were very friendly. We were informed our condo was owned by a board member.
My name is Dean Chandler and I am the Property Manager at La Siesta. This guest was here for a week and did not contact our office until the day they were checking out. Our procedure clearly states that if there is ANYTHING wrong with their unit to please contact the office within 24 hours after their arrival so we can correct the problem.
KEYS: When this guest arrived we had just switched to a new system when checking in "after hours". There are lock boxes where you are assigned a certain box and code. The procedure is to call the After Hours number if there is a problem. This did take some time to get them in their unit. Since then the system has been tweaked and is working great
CARPET: The carpet is NOT from the 80s, of course. While the carpet is not professionally cleaned after each guest checks out it is vacuumed and if it needs to be professionally cleaned we call a professional to clean it.
SICK: This stay was during a period of time that we (Siesta Key) experienced "Red Tide" which our Rental Agent explained was probably the cause for the cough. Some people are affected more than others during this time period. The guest before and the guest since have not complained about the unit having problem, making them sick.
I regret that this person waited to notify our office until the time of check-out, otherwise we could have corrected the problems that were able to be corrected.
