About Carol

A Washington State native, I am. I grew up in Grays Harbor County the daughter of a logger. Many of my early years were spent in the woods and along the creeks in the area. Husband Jim, was a transplant from North Dakota, at the age of 10, finally settling in Southwest WA, on a farm on Cedar Creek. Lake Cushman and the surrounding pristine forests met our criteria for a 'Home Away From Home'- We are choosing to share our 'CAMP WOLF' so you too can enjoy it, with your family & friends.

Carol purchased this cabin in 1997

Why Carol chose Hood Canal, Olympic Peninsula

We stumbled upon this unique mountain property in the Summer of 1997. A handshake over the phone, helped us secure the deal.

Our family has enjoyed many memorable experiences, as we have explored beautiful Lake Cushman by boat, snorkel and water sport activities.

What makes this cabin unique

Go ahead, come to camp. Forget your troubles and step into a carefree time you have only dreamed of experiencing lately, in this fast paced life.

Go ahead, lay back in the comfy hammock and listen to the tumbling waters just below in the ravine.

Go ahead, grab a cozy sweater and ask someone to join you on the glider swing as you look down into the canyon below and take in the beauty of your surroundings.

Go ahead, enjoy making S'mores as the glowing embers of the campfire keep you toasty. Be sure and glance up at the heavens to see the brightly lit stars as they glisten in the nighttime sky. Night has come the evening invites you inside to play one last game together, before you get into your beds and ponder the day while planning your tomorrows.

Good Night, Jon Boy.

Grandma, is that big bear really dead?

Yes, it is - Go to sleep now.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your cabin is so well appointed and had everything and more that we could have ever needed. We felt so comfortable & really appreciated the memory foam on the bed. I think I slept my first 8 hours in a very long time.

I am already scheming on how & when we can make it back.

Neglected

  • 2 of 5

We stayed here last week in August 2017. Great bones on the place and warm, family touches. However, I think the owners are a bit in over their heads. We arrived to a grease-covered stove & oven, dirty pots and pans, chaotic bed linen situation, and mouldy shower curtain. Lots of other disarray in drawers and equipment porch, but a reasonable VRBO-level that I straightened a bit myself. However, I didn't expect to be cleaning an oven on my vacation (a 2 day ordeal), but we needed it for our planned meals. I called the owner early in on in our visit to give them a heads-up of the situation. The response was a lament of personal medical hardships and the complications involved in owning 8 (*eight*) homes. While I could sympathize with some elements, I disagree with owners' choice to continue renting to the public if they're unable to keep the place clean/hygenic/safe. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this cabin.

Wonderful cabin loaded with sports gear and close to spectacularl hiking. Private lake access just down the road with great swimming, easy drop in for the kayaks and gorgeous scenery all around. Cabin owners are responsive and extremely organized. Highly recommend this property!

Owner's Response: Karen, Thanks for your comments. We appreciated your kind words. It sounds to me like you definitely got out there and fully enjoyed the beauty of the location. Yes, it is a wonderful place to come and I always feel like we are at a "fancy resort" even after owning Camp Wolf for the past 15 years. We never tire of the wonderful things that are right there just waiting for us to experience. Jim & Carol

Comfortable and private

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful Washington getaway this past week at Camp Wolf! Cabin was clean and had all the necessary amenities (except WiFi). We hiked almost every day and spent lots of time at the park nearby kayaking, playing basketball, badminton, and volleyball with my family who were staying at a cabin nearby. I've been to Washington many times but it was the first for my husband and he had a blast!

Owner's Response: We are pleased that you two had such a great time at our cabin. The weather was really co-operating with you. Our new kayak will be a big hit for folks to enjoy the lake this Summer, I'm sure. So glad your husband got to come and see what you can do in our area. The area has many surprises in store for those of you willing to set out and explore your beautiful surroundings. Non stop fun! And you got to experience it for yourselves first hand. Thanks, for coming, Carol & Jim for Camp Wolf
