About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Welcome to Hood Canal! You will enjoy a relaxing get-away in this waterfront home one mile from Hoodsport. Pick up fresh oysters on the beach and enjoy a refreshing swim or go scuba diving. Bring your boat to enjoy additional splendors of the canal: water skiing, fishing, crabbing, and shrimping, when in season (must obtain appropriate permits). The oversize deck offers a gorgeous 180 degree view of the canal and the beach-side firepit provides additional hours of relaxation.

The main floor of the home has two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed. A spacious living and dining area accompany an adjoining kitchen, two bathrooms and a laundry room to complete the main floor. A large, newly finished loft contains two queen-size beds and a crib. In the garage, a ping-pong table and foosball table add another dimension to your stay.

Also included are a 50' flat screen TV with basic cable, DVD player, and wireless internet. There is plenty of parking in the driveway, and the Hoodsport Winery is just across the highway. The home is located near a great dive spot, boat launch, fish hatchery, casino, golf courses, and Lake Cushman. This is the perfect relaxing get-away!

Absolutely Beautiful and Well Appointed

  • 5 of 5

This property on Hood Canal is nothing but amazing! Extremely well kept up and clean. Comfortable and inviting. This house is stocked with every conceivable amenity you can think of...from hair dryers and curling irons to any kitchen appliances and tools you could ask for. From children's sippy cups....Martini glasses...Margarita glasses....Wine glasses....to Iced Beer mugs in the freezer!

The owners were more than accommodating and wonderful to deal with. We got back less than 24 hours ago and I've already told four people about it. I'm planning on returning as soon as I can!

This is the BEST place ever!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this house in Hoodsport! So roomy, beautiful view, comfy beds, nice bathrooms, nice big deck, fully stocked kitchen, and an owner that was so nice that we truly wish we could have met him! Our group was my husband and I, our son and his wife, and their two kids, ages 1 1/2 and 4 1/2. The kids found a closet full of toys to play with, and never played with the toys they brought along. There were outlet covers and night lights aplenty. My son's family slept in the loft with 2 queen beds, a twin bed and a crib. My granddaughter kept saying, "Come on up to our room so we can play, Grandma!" The washer and dryer were a welcome sight, as we had been on the road for a week by the time we got there. I quickly washed a couple of loads of clothes, and we were good to go! And, you wouldn't believe how well labeled everything was. The light switches, the drawers, the cupboards - everything! Very helpful in a big house! There are more dishes, pots and pans, appliances, serving dishes, baking pans, roasting forks, etc. there than I have at home. Even a coffee grinder, which my son loved after getting some coffee beans at the Hoodsport Coffee Co.! There was plenty of space in the large living room for everyone to sit (and my son to lay down) and walk around, even with toys all over the floor! They furnished numerous brochures about the area, which we checked often. The IGA grocery store is very close, and had everything we needed. The kids loved being on the beach collecting rocks and shells. And it was great watching the tide come in and go out (we don't have tides in MN). It was amazing to see the difference between high and low tide. Jim is the perfect host! I'm sure I bugged him too much with questions, etc. before we got there, and I even accidentally called him once, but he was very gracious about it. We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck - also generously furnished with 2 picnic tables, 4 comfy chairs, a gas grill, and a smaller table with 4 chairs. We could have easily brought 4 more people with us! And there is also a fire pit on the beach, with chairs and wood galore, so we roasted marshmellows and made smores one night. We had beautiful weather while we were there, which made it even more enjoyable. The view was spectacular! There was heavy fog one morning, and it was wondrous watching the sun peak through it and burn off. Took lots of pictures! Thanks, Jim and family, for a wonderful vacation! Wish we'd stayed longer!

Best vacation home I've ever rented!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for a small get together for my Dad's memorial service.

Jim was very nice. I've rented several other vacation homes and I had the most personable experience working with him. I didn't feel like I was just another customer, he made us feel at home and was very responsive if I had any questions at any time.

The house was way bigger than I imagined, but it was perfect. The open floor concept for the living room, dining room, kitchen AND deck was very convenient when visiting with the family and cooking. This was a very emotional time for all of us, but this home was very warm and inviting.

My husband and I were very impressed with this home and we're already considering visiting again next year, hopefully for a better reason.

Thank you Jim for making us feel so welcome.

Hood Canal Home

The home was lovely and filled with an atmosphere of happiness. Jim is pleasant to work with and a gracious individual as well. Our family enjoyed the fresh oysters for lunch and had a great time with ping pong and foos ball! Ideal place for a family retreat. Thanks to the housekeeping as well, did a tremendous job! Fully stocked everything and the labeling was helpful!

Home away from Home

  • 4 of 5

We loved the spaciousness of the home and the whimsical decor. It is very well-furnished with comfortable sofas for all. Beds very comfortable and high quality linens and also towels. The kitchen was very well equipped and we appreciated that it was labeled so you knew where to find what you need but also knew where to put items back for the next guest. The cabin felt like visiting with a relative - it made you feel very much at home. We loved seeing the family photos lining the hallway as it made us feel more connected to the generations of this family home. It is very well stocked with all cooking utensils and pots & pans and dishes. The bathrooms also are very well supplied even with shampoo & conditioner and body wash which was a nice surprise. The owner, Jim Steinruck, was very professional and pleasant to work with through the entire process. We would highly recommend this property to anyone! We would definitely consider a return visit.
