Over all a great place

Short walk to the beach not very busy area. Right next to the pool. The roof top deck was damaged before we got there and were not able to use it but the owner made that right with us so we have no issues with that. The only problems I would say is the couch on the second floor seems to be falling in like a support is broken and the queen bed downstairs has a lot of "tacoing" where my wife and I ended up right on top of each other. But I would definitely stay here again. Stayed with 2 families (4 adults and 5 kids)

Don't rent this facility

We're 3 generations that have vacationed 30A annually for a decade. We're not wild college kids. Not our 1st rodeo. We’re respectful renters. Genuinely love 30A. 1-Booking: Submitted 50% dep on 2/4. On 3/21 owner questioned if we “qualified." They had incorrect guest # & rudely implied we were college kids w/out chaperones. Bad vetting process. I understand they have to check. Fine, but why 6 wks after accepting dep? Had there been an issue would’ve been impossible to find rental in late Mar. After I confirmed we're a family, they were nice. Initial & untimely interrogation was just poor. 2-Poor Communication: Major comm issues btwn owner management VRBO & HA. When hadn’t heard arrival instructions DAY BEFORE, I contacted owner myself & was told, “My management company, Sandcastle Escapes, has been trying to get in touch with you this week.” If they haven’t gotten me, why is no one checking email add? They had it wrong. With electronic submissions that shouldn’t be issue. I called SE & gave correct address. Still no email. Called again & had misspelled in a new way! Why no call or email from the owner who had been communicating with us? We ended up receiving arrival info 3 hrs before 1st car arrived. 3-Parking: If you’re looking to NEVER relax, stay here. Who can afford a home this size & fit in 2 cars? There's access to 1 addl visitor spot. This house sleeps 12. Packing luggage, beach items, 12 bodies & supplies still won’t fit in 3 cars. We had 4 couples from diff states so we had 4 cars. Ppl were taking photos of license plates, being rude & we even saw a tow on another vehicle. We ended up parking behind gas station. Sketchy. Mgmt either circles or has ppl watching. Not kidding. My poor mother could barely rest for counting, checking & worrying our cars were safe bc even when parked correctly were harassed. 4-Home: Terrible climate control & wifi. Found wet linens in wshng mchn. King pillows in std cases. No toilet brushes. Fridge reeked of seafood. A pro cleaning service should scrub & baking soda. Gross. Were not allowed access to upper deck. Was poorly explained (during hellish day of bad communication). Were given $100 card but expressed it wasn't ok w/ us. Never addressed. I explicitly said I was unhappy. In conclusion if you’re looking to relax away from real-life & stress u won’t get it here. Bc of cutthroat parking, ownership has created culture of angst. We’ve experienced many 30A spots & were shocked at general feel here.

Owner's Response: Lauren, First, I would like to say that I am so sorry that your vacation was not wonderful, as I would have expected! I realize that when you book a property early, you can forget a lot of the information that was provided originally when your vacation is not for months. I was quite surprised by this review, especially after I went back and looked at our correspondence regarding parking spaces (2 are mentioned on our VRBO website), number of people in the unit (either you hit 16 by mistake or VRBO malfunctioned that day) and legal renting age (12 people is always a red flag for us – so we make sure chaperones are along if high school or college groups are renting). You didn’t seem offended in your reply – please refer to our dialogue which I copied from the VRBO website: Wed 3/22/2017 8:47 AM Lauren, Thanks for getting back to me so soon! I hadn't seen the 16 people before now, and we always panic that we will rent to a huge group of students who will trash our place. So happy to know it is families! I think you will have a great time! The bunk bed room is huge, so if you need to bring an air mattress, one fits great up there! I also wanted to let you know that along with the 2 spaces( for unit 8) you do get a pass for one Visitor spot. There are 4 total visitor spaces - first come, first serve. I suggest that whoever arrives first, try to capture one of the visitor spots and try not to move that car. Sandcastle Escapes, our management company will be in touch with you regarding your check-in procedures etc. Michele Bryan Your Response: That sounds great! We understand. I would be terrified of my house getting trashed. So grateful that we get to enjoy it this summer for a week. :-) Thanks for the tips on parking. We will be on the lookout for contact from your management company soon. Thanks again and let us know if you need any other info from us. So in conclusion, our roof top should be completed by October – it was supposed to be completed by May. I wish I would have known so I could have told you when you booked! I will definitely speak to the cleaning crew checking for things in the washing machine. Future renters should not have these same issues if they carefully read through the information supplied on our website. I am sorry that things were not satisfactory for your trip. Our goal is to have our renters leave happy and we will try harder to make communication run smoother between the guests and the management company.

Beautiful home, gracious owner but a few issues

This was a beautiful, well appointed home with plenty of space for everyone! The walk to the beach took less than five minutes and was also a very nice bike ride. The pool is also very nice and easily accessible to the unit. We absolutely loved the food at the restaurants right next-door to Thirty Blu! We go to 30A several times a year and I could kick myself that I had never tried the pizza at Johnny McTighe's Irish Pub!! It was amazing, as was everything on their menu.

The owner was extremely gracious and helpful. She allowed me to check in early on my day of arrival because no one had rented the week before. However, this is where the problems began… With the management company. The house was supposed to be ready for me at noon but they had not inspected it yet even though it had sat empty for a week. No big deal but I ended up waiting for it for over an hour.

I had to call management several times that week about some minor issues which were taken care of promptly. However, I had to call them several times to fix the air conditioner on the top level. It took 2 calls and 2 days for them to respond to my first call. They just never showed up when they said they would the day after the first call I made. A few hours after the technician left, the air conditioner stopped working again. So, I gave it a day to see if it would cool down but it did not so they sent the same technician out. Once again, I got about 4 hours of cool air! By this point, it was Thursday and I was tired of calling management about it. I decided to tough it out for 2 nights. 4 girls and I had to sleep in 85-88 degrees until I checked out on Saturday morning. This was quite miserable! I had emailed the owner to let her know what was going on and I know she made efforts to resolve the problem. I told her I did not want the next people checking in to have to go through what I did but seeing the review before mine tells me they did. This was definitely an issue with the management company, not the owner!

This was probably an isolated incident so I would definitely recommend this place to anyone considering renting it. It is especially great if you have multiple children as I do and they each want their own living space.

Beautiful townhome with a few caveats ...

This is a beautiful town home in a beautiful location. I was worried because the home is farther from the beach than the last place I stayed. But I found the walk to the beach to be pleasant.

The house itself is beautiful and tastefully decorated. But it would not be a good fit for anyone with mobility issues. It is three floors, with the main living space on the second floor. And the lovely tall ceilings make for long staircases!

I loved the ample space for people to spread out as there are two living areas, a TV room on the ground floor and the living-dining-kitchen level on the 2nd floor. We ceded the downstairs to two teenage boys who were in heaven. The third floor has a master suite and the bunk room. The bunk room was surprisingly spacious. I also loved having four bathrooms.

On the down side, I had a small issue with the management company. The upstairs air conditioner was out when we arrived, which made unloading the car (and carrying bags to the third floor), hot and unpleasant. I called the management company immediately, but since we had just checked in they wanted us to see if it would cool while we were there. Of course, it didn't. It was 84 degrees upstairs (76 outside). A few hours after our arrival, the temperature upstairs was 85, and the management company finally called for a service technician. Someone came later that night and fixed the problem, but it took overnight for the top floor to cool down. I also called to report that the blinds on one of the ground floor doors had come out of the wall. The management company said they would send someone out the next day, but they didn't. It wasn't a big enough deal for me to continue calling.

Finally, the kitchen is not well-equipped for cooking. If all you are doing is making sandwiches, scrambling eggs, or boiling pasta, you're fine. Anything beyond that is difficult given the lack of cooking tools, such as measuring spoons, a full set of measuring cups, a potato masher, a grater etc. Since most folks don't go to the beach to cook, this likely isn't a problem for most.

Beautiful modern beach home close to the Beach

We couldn't have stayed in a more beautiful setting! Due to a vacation home fallout we had on our way to Florida, Michele was able to accommodate our 13 person party in such short notice and we were able to stay in this modern updated 4 story home. Everyone had a room and bathroom. The kids enjoyed going up and down the stairs and we enjoyed the top floor balcony with an amazing view. Walking distance to the beach and an awesome ice cream shop on the corner.
