About the Property

Brand new cabin on the Thorton River next to the Shenandoah National Park

Brand new, beautiful cabin at the gateway of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah National Park. Designed as a couple’s mountain retreat, the cabin is located on the Thorton River and just steps away from a trailhead into the National Park. No need to drive to take a hike from the quiet wooded hollow. Fly-fish and watch wildlife. Sip an espresso while relaxing on the porch in cozy rockers. Enjoy an evening campfire around the fire-pit. Or just listen to river as you swing in the comfy hammock.
Just minutes away to Skyline Drive with spectacular views, cascading waterfalls, and earthcaching in the mountains. Canoe or tube in the nearby Shenandoah River. Visit Luray Caverns, the most popular cave in Eastern America.
Horseback riding, vineyards with wine tasting, orchards, seasonal farmers markets, art galleries and quaint antique shops are just down the road.
Local restaurants provide homemade pizza and barbeque to gourmet restaurants, including the 5-star Inn at Little Washington. As you turn off Hwy 211 to the cabin’s hollow, stop at Roy’s Orchards for fresh apples or peaches, glass bottled milk, and other locally grown foods.

Manager info

Year Purchased: 2012

About: A city boy and country girl growing up in two different places (the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Mexico City), we both share a love for beautiful places where we can take long walks, dip our feet in water, and meet new people. We have traveled around the world in our work with Fair Trade yet knew the minute we visited this area, this would be our special place to build our cabin.

Why Sperryville, VA, USA:
We love the beach where we live in Delaware yet we missed seeing trees and wildlife and hiking in the mountains. Now our dream of building a mountain retreat has come true. We choose Sperryville because it is the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature and has many interesting places to visit. We decided to share our little cabin with others so they, too, can love the hollow!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The focus of the cabin are the big porches with comfy rocking chairs to read, a hammock to nap, and tables to eat outside in the screened part. At night we have a campfire outside and a lovely glass-front wood stove to take the chill off. A loft to do yoga or mediate adds to the deep relaxation we all need from our hectic lives. A fully equipped kitchen also lets us take time to prepare a great meal.
