Great location, nice house

Excellent location for walking with 8min walk access to beach, up to the beach cliffs, and into the beautiful neighborhood (walk up the hill and look for the secret path to hope ranch neighborhood) . Great backyard for working, eating and hanging out, not sure there is great space for kids but lovely for adults. House is nice, everything worked great, got to go to the garage for access to laundry and dryer but thats just there and they worked great.

Disappointed

Wonderful location, quiet and safe neighborhood. Hendry’s beach is a short walk from this property. NUMEROUS cleanliness issues (fell far short of expected standards), also maintenance and upkeep issues with the house.

I am very sorry you were disappointed. This is the first complaint I have ever received about cleanliness, and we pride ourselves on the condition of the house and yard. When you called to let me know about your concerns, I had the Housecleaner come over immediately and take care of anything you requested. I will always respond quickly and thoroughly to any dissatisfaction with the property.

Nostalgic

This lovely, updated and spacious home reminds me so much of my childhood home. It is extremely quiet in the neighborhood, and it is just a few blocks (definitely walking distance) from a lovely beach. You can feel the love in the house; I'm willing to bet that many happy memories were created in it! I highly recommend this house as a rental; the owners were gracious and easy to communicate with.

A beach house dream come true!

We loved everything about this home! The location is fabulous, with walking distance to the most popular, “locals beach” ( Hendry’s) and Beach House Restaurant, also walking distance to Douglas Preserve, both options are THE sunset destinations for Locals. The house has 4 great bedrooms and 2 perfect bathrooms, great kitchen, everything beautifully remodeled. My favorite part was the huge back garden with orange and lemon trees and flowers blooming year round! The nicest owners were very helpful. We spent 4 months, and if I could, I would have stayed until I was 102 years old like the owner’s father did! Great grocery shopping and restaurants up the road and neighboring the exclusive Hope Ranch, it is the best location. Very safe area and many good vibes, the California dream beach house!

Loved our stay here in Santa Barbara

This was our first time visiting Santa Barbara so we didn't know what to expect. We wanted to escape the heat in Palm Springs and this was a great place to be in July. I can't say anything more about the house that the other reviews didn't already mention, and that is what convinced us to stay at this location. There is golf and pickleball nearby, and we did several day trips to surrounding areas to explore. The beach is really close and a nice walk to there. We dined out at some of the many nearby restaurants and also cooked many meals. The kitchen is well stocked, there are bikes in the garage, cable tv is provided, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are great. Christy is a wonderful host, it was great meeting her and talking about the area. I would definitely stay here again if we pick this area to visit in the future.

Loved everything about this property and wish we could have stayed longer. It was perfect for several of us staying for our class reunion plus family coming at different times. Close to beaches and restaurants. Home was decorated with art from local artists. Be sure to go to the Arts in the Park on Sundays. Christy and Tim responded instantly to any questions we had.

Great Location with Quick and Easy Walk to Beach

We loved our walks on the beach that was just a short walk from the home. The backyard was also a great to sit under the big tree and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. We had a glorious time. Tim and Christy are great hosts and communicate well via VRBO messaging. The home had a great kitchen and we love to cook our meals, especially getting fresh seafood from Santa Barbara Fish Market. Thank you Tim and Christy for a great home and visit to Santa Barbara. P.S. The backyard has some amazing hummingbirds.

Splendid !!

We so enjoyed our time at Campanil ! The house is so quaint and cozy , clean and in a lovely quiet neighborhood . It is a 5 min walk to the beach . The back yard has the most beautiful landscaping , that consists of a butterfly garden , flowers , succulents and fruit trees . The owners shared their delicious plums from the plum tree with us and fresh grown tomatoes . There were also lemon and orange trees . The owners were very attentive to all our needs during our stay . Thank you Christy and Tim for a making our time in Santa Barbara so special . We will be back !

Lovely, comfortable hideaway!

We had the best time here- didn’t want to leave. The backyard is glorious and wonderful for all ages. Just open up the French doors and you can live outside. Christy and Tim were so responsive and helpful. Can’t wait to come back.

Great Santa Barbara stay

We just loved staying at Christy and Tim's home. We were there almost 4 months. We walked to the beach every day. Lots of outdoor activities around. Their yard is beautiful and full of fruit trees. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend the property to others looking for a cozy, convenient retreat. The house itself was well stocked & Christy/Tim were very accommodating and respectful to any requests we had. This is a 5 star home in a 5 star location.

A comfortable place like home near headlands and the beach

We spent a wonderfully peaceful month there including a pleasant Christmas week with our grown kids. Location ideal. Parking in driveway for 2-3 cars. We used public bus for a month with no issues. 5 min walk to bus stop. 2km walk (or bus ride) to the closest grocery store, 25 min bus ride to downtown. 8 min walk to a beautiful beach which also has the Boathouse, a nice restaurant. 6 min or less walk to 3 different park areas, 2 have stunning headland views of the ocean and the Channel Islands. There are bikes in the garage if you desire. Totally remodeled in the last few years. Very well-equipped kitchen with all gear and modern appliances we needed to prepare several gourmet meals. Indeed the entire house was thoughtfully stocked. Nice large screen tv and excellent, stable wifi/internet. All bedrooms have very comfortable beds. One bedroom is separate with en suite bathroom. One of the other bedrooms has a separate door to the main bathrooom. Natural lighting in the family room is good with a sunlight as well as glass-panelled front door and wide french doors to the backyard, although the place gets a little chilly in the morning. The backyard is immaculately landscaped and delightful to sit out in and read. Our family photo taken in the backyard looks like it was taken at a wedding venue. The neighborhood is old and well-established with markedly friendly neighbors. Our overall impression was quite positive. We had a wonderful time.

What a great family home!So many extras added for your a very relaxing and welcoming holiday. Immediately entering Arroyo Burro Beach Retreat you know you will be soon in a holiday mood...Christy and Tim have thought of what you might need for a growing family and added extra touches for many activities . Surprisingly, the Sun shines quickly warms the air I can hardly believe it is Winter.Nearby is The Boathouse to drop in for a coffee and walk along the beach....I will always fondly remember my holiday in Santa Barbara and say thank you to Christy and Tim. Lovely -- So Comfortable and Convenient

Everything about this lovely home says, "Beach." The location -- within walking distance of the adorable Arroyo Burro Beach -- is ideal. The surroundings are beautiful -- inside and out! A special plus is the proximity to the Douglas Preserve, ideal for morning walks overlooking the ocean. There are even tennis courts nearby, and of course the city of Santa Barbara with all it has to offer is just a short car ride away. The place comes very well equipped and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. We were here for a month and could easily have stayed longer. Maybe next year!

Simply amazing!

This house is wonderful! The owners made us feel welcome and were responsive to all of our questions and requests. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything needed. We hosted a BBQ for 20 people on then patio, and had everything we needed for cooking and serving. The bedrooms are comfortable, and everything is clean and updated. The proximity to Hendry's Beach made our stay delightful, and our granddaughters spend many happy hours taking advantage of the boogie boards and bikes that are available at the house. We had a great time in Santa Barbara, and will undoubtedly return to this property again and again.

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful house. There was everything there that you might need. Really enjoyed the big garden. It is set in a quiet neighborhood. The beach is really close with a great beach restaurant. The owners of the house were really nice and helpful.

What a gem! I didn't want to leave!

Our family stayed at the Arroyo Burro Beach Retreat for 5 weeks and it wasn't enough time for us. After the first week, I already knew that it wasn't going to be enough time for us. The property is really special -- the location is within easy walking distance to Arroyo Burro Beach. I loved taking the kids to the beach to play and my husband loved going on early morning surf sessions. And it is so easy to get to everything -- downtown was a 10-minute drive, UCSB was an easy 15 minutes away and when we wanted to explore other beaches, you could be at Leadbetter Beach in 10 or East Beach in 15. There is a great hiking trail that starts near the beach that goes through the Douglas Family Preserve. It really is so ideal for exploring. The house has such a sweet family history that you can see how it was lovingly remodeled with so much care. It's very clean, updated and very spacious. The living room gets wonderful light from the skylight. It has everything you need for a relaxing stay. What I will miss the most is the backyard. It is so peaceful and brought so much joy to our family. The patio area felt like an extension of the living space of the house because it's perfect for barbecuing and entertaining with lots of space. I took many naps on the lounger under the shade of the beautiful tree. My children loved eating delicious plums straight from the tree and running around in the yard. Sigh...I am already missing being there! The owner, Christy, is very easy to communicate with and really kind to my children. She let them garden with her (...more like follow her around while she gardened) and patiently listened to them rattle on endlessly. We had a really amazing experience from beginning to end and can't recommend Arroyo Burro Beach Retreat enough. I am already lobbying to come back next year!

Peaceful, sunny, beachy luxury!

This spacious, 4-bedroom house was a perfect place to relax. It's located on a quiet street, just 1/2 mile from one of the most popular beaches in Santa Barbara. The large backyard and patio were very inviting and peaceful. I will definitely go again!
