About Charles Littwin

We are Charlie and Patti and enjoy the Outer Banks so much that we decided to buy. When we are not at the home we decided to open it up to guests.

Charles Littwin purchased this house in 2012

Why Charles Littwin chose Hatteras Island

4Play is completely renovated - everything is Brand New and High End! You will feel at home when you walk through the door! The street is quiet and many are owners. We have stayed everywhere in the Outer Banks and found Avon to offer the most and be the best place to stay!

What makes this house unique

New bamboo floors throughout the open floor plan, modern natural hickory cabinets with granite countertop kitchen with all the amenities, large flat screen TV and infrared fireplace in living room, flat screen TVs in all bedrooms, washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, Gas (not briquettes) grill, WiFi and Cable TV. 2 decks (1 screened in and 1 for cooking out on), and Wii, DVD, and board games for indoor play,.

There is great fishing both on the pier and surf fishing on the beach. Kiters can walk out to the beach or across the street for the Sound. Kite point and Canadian Hole are a short 7 minute drive.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house seems really loved. I appreciate that the appliances were very very clean, in most places I run an empty round before cooking as I'm very particular about cleanliness - but did not have to do it at your place. Also thanks for the wifi, was very helpful with my little son wanting to watch videos online.

As advertised, nice floor plan, house was comfortable.

I enjoyed my stay at 4Play. Nice house, nice location. Complaints - Keurig was not working properly and mattress in the red room probably needed to be replaced. Overall, I would highly recommend this house.

Summer Time Fun!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip out to the Outer Banks and we couldn't have had a better visit. The house was perfect for us. If and when we come back we will be sure to consider staying there again. We planned on taking full advantage of the beach during our stay, and we definitely were able to do that! Perfect location for quick access to the beach and perfect location to walk to nearby restaurants and shops. There was construction going on next door, so maybe not the most pleasant noise to hear in the morning, however it didn't at all interfere with the fact that we were on VACATION. :) and it surely didn't take away from the comfort of the home.

Fun in the Sun

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time staying in this lovely home. It's close to everything which made it very convenient for our family with young children. There is construction going on in the neighborhood but it wasn't a bother to us, we were just happy to feel at home, so far away from our own!

Great Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in the 4 Play house twice now and each trip has been amazing. The owners are very friendly and the house is always clean. We loved the location as it was right next to the beach access and only a short walk on the beach to the pier. The house has a fun and relaxing vibe. We bring many surfboards with us and there is plenty of space and surf racks for storing them overnight. The fire pit is very nice and the owners supply wood and kindling. We all loved being on the beach all day and sitting by the fire at night. There is a house being built next door but we never had any issue with construction noise. We were on the beach most of the day but even when we came back for lunch we didn't notice any noise. When we came home for dinner the workers had already gone home for the day. We have stayed in many houses in Rodanthe and Hatteras but the 4 Play house is by far our favorite. I would recommend this house to all of my friends and family and we will be back every year.

The perfect place

  • 5 of 5

For all but two of the 7 of us guys it was our first trip to the Outer Banks. I'm in my fifties and most were in their 20's/30's. We went down to kite surf and to learn to kite surf on our fathers & sons adventure. Though of few slept in from time to time, we were gone much of the day until dinner time for many of the days we had stayed. Though they were building a brand new home next to us, we never really noticed it. This place met all our needs and was a great price, especially being just over the dune from the ocean. We didn't realize it until later after touring around the peninsula, how great a location we had. In my opinion, Avon is the best spot within 30 miles either direction. My brother who was not a part of the trip, encouraged us to stay there since he travels to this area every year.

Charlie, was a great host and very accommodating. He didn't have too, but did go the extra mile to help us with our trip on more than one occasion. The home was set up great with 3 bedrooms and two baths. One of the guys couldn't get over how nice the outside shower facility was for cleaning off after hitting the surf. He was surprised it had both hot & cold running water along with several other outdoor taps near the car port to rinse our stuff off.

We have already started talking about coming back later in the year which is sooner than we expected. This place is first on our list to use again when we do. Charlie, thank you for creating a very peaceful & quiet home for our guys' getaway. It was the right choice.

The Boys & the wanna-be kite surfing dude from the beautiful 1000 Islands, Upstate NY.

Great location and a nice house but the owner failed to mention the house being built 20 feet away

  • 3 of 5

Great location with the beach being just a 2-3 minute walk away. The beach was not packed and the sand was clean to play/walk on. The house itself was nicely setup with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Restaurants were close and we walked to get ice cream at night.

The reason I can't give it 5 stars is right next door (I mean like 20 feet right outside of 2 of the bedrooms) there was a new house being built. It was very loud and construction started every morning at 7 am sharp and went to about 5-6 pm non stop. Loud trucks pulling in and out all day long. The house has a very nice screened in porch which we could not use because of the noise. We could not hear ourselves talk out there. I feel this should have been mentioned when we booked it. If anyone rents this house in the next couple of months they will have the same issues. If anything we should have gotten a discount to offset having to put up with the construction.

Owner's Response: Hello Jason, We have only been to the house twice this year and the first time we were there the construction had not started, so we were unaware of the construction. With that said, none of the other 15 guests this year had a problem with the noise. We were at our beach house over the July 4 weekend and the exterior of the house next door is nearly completed so I am sure the noise level will be much less as the work progresses into the interior finishing phase. We are very reasonable owners and would have bent over backwards to reach a satisfactory resolution had you contacted us with your concerns before posting this review.

Avon is a mecca for water sports, fishing and the uncrowded beaches that are not found any where else on the East coast! Avon offers the most amenities of all the villages on the island! The pier is within a short walk for fishing or as an enjoyable time sitting out looking over the ocean. Restaurants of all kinds are close by to walk to or there is even one that offers to pick you up and take you back. Best of all... there is a grocery store right across the street if you want to keep costs down and do your own cooking.......Looking to take kite boarding lessons? OBX is the place! We highly recommend Ty of Kite Hatteras, a true pioneer of the sport!
