"Wow!" is the usual reaction of folks seeing the view from this traditional Hawaiian home. Furnished comfortably, with attention to detail for a wonderful, relaxing vacation. Spectacular sunsets. In winter, humpback whales cavort in the ocean just below the house. At night, you can sleep to the sound of the surf in most rooms. The house is located in a tranquil neighborhood. It is NOT a party house. Please beware of fraudulent listing on crg list. IMPORTANT: Due to a city ordinance, I am limited to 12 guest groups per year "30 day minimum." Contact owner for clarification. A new ordinance, effective April 21, 2023, limits rentals to 90+ days. THIS PROPERTY IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR CORPORATE / LONG TERM RENTAL. Monthly rate $9,000 per month. This is a wonderful home for entertaining. Long term tenants may entertain at will. Your guests will be impressed. Contact owner for more information. SORRY, BUT I CANNOT TAKE THE RISK OF $10,000 PER DAY FINES FOR BOOKING YOU FOR THE VACATION YOU WANT.

Hale Pomaika'i (blessing house) is 5 minutes from churches, restaurants, shopping (including Costco, and Safeway), and many activities. Less than a half hour to Waikiki, nightlife, airport, historic Honolulu, Chinatown, wonderful beaches and much more.

One bed has views of Honolulu city lights. Master bath toilet has an ocean view! Tiled, blanketed pool--water temperature usually 82o. Gas BBQ grill, beach equipment, indoor and outdoor dining room furniture, wet bar, 52' x 16' covered lanai. Well equipped kitchen. Separate owner studio with separate entrance on premises. 60" Sony HDTV with Apple TV 4th Gen and password protected WiFi for guests. USB charging stations in all bedrooms. Beach toys, books, hangers and dishes for kids. Ramps for wheelchairs or scooters and extra grab bars in showers/tubs. Off street parking for 2 cars. Ceiling fans in the rooms that need them.

Southeast bedroom: 1 queen bed; home office.
Northeast bedroom: twin over full bunk bed; separate twin bed.
The east side bedrooms share a full bath. The hall between these rooms can be closed off.

Northwest bedroom: twin beds that can be made into a king bed with a memory foam topper.
Southwest bedroom (master): twin beds that can be made into a king bed with a memory foam topper.
The master bedroom has a full ensuite bath with sunken tub/shower. Next to the ensuite is a half bath that can be used by occupants of the northwest bedroom. They will have to share the shower/tub with the master bath.
Three twin size futons (without frames) are available for sleeping outside or for extra guests.

An awesome property for the whole family!

We stayed here in July (3 adults and 3 kids) and had an amazing time! The pool was great (it is heated!), we swam every single day, the view from the back is amazing! The house had plenty of space / beds for all of us, and Peggy was an amazing host! We will be back!!

Lovely home

We absolutely loved staying here, the location was perfect for us to split time between Waikiki and the eastern shore. House had everything we needed and the view was spectacular. Lovely park just a minute walk from the front door, we enjoyed watching the surf come in. Highly recommended!

Amazing view

The location was perfect if you want to be close enough to Waikiki but not have to deal with the hustle of the city. The house overlooks the ocean right above China walls and is just a couple minutes walk to the water. Peggy was amazing and available if we ever needed anything.

Beautiful Property

Margaret is such an amazing human with stories that you can sit and listen to all night long. The home sits on a beautiful rock cliff overlooking the ocean, where we watched several whales from the back patio. I would definitely visit again. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality <3

Beautiful Sunsets/Fantastic Location

We were a family of 9 ranging in age from 7 to 71. This beautiful home offered something for all of us. The sunset here would be hard to match anywhere else in the world. Peggy is a great hostess. Everything we could have ever needed was provided.

Great location, great house!

Our family had an extended stay of 10 days and loved every minute of it! Great location to head out to visit places. And then we came back and relaxed, wonderful. House was plenty big for all of us, 4 families each had their own bedroom. While it was a bit brisk for the pool most of the time, we did go in and enjoy it several times. Thanks for making our stay a wonderful experience.

Unfortunately, I didn't hear that the pool blanket fell apart until too late to get a replacement that would have warmed up the pool for you. Now that I know that they don't even last a year, I'll have a replacement scheduled regularly.

Perfect spot to stay

WOW!!! We loved our stay, beautiful property. Peggy was a great host and always available for any questions that we had. The view and the house were perfect for us, we had 6 adults and 6 grandchildren. The pool was a hit! To be able to spend 8 days all together in one place, cook meals, BBQ and swim. We also saw whales spouting from our patio and the sunsets were spectacular. We will be going back to this location on out next family vacation.

Feels like a home away from home

This home was perfect for our entire family to enjoy our Easter vacation. When you walk into the home you immediately feel the warmth and love that has been there over the years. Then you see the VIEW!!! Every aspect of this home was exactly as advertised - I just can't say enough - everything was perfect. AND Pegge is a wonderful host! We hope to stay here again. This house is great for families. The owner is on site which makes it extremely easy to contact her if you require anything. It is a beautiful place and very historic. I absolutely loved watching the whales and the view of Diamond Head. I am from the islands and it was great to spend our vacation on a side we never seem to stay on. Being at this house made everything so convenient. You are close to town but not in town, if that makes sense. I highly recommend this beautiful place…especially if you have a family.

Spectacular view and warmest aloha

The view is stunning. The pool is amazing. The neighborhood location is awesome and convenient to so much, yet private and serene. The home is larger enough for many. We were in town for a University of Hawaii graduation so the home was a perfect retreat. The home owner was nearby, attentive and delightful. BONUS- we had numerous whale breaches -late season- right off the pool. Magical.

Beautiful Home and View

Our visit to this beautiful home was wonderful. The property manager, Eddie, was easy to deal with and made our stay comfortable. The owner, Margaret, welcomed by email and left lots information that helped us understand the importance of the house and its environment! We had nine family members and the bedrooms and bathrooms and living spaces all worked very well. The history of the house is most interesting and we felt like valued family visitors for our week in Hawaii. we would definitely rent this house again, if we have that opportunity!! Great experience

My sisters and I’s family stayed at this beautiful home for 6 night (4/18-4/23). The pictures on line do not do the view of the ocean from the back patio justice. The back patio has a panoramic view of Maunalua Bay with Dimond head off to the right, its truly beautiful. The entrance to ‘China Walls’ surf area was right in the neighborhood and a local favorite. The home was clean, well-kept and the on-site host Peggy could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The home is about 2,000 SQF, central kitchen and living room and fit our party of 8 nicely. The home was equipped with AC which was a huge plus! Sunsets are perfect, we enjoyed many evenings outside grilling and soaking in the Hawaii life. Overall I would for sure stay here again, Peggy and the home were wonderful!!

Amazing Property

We loved our stay so much! The property exceeded our expectations and Peggy was a fantastic host! First of all the location was perfect for us. It close enough to get to lots of great hikes, beaches, and attractions, but we were in a beautiful neighborhood rather that a tourist spot. We loved the pool and the amazing views of the ocean. We enjoyed eating our meals and spending as much time as possible outside. The house worked fantastic for our group of 6 adults and 3 children under 4. We had plenty of room for all. The kitchen was well stocked with a variety of pots, pans, and dishes we had no trouble cooking a lot of our dinners there. Peggy was available if needed for questions and suggestions for places to visit and we enjoyed our conversations with her. We would highly recommend this property. Thank you so much Peggy!

Great Place for Families

Margaret, Thank you very much for sharing your home with my family. We spent 10 great days at your home. The location is gorgeous with great sunsets and in a very quiet corner of Hawaii Kai. Each family member had their own room. The pool was perfect for us and there were lots of pool accessories that were available for us to use. It was like a second home to us. There were plenty of amenities that were provided so we didn't need to pack as much as we normally do. Costco, groceries and dining are all within a 10 minute drive of the home. Hanauma Bay is just on the other side of Koko Crater and only 5 minutes away by car. We will definitely stay here again if we come with our extended family. Thanks. Van

Great home for a family vacation with view

Great communication with property owner. Very informative. She took the time to put together a cute house manual that I actually read. The house was clean, and fully stocked. No need to buy your own toilet paper, paper towels, and even laundry detergent! The kids enjoyed the pool and the adults enjoyed the view. The only thing I would say that’s negative is the house manager can pop up at any time unannounced which is bad because there is a shower outside that we used a lot to rinse off. There was definitely a close call once. Other then that, I do highly recommend.

The caretaker is a great guy. He means well and can be a wonderful resource. He will now get a contact phone number from each guest and phone guests before paying a visit.

Beyond our expectations

First time staying in a vacation rental and our experience with Peggy and her property will have us coming back to her home whenever we visit the islands. Peggy was an amazing host who was very welcoming from day one. She truly has the aloha spirit. She had instructions printed out on the dining room table that were thorough and very easy to follow, and she was also readily available via phone if need be. The house itself was very spacious, comfortable, located in a perfect location in Oahu with an amazing view of the ocean and Diamondhead. And the pool made for a great way to cool down and relax after spending the day at the beach, hiking, walking the Waikiki strip, etc. We planned this trip because we were dropping off our oldest at Chaminade, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the memories we created staying in Peggy’s home. I was uncertain of the 5-star reviews before booking, but after spending 16 days at this home, now I understand the stellar rating. Mahalo nui loa, Peggy, for sharing your home with us!

Stunning views with pool

Overall, this home is located in the perfect spot for vacationers and locals alike. Being near pharmacies/stores in Hawaii Kai was convenient yet tucked away from the bustle of tourists. The lanai is a postcard of the Pacific Ocean. Pictures won't do it justice. We rented to visit local family with vacationers ages 2-70. The house was appointed with great beach gear for our kids, pool chairs and toys, and plenty of beach and shower towels for all.Ms. Peggy was a charming host and was responsive to our needs. (Take notice of the beautiful artwork and read books about the islands!) The kitchen had all the tools we needed to feed a large family. WiFi and two TVs worked well. A few issues we experienced: the stovetop was cracked across the top, and because cooking was important to us, we asked for a two-burner hot plate, which was provided within hours. The refrigerator had several broken shelves and the ice machine didn't work. Peggy brought us ice but we also bought ice throughout our stay to keep in the freezer. The outdoor garage washing machine leaks but washed our clothes well. The beds weren't the most comfortable, but we've stayed in other rental homes and find that's a typical experience. Overall, Peggy was a generous/ responsive host, full of a lifetime of family/island stories. The house was large and well appointed, even if it could use a few updates. Our big family had room to spread out and enjoy the absolutely breathtaking views. We would love to return!

I really enjoyed having Susie and her great family stay here. Just wanted to mention that the refrigerator has a new ice maker and shelves, and the stove has been replaced with a brand new one. The washer is still doing its job very well and I will put some good mats in the laundry room for guests’ comfort. I will get someone out to look at the washer. Governmental overreach in Honolulu makes it difficult to stay in business but I will always do my best to make certain that my guests are safe, comfortable and happy.

I've had family in the islands since the 1930's. We've scattered far and wide and many have passed on, but we always seem to return to our wahi punahele (favorite place) in paradise. I fell in love with Hawaii in 1949, when I arrived to visit my grandfather. Honolulu has changed a lot since then, but I love it still.

This place means the world to me. It's been in the family for nearly 50 years, Five generations of my family have known and loved this house. More than one of my cousins has honeymooned here. My parents' ashes were scattered at sea off the point. When they traveled off island, they never lacked for family members eager to house sit for them!

Five generations of my family have known and loved this home. More than one of my cousins has honeymooned here. (A good excuse for my parents to go on a trip!) My parents purchased this home when they retired in 1972. They loved it. Their ashes were scattered at sea in front of the house. They built the 'ohana unit in 1975 for me and my family to visit. My sons spent happy summers here with their indulgent grandfather. I can remember when Dad told me he'd bought this home. I was disappointed that it wasn't oceanfront. "Wait till you see it," he suggested. I now see what he meant. A much better view, especially for whale watching. The shores of Hawaii are owned by the people of Hawaii up to the "highest wash of the waves." So more privacy. No salt water in your living room during hurricanes.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

A relaxing, tranquil place. Caressed by trade winds, gilded by sunsets, and featuring the iconic volcanic crater, Diamond Head, to the west. One of the best whale watching spots on the island. I wake up in the morning, walk out and look around and thank the Lord for this beautiful blessing. That's the reason for the name "Hale Pomaika'i" (blessing house).
