Very special place for a large group

  • 5 of 5

Moosehead Lodge is a very special place that we highly recommend. We live in Interlochen and had more guests during the holidays than would fit in our home, so we rented this very spacious, comfortable home. Eleven of our family stayed in the home, and they loved the experience.

We originally planned to have all activities at our home which is next door, but we realized that Moosehead Lodge would be better for evening hang-out time for our large group because it provided several different spaces for conversations – in the living room where there’s a large stone fireplace, in the large and spacious kitchen which has an over-sized table, and in the upstairs family room with a TV. We had 11 family staying at Moosehead Lodge and then 15 more came from our house and local families’ homes for appetizers before dinner and games and conversation after dinner. It was amazing how well all 26 of us fit into the space.

Outstanding Lodge

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Moosehead for my son's wedding. It was a great place to have as a home base while in the area for the wedding. Everything that you could ask for was available either at the lodge or in the area. Several of my family members stayed with me at the lodge. The location was very convenient for all of the wedding functions and close to local sightseeing. I will come back again.

Phenomenal Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Moosehead Lodge was phenomenal for our stay. We had four family groups there -- each one having their own bedroom and plenty of living space for the non-sleeping time. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the lake -- even though temps were a bit cool -- they still braved the water and loved it. The swings and teeter totter we a huge life saver for the kids to play and we had a fire almost every night we were there -- starting first in the fire pit outside and then moving into the fireplace inside. The home is very well equipped/furnished and we could not have found a better place to be for our group of 12 ppl for one week leading up to our daughter's wedding. Thank you very, very much!

Well Stocked Home! Great Memories Made!

  • 4 of 5

Had a wonderful time at the Moosehead Lodge! It's one of the best stocked kitchens we have ever had in a rental home. There were 15 of us from 18 to 78, and it was nice that everyone had a bed to sleep in and there were pots large enough to cook for 15. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to cook or bake. Normally with this big of a group, someone is sleeping on the floor or some uncomfortable pull out couch. The yard was a nice size for a game of whiffle ball and corn hole. The fire pit near the lake was very nice as well. The house was very clean although we could have used a few more bath towels, I think there were only 9 towels for 15 of us and kitchen towels there was only 1 so we bought 3 at the store. My sister bought bath towels, so it wasn't a big deal. My family loves the water and we always rent on a lake or river. It was very soothing that the out-take dam to Duck Lake is on the property and it's like having a waterfall in your yard. The lake itself is very shallow and on Friday after spending the majority of the day in the lake, a few of us contracted swimmers' itch. After showering and using Cortizone 10, the itching went away, but it put a damper on the rest of the weekend not wanting to go in the lake which was disappointing. Normally associations spray in June and you don't see swimmers' itch in August, but with the extreme shallow water, spraying must have not been enough. Overall the weekend was filled with great memories and great times! Thanks for letting us stay!

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

Pictures just don't do this property justice. I knew it was going to be a nice place to stay, but it exceeded my expectations in every possible way. Taking the kayaks and canoe up the stream to Mud Lake couldn't have been more relaxing, like taking a trip to your own nature sanctuary. The privacy that you get at the house is perfect. Feels like you're in your own little world, yet you're only minutes from town with grocery stores, gas stations, etc. The house itself was clean, beautiful, and everything you could hope for in a rental.

I can't wait to visit this cottage again, but next time it's going to be for a week instead of just a weekend!

Family event at Moosehead Lodge

  • 4 of 5

This is a choice getaway spot that was perfect place to relaxin our own on the peaceful Duck Lake. The fully equipped kitchen allowed is to entertain family and friends as they arrived for my sons wedding. We had room enough for out of town family to stay with us. Even the bride to be and a bridesmaid stayed with us while my son and his buddies were at their own bachelor party.

I loved the heron by the dam and the sounds of the babbling brook and also the kayaks there for us to use.

My 100 year old mother was very comfortable here and the only comment I could recommend is to build a movable ramp for the inside steps in the garage to accommodate a wheelchair.

This home has character, charm and although it is hidden away, it is extremely convenient to a grocery store, Interlochen Camp as well as Wonderful Traverse City. I have already recommended this lovely place for a friend and his family.
