Cottage · Private Lake + Dock · Walk to Town

Photo gallery for Cottage · Private Lake + Dock · Walk to Town

Your morning ritual just got an upgrade — coffee in hand on the private dock as mist rises off the lake and the mountains wake up around you. This is the moment you'll keep coming back for.
Watch your private lake transform at dusk — all rose and gold as the sun drops behind the ridgeline. Pull up a chair and let the evening come to you.
Your outdoor living room: a full deck with cushioned sofa, surrounded by 3 acres of private mountain property and the sounds of the lake just steps away.
Your view from inside: walls of windows and skylights pour mountain light through the cottage all day, framing the lake like a painting you can walk right up to.
Your people, your fire, your water — Camp Cattail is where the best conversations of this trip will happen. You'll be talking about this one for years.

Imagine waking up in a charming mountain cottage where history meets modern comfort, just steps away from the best of Cashiers village. Nestled in the scenic landscape of the western NC Carolina mountains, Cattail Cottage offers a private retreat for those looking to recharge and reconnect with nature.

This unique 3+ acre property sleeps up to four guests and has its own private lake that provides a peaceful experience of our mountain environment. Terrific for watching birds, turtles, an otter, and other wildlife.

COTTAGE HISTORY:

Cattail Cottage was built in 1937 on land that was once home to the Cherokee. Talmadge Seldon and Maude Lance started a lumber mill in 1932 and began "half-round log siding" construction and began selling lots in a subdivision they named, Lancewood. While fully renovated, Cattail Cottage maintains some of its original charm with the D-log siding and original sweet gum flooring.

OUTDOOR AMENITIES:

- Exclusive dock
- Provided fishing kayak
- Fire pit
- Coffee bar with Keurig, drip coffee maker, French Press, starter pods, teas, sugar to get your day started.
- Patio

- We are dog friendly for up to one house-broken and well-behaved dog that is two years or older and 50-lb or less. Please disclose age and breed of dog and add non-refundable fee of $125/dog when booking; see additional requirements below under House Rules).

LOCATION:

(.4) We are an easy walk to the "crossroads of Cashiers," which is the intersection of Hwy 107 and Hwy 64.

(.2) Cashiers Ramble - a walking path that rambles around many favorite locations such as the Farmer's Market, Buck's Coffee Cafe, Whiteside Brewing, Slabtown Pizza, the Village Green (which includes a playground, elevated boardwalk, memorial gardens, and summer concerts) as well as other shops and restaurants.

(.7) Grocery Shopping - there is a convenient Ingle's shopping center among other shops and restaurants less than a mile away.

Great location, updated, clean and welcoming stay. We even caught (and released) two bass from the dock. Highly recommend this property for a visit to the cashiers /highlands area.

Cozy Cottage

We loved our stay at Cattail Cottage. It was cozy, comfortable and close to the shops in Cashiers. There were several outdoor spaces to enjoy. The kitchen has a great coffee/tea bar and it was stocked with samples for your visit. The owner also left a snack basket that we throughly enjoyed. Checkout was a breeze!

Our family has frequented "cottages" for several decades and I have learned to pack all kinds of extras from home to make our stay more comfortable-that said-Cattail Cottage exceeded every expectation for hospitality! Both mattresses passed my "princess and the pea" test. I didn't need my Lysol spray or wipes, it was perfectly clean and no smells at all! And there was ample paper towels, toilet paper and even Kleenex! There was numerous ways to get our morning coffee or tea with lots of samples of each from which to select. :) We loved sitting at the dock at sunset and watching the ducks and the Ramblers Trail made walking to dinner options as easy as pie. Nice short drive to Gorges and plenty of trails to enjoy! Looking forward to returning. Thank you again Timothy for our comfortable stay, Cattail Cottage is a stunner!
