The fully-equipped kitchen is large with peninsula seating, and includes a five burner gas stove with griddle. About Owner / Property Manager
My wife and I relocated to the Yucatan in 2010 from San Francisco, CA. We purchased a 200 year old Spanish colonial home in the historic central district of Merida. While out exploring the peninsula's Mayan ruins, cenotes, and beautiful Caribbean waters for snorkeling we came upon the wonderful and lovely seaside town of Puerto Morelos. We fell in love immediately and bought a 2nd home. After several months of updating and renovations we are ready to invite vacationers to come discover the beauty, tranquility, and adventure of an authentic Mexican experience in this charming fishing village.
Owner / Property Manager purchased this House in 2012
Why Owner / Property Manager chose Puerto Morelos
When searching for our vacation home on the Mayan Riviera, we considered both what we wanted in the location, as well as what we did not want. Of course we needed walking access to the beautiful blue Caribbean water. We also wanted easy access to the Cancun Airport to make it an easy trip for visitors. We wanted an authentic Mexican experience, where you know you're in Mexico, and not surrounded by predictable glass and steel high-rise resorts that could be on a beach anywhere. We wanted a small location with the colorful and interesting experience of having locals as neighbors. Where we could easily walk to cool cafes, restaurants, diving and snorkeling, and local Mayan markets.
What makes this House unique
We found all that and more in Puerto Morelos. A seaside fishing village perched between a stunning reef-protected beach and mangrove jungle, both beautiful features that prevent excessive growth of the town. Yet it's just a 25 minute drive to the Cancun international airport. So with privacy as a main objective, we chose a recently built two story house a block and a half off the beach, and just two blocks to the shops and restaurants around the main square. Close enough to stroll easily to either, yet set just far enough away for privacy. Then to enhance the experience, we built up the top of the house, adding a rooftop observation deck with our own large terrace and pool for complete privacy and a 360 degree view that includes the ocean reef, the lighthouse, the coco palm treetops and the mangrove jungle. Inside, we have upgraded the decor, kitchen, WiFi, music systems, etc. to provide modern luxuries. We are proud of what we have accomplished. We love our time here and invite you to enjoy it as well.

Russ has a perfect vacation home located within walking of everything Puerto Morelos has
We enjoyed the atmosphere of their home during a 10 day stay. We did choose to rent a car on two separate occasions and they have a locked patio area the car fit in well. Having our own pool on the top was great and there were some times where we would use it but being so close to everything in Puerto Morelos and having a car to explore the more reasonably priced cenotes and Playa,Isa,Tulum keep us busy. There are two bikes available and we used them every morning. Upside was dining, town, cenotes, home, people. snorkeling off shore and at reef. The Seaweed as a major downside as since January according to locals it has been on the beaches. My wife and both Kids came home with rashes which we are still trying to get rid of.
We will return again but will check seaweed situation first when planning. GREAT HOME. Thanks for allowing us to stay. PS. taxis and bus system is easy and there is very little waiting on buses at the grocery store or bigger cities. Also having a beer store across from house was fun and helpful. August is slow season and town wasn't overcrowded at all.
Perfect in every way
From our very first email with Russ (the owner), right through to the end of our stay, everything was above and beyond our expectations. We’re a couple in our early 30s who travel frequently but had not previously rented a home in Mexico. Russ’s prompt attention and detailed, informative emails erased any anxiety we had about the rental process. We met his colleague Lucio at the arranged time and were welcomed into a beautiful, well maintained home that is ideally located directly in the Village section of Puerto Morelos and a less than 5 minute stroll from the Beach. The home is decorated with classic Mexican touches and comfortable modern furnishings. The downstairs living area is perfect for entertaining with easy access to the backyard patio complete with a large weber coal burning grill. The mini-split units in each room provide fast effecient cooling during the midday heat, but the position of the house and multiple ceiling fans make the AC mostly unnecessary at night. Super easy access to the super markets on the highway (25 peso cab ride!). When our stay was over we were sad to leave, but Lucio was right in time, helped us pack up and then even called us a cab so we didn’t have to walk down to the taxi stand on the square. Five stars is not enough. We will definitely be back.
Roomy house in a great town!
We recently stayed in this home for 12 days and had a wonderful time. The house is nestled into a residential area and there are many restaurants nearby (everything is within walking distance, including the beach). There was more than enough room for the whole family to spread out and relax. The weather in July/ August was extremely hot and humid, and the rooftop area was breezy and relaxing for days we wanted to get a little less sun but still be outside. The house was equipped with everything we needed and beautifully decorated. The house manager was friendly and responsive as well. We hope to return someday!
Relaxing and Refreshing
We stayed just 3 nights, but it was wonderful. We were close to the beach and restaurants. We took a shuttle to and from the airport with Canada Transfers, and just walked wherever we needed to go. We really spent most of our time on the rooftop deck relaxing in the shade and just enjoying some downtime. The internet worked great, the rooms were very comfortable - the beds especially. And the showers were very nice. There were just two of us in this house, but it will definitely fit more people very comfortably. We even enjoyed the rooster!
We will definitely be going back to stay in this wonderful home!
Lovely house , fantastic location
It was so easy to book this house, communication was great. It had everything we wanted- 3 comfotable bedrooms, excellent bathrooms and a kitchen that was well equipped. The only reason I give it 4 rather than 5 is that it could do with a little TLC. Rooftop terrace was fabulous but I would put a few plants up there to hide the AC units. The cupboards need some attention too- one handle came off. These things are minor and don’t detract from the overall beauty of the house. Also fantastic restaurants within a few minutes walk
Very nice house
Well provisioned house and in a good location in terms of the beach and restaurants
John Gray restaurant excellent (just a minute walk up the street)
The owner was very easy to communicate with extremely responsive
If you are a light sleeper the noise from the roosters next door can be alleviated by running a few fans at night (many fans throughout the house-- if outside lower back patio late afternoon where it can be quite hot you can run a fan as well)
The rooftop bar and plunge pool were well used--- we bought from the juice guy across the street a fresh bottle of lime juice and used it with fruit, OJ and rum to make smoothies in the magic bullet blender for afternoon cocktails
