Alpine Meadows Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, deck, 5 Bedrooms + Loft, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 15)

Winter and Summer.....Escape from it all in this large 5 bedroom, 4 bath cabin in the pristine and exclusive Bear Creek neighborhood, located one mile mile below Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. The home's modern lay-out boasts two stories of glass windows with views of the slopes in the winter and of our private swimming pond in the summer. Surrounded by open meadows and solitude yet close to everything, this cabin is a reunion/retreat destination like no other. Our home is surrounded by 3 open lots that can never be built on! It feels like you went camping and brought a 5-BR house with you!

Our game cupboard contains tons of puzzles and games, and our large sunken living-room and open-hearth fire place allow for families and friends to gather effortlessly.

In the winter, beat traffic with a one minute drive to the slopes, or cross country ski and make snowmen in the untouched snow off the back deck. If you dare, adventure one mile down the road to our local 'E' ticket sledding hill. Cold temps but low snow year? No problem. Bear Creek's pond transforms into a private old-fashioned skating pond. Bring some skates, ear-muffs, and your hockey stick and enjoy skating with no driving, nor admission price!

In summer, stroll out on to the deck and find yourself steps away from our private swimming pond with its' own sandy beach, Huck-Finn style rafts, and 'rock islands' to sunbathe on. You may never want to leave, but if you do the famous Five-Lakes trail-head is across the street, as are some of Tahoe's famous mountain bike trails. Two miles down the road find fine-dining at the River Ranch, Tahoe's best horseback riding stables, rafting on the Truckee River, and the world's most beautiful bike path- which runs along the Truckee River for 12 miles and leads you to beautiful Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City.

Winter or Summer, this cabin gives you access to the best that Tahoe has to offer. It is the perfect cabin for a single-family retreat or a large group get-away. The lay-out of our home allows for private and communal activities to happen at the same time. You can play hard, or relax, connect or disconnect, your choice.

Whether you are looking for adventure or solitude this house has it all.

Beautiful Alpine Meadows Cabin

  • 5 of 5

I'd highly recommend this cabin. We stayed here with a group of couples in our late twenties/early thirties and had a great time. We stayed during March for a ski trip and you can't beat the location. It's almost walking distance to Alpine Meadows, but we opted to drive the ~3 minute drive to the slopes. The cabin itself is great. The views out of the back window are gorgeous and there's a little creek out there too. It has a great mountain cabin vibe. Gretchen was an excellent communicator throughout the entire process and really nice to deal with. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking for a big group. Overall, you can tell this place is cared for and has a lot of great memories.

What else could you want in a mountain retreat – summer or winter?

  • 5 of 5

The Good:

As I sit here thinking about what to say, I actually lament not writing a review earlier than this, because I could have years ago and we have received so much joy from staying here. We have come here with family and friends during summer and winter, which I highly recommend because of the different types of natural beauty that are all around and so visible through the huge glass wall that is the main view from inside the house. Being nature, adventure, adrenaline, and serenity lovers, this place is a perfect base camp for all of the above. We do all the hiking, biking, rafting, horse back riding, swimming, skiing, and boarding we want right from the door of the cabin or a short drive away. At the end of the day, the back deck in the summer or the living room next to a nice fire in the winter is the best place to kick back and relax. The neighborhood is so quiet and peaceful and the streets around are perfect for walking dogs. All the bedrooms are great, but two have their own view of the mountain. Four bathrooms is so nice with multiple families and the kitchen is fully equipped with all you need. The last thing I will say is how amazing it is to have the private pond right there next to the house. Summer gets hot and there's nothing better than a refreshing dip in perfect water after a good hike or bike ride.

The Not So Good:

Grocery stores are not that close, but that just takes some planning...and now that I think of it, the remoteness is also what helps to make it so peaceful. Tahoe City and Lake Tahoe are only about 10 minutes away in Summer.

Cabin rented Dec 26, 2014 - Jan 3, 2015

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is super equipped: Specially kids room with big screen and Netflix and the kitchen. We arrived in a well heated and perfectly clean cabin with all beds made and bathroom with towels soap, everything! Fire place works great! and plenty of wood available. Instructions to use the cabin are very clear, straightforward and practical! Best location in Lake Tahoe between Alpine Meadows and Squaw valley, we beat the traffic every morning easily.

Owner are very accommodating and helpful.

We were 15 to celebrate New Year and we had a great time!

Decent property, but the house was not cleaned when we arrived...

  • 2 of 5

While dated, the house was big and generally comfortable, with open living space and a large window overlooking the deck and backyard. It was great to be able to let kids out to play in the snow while the adults watch them from inside. There was plenty of room for everyone to lounge and relax comfortably. Conveniently located, it was literally a few minutes drive from the slopes at Alpine Meadows.

The house was not ready we showed up -- it was not cleaned at all from the last tenants. The owner got the date mixed up. One housekeeper showed up over an hour later and spent the next three hours getting the house ready, while we made dinner for the kids to get them ready for bed. The housekeeper was not able to finish one of the rooms and laundry, but promised to come back the next day to finish everything. The next day, after a day of skiing, we came back to the house, again, to find that the housekeeper had not come back to finish her work. She did show up eventually to finish the work, but for the first two evenings of our stay, we basically had to be in the house while the house was being cleaned by the housekeeper.

I asked the owner to waive the cleaning fee for our inconvenience and she agreed. However, she later told me that the house ended up taking longer to clean than the the original cleaning fee would cover, so she deducted $10 from my cleaning fee refund. Bad form in my book.

The overall communication with the owner was subpar; the owner was not proactive in keeping me updated on the status of my reservation. For example, I had to follow up and see if our check was received/ reservation confirmed and I also had to remind her to send me house instructions a few days before our check-in date. Each time I had to initiate the check-in, I also had to remind her to send me the refund and deposit after our stay. She could have been more proactive in her communication.
