Welcome to the Breezy Porch Apartment, your cozy haven at the end of Storybook Barn located on 5 acres, just a half-mile from the historic Old Wide Wake Plantation. This one-bedroom romantic retreat is perfect for a peaceful getaway with modern comforts and charming touches.

Nestled in a serene rural setting, only 25 minutes from downtown Charleston, Folly and Edisto beaches. Explore historic sites, enjoy coastal adventures, or simply unwind. Well mannered dogs stay free!!

Your Private Retreat- Experience relaxed luxury inside, complete with:

Sleeping Arrangements: A queen-size bed in the bedroom, a double-size sofa bed in the living room, and a comfy twin-size sleeper chair. Linens and pillows are in cabinet under TV.

Kitchenette: Equipped with a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, 2 burner hot plate, drip coffee maker, Keurig, French press, and electric kettle. You’ll find all the necessary utensils, cups, plates, plus a welcome gift of coffee, tea, non-dairy creamer, and sugar.

Bathroom: A full walk-in shower with soap, shampoo, and a hairdryer for that spa-like touch.

Linens & Towels: Fresh and ready for your stay.

Outdoor Comfort Enjoy the expansive wrap-around porch for dining or lounging, complete with:
A dining table and comfy seating area
A propane fire pit for cooler evenings
An extra-large porch fan to keep things breezy
Propane grill

Entertainment & Connectivity Stay entertained and connected with Wi-Fi, a smart TV, and phone charging stations by the bed and desk. If you’re in the mood for local food, Uber Eats and DoorDash deliver to our location.

Pet-Friendly Getaway- We welcome dogs, so your furry friend can join in on the fun as long as they’re kept under your supervision. Must be on leash when outside.

Keypad Entry: For secure, seamless access anytime after 3:00 PM.

Owners On-Site: Available if you need assistance, but we respect your privacy for a peaceful stay.

Check-Out: By 10:00 AM, allowing a leisurely morning before departure.

Unregistered guest or "an extra person you forgot to mention" will result in a $250.00 fine.

Do NOT chase the chickens please. They like grapes and will eat directly from your hand.

Linens/Towels: Feel free to use anything provided. Leave used towels on the bathroom floor An extra blanket is on the shelf in the bathroom. Linen for the couch and chair are under the TV stand
Load the dishwasher. A clean sponge and dish soap are under the sink. Dishwasher soap is also under the sink. Use the trash can inside.
Please do not leave food or trash outside, it attracts wildlife and can be harmful to the animals. Please close all windows and doors when you leave.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

This was a great place to stay! Thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The farm is a lovely place to spend time and is not very far from Charleston or from the beaches. Turned out to be a perfect location! Hosts are fabulous! I would definitely Reserve this place again.

Hosts were incredibly accommodating and helpful but were invisible until needed. Words and pictures don’t do this property justice. It is a true gem. Highly recommend. Mom wants to rent it out for the entire summer next year!

story began in Charleston in 1989, when Joe, stationed in the Navy, crossed paths with Tamara, a North Carolina native who had recently made Charleston her home. Their first date set the tone for their shared love of the area—dinner at California Dreaming and a peaceful walk on Folly Beach.

Life took them on adventures to Florence, SC, and San Diego, CA, thanks to job opportunities, but Charleston always called them back. After retiring in 2023, they returned to the Lowcountry, where they found the perfect 5-acre site with a polo pony barn. Now, they’re lovingly restoring the property, transforming it into a small farm and a collection of cozy short-term rental spots, eager to invite others to experience the charm and beauty of Charleston they’ve cherished for so long.

Here at Storybook Barn, we believe in slowing down and savoring the little things: birdsong in the morning, the feeling of a soft breeze, the rustle of deer through the woods. This space began as a former polo barn, and today it’s transforming into a sanctuary where people and animals can find peace, comfort, and connection.
