Christine Fiszer purchased this apartment in 2011
From 25 years I live with a view on the Luxembourg park, before on a another side and recently on this side. I could'nt live elsewhere in Paris.
The oustanding location, the parisian charm and reffined elegance of the appartment, the comfort and the very fitted kitchen.
Wow! What a great location. We would recommend taking the train from CDG Airport, as it drops you off right in front of the Luxembourg Garden. Walk thru the garden to the opposite side and turn right to the apartment's address. This apartment has beautiful windows galore so, despite its dark interior, it is very bright with nice breezes. We left the windows open at night so it was comfortable sleeping. My wife and I wanted to experience the feeling of Paris; this location affords all of that. Close to everything!
We recommend the La Rotonde Cafe, located only a few blocks from the apartment. Amazing food and the perfect vantage point to people watch (Try the Sea Bass.., It is incredible!!). The markets, restaurants, etc. are in easy walking distance. We walked to the Eiffel Tower and back (to work off the calories). Christine, our host, was pretty accomodating and responded to any request (just had to call her once with a minor plumbing problem and another time on a request for a fan...the last two days of our nine-day stay had record temperatures for Paris...unfortunately, she did not have a fan so that was somewhat disappointing and very uncomfortable for sleeping). The 3 flights of stairs were a little burdensome, but there were too many positives that far outweighed this inconvenience (burns a lot of calories!). On one of our last days in Paris, we ran into Christine and she was kind enough to point out Saint Sulpice (just a block or so from where we were walking), where she recommended a nice cafe. There was also a flea market, where I purchased a beautiful 50th wedding anniversary diamond ring from a very nice jeweler. We had the stones reset and the ring polished, upon our return to the states. It was from the 30's. My wife loves it and gets lots of comments. She enjoys telling admirers that she bought it in Paris. Very impressive!!
Finally, in addition to eating at great cafes, we wanted to shop at the markets and do our own cooking. Christine's kitchen is fully stocked and has the latest and greatest appliances...We would recommend this apartment. Merci Beaucoup Christine!!
Far from the crowds and right across the street from Luxembourg Gardens, this is the real Paris. We found the view into the courtyard gardens particularly pleasant on sunny afternoons when the western sun was flooding the kitchen with warm light. Shopping is easy with local markets and other shops within a 2 block radius. Two Metro stops in easy walking distance.
The interior is very nicely appointed with comfortable seating and a kitchen well supplied for cooking in. This is the place to stay for several days when you don't want to be on the go 12 hours a day and don't want to find restaurants for all your meals. It felt like home.
An utterly delightful apartment in a part of Paris close to the centre but largely untouched by tourists. The space is book-filled and larger if anything than the photos suggest, a real joy to stay in. Easy arrangements for access. Try the nearby St Germaine market - expensive but amazing!
We had a fabulous time in this apartment. We wanted to stay in a historic building ( steep staircase, tall ceilings, wood beams) and to be within the walking distance from Notre Dame. Christine was prompt in her communication from the very beginning. She also met us when we arrived and explained all the details of our stay. She provided her cell phone number to use in case of emergency.
As you are planning your stay , you have to keep in mind that she lives in this apartment. So, yes, she keeps her personal belongings there. We ( three adults) had a plenty of room for all our stuff.
We would definitely stay in this apartment again and recommend it for others.
Thank you, Christine!
My enjoyment of this beautiful apartment in an excellent Paris location was marred by the fact that we were given very little space for our clothes and our toiletries - this space was chock block full with the owner's personal items which was uncomfortable for us. Too bad. With a little more consideration of guest/travelers need for their own space when they are spending a week or more in an apartment, this experience could have been perfect.
My wife and I absolutely love this apartment. From time to time I toy with the idea of buying an apartment in Paris and if I ever do, I would look for one just like this. Over the past decade we have stayed in many apartments on both banks of the Seine, but this has become our favorite. The location is perfect and the apartment is quite spacious by Parisian standards, clean, quiet, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. Coming back to Christine's apartment after a long day of sightseeing and shopping to rest and recuperate feels just like coming home.
Within easy walking distance one can find many fine restaurants, shopping and a plethora of tourist attractions. The grocer just across the street is a favorite of mine. Within no more than 20 square feet, he has one or two of ever thing, and I find the owner to be incredibly friendly. There is also a larger grocery within 2 blocks and if that doesn't have everything you need, the Grande Épicerie is a 10 to 15 min walk. The Amarino Gelato just around the corner is my wife's favorite place. My two favorite men's clothing boutiques are within a 20 min walk.
In response to the previous reviewer, we found the supply of towels, linens, dishes, silverware, etc. to be more than adequate for 2 people for 10 days. It's an apartment and somebody's home not a hotel. There's a washer / dryer, but no maid service. As for the sticky front door lock, I found a can of WD-40 in the closet, gave the lock a quick spray and it worked smoothly and effortlessly for the rest of our stay.
We will definitely be staying in this apartment again.
A splendid park, with a XVII castle, visible from the windows. All the cultural activities, famous restaurants, luxe shopping, museums and monuments around. So special Saint-Germain des prés and Montparnasse atmosphere.
o Hotel de Cluny.
o Musée d'Orsay.
o Musée Branly.
o La Conciergerie, where Marie-Antoinette was imprisoned.
o La Sorbonne, the oldest university in Europe.
o La Sainte-Chapelle built under Saint Louis from 1241 to 1248.
o Le Musée du Luxembourg.
The 6th arrondissement is arguably the most Parisian district in Paris. It's centrally located, with easy access to Versailles, Fontainebleau, Giverny and the Monet Garden, the airport, train stations, with myriads of cafés, shops, bookstores, museums, galleries, restaurants, clubs, wine stores, antique shops, supermarkets, etc...Walk to SAINT GERMAIN and everywhere in Paris from this ideal central location and relax in a quiet haven!
A large choice of shops, famous restaurants (e.g. La Closerie des Lilas), cafes (Brasserie Lipp, Le Flore, Les Deux Magots, etc...), and cinemas, as well as basic services such as open markets (in Rue de Buci and Boulevard Raspail), supermarkets, wine shops, bakeries, cybercafés, are found all around this accommodation. This area is also known for its book shops, antique shops, and designer clothes shops.
