Beautiful, interesting apartment just steps from the wonderful Luxembourg Gardens. Wonderful neighborhood, and extremely convenient to nearly everything in Paris by walking or public transportation. Those with limited mobility should be aware that it requires walking up three flights of fairly steep steps, but a small price to pay for a lovely apartment.
Thank you, dear John, for this wam review. I was delighted to welcome you two. Come back when you want, you, relatives or friends of you.
Have a nice spring.
Christine met us upon our arrival from CDG. What a treat to stay in her charming apartment for our first trip to Paris. Very French!
Many thanks dear Mora. I am so happy you felt well here for your first stay in Paris.
A Parisian Gem
My wife and I have just returned from our 3 week stay in Christine's apartment in September. We are regular visitors and have stayed in 3 different Parisian apartments over the past 10 years. Christine's apartment is now our first choice. I fully endorse the positive comments of earlier visitors. The apartment's location next to the Luxembourg gardens is an outstanding feature . This enabled us to enjoy the many charms of the gardens as well as the opportunity to mingle with Parisians whilst we relaxed and sought a respite from the vibrant milieu of parisian life.
The apartment is a delightful combination of salon style and modern functionalism. Kitchen and bathroom have been updated to contemporary standards and fully satisfied our needs. The kitchen is a delight to cook in . It has all the appliances and cooking paraphernalia of an American kitchen.. So when you tire of bistro cooking you can stay home and practice your culinary skills. The apartment is surprisingly quiet being in the center of the 6th arrondissement. You have easy walking access to the heart of parisian life.
The bedroom has a comfortable mattress and an adjacent bathroom with an excellent shower. Since this is Christine's apartment , you will find that her elegant furnishings and extraordinary library give the apartment a salon cachet which is in keeping with its Parisian location.
The apartment is in an older building on the third floor. There is no elevator but this provides the opportunity for daily exercise which with the metro stairs will guarantee that you will not put on any weight even with regular bistro dining.. My wife and I had no difficulty dealing with the stairs during our stay [we are seniors] but those with disabilities would find the stairs a challenge.
The building has a concierge who is friendly and helpful. You do not need a vehicle to enjoy your stay in Paris. The Navigo pass and the 2 metro stations nearby provide easy access to the whole city. As well, if travelling from CDG by the RER train you are only a short walk from the Luxembourg RER station to the apartment.
To sum up, the apartment is tasteful, elegant and very functional.
Many thanks, dear William, for your warm review. You are always welcome rue d'assas.
A Great Stay in our favorite Paris Apartment
My wife and I have stayed in many apartments in various areas of Paris, but since we discovered this particular apartment 4 to 5 years ago, we have not stayed anywhere else. This was our 5th stay and we have already made reservations for next year.
Within easy walking distance, you can find great eating, great shopping and great sights.
However, keep in mind that this someone's private residence. It is in a typical Parisian apartment building, in a typical Parisian residential neighborhood. So, if you're wanting a hotel room, with hotel service and amenities, you should look elsewhere. But if you want to experience a slice of authentic Parisian life, with boulangeries, épiceries, corner bistros, Cafés, croissants, and wonderful restaurants, I would heartedly recommend this location.
Many thanks for your review, dear hosts, and I am delighted to welcome you a year on year as distant friends.
I wait for you next september.
Have a nice year.
Great location, welcoming host.
Location the best. Views of courtyard and garden nearby exceptional. Ease of use for all things, after an adjustment of door lock, perfect. Want to stay there again.
Many thanks! ...I just wonder what it must be to get from you 5 stars....
A charming stay in Paris
This book-lined apartment practically overlooking the Luxembourg gardens on one side and an inner walled garden on the other offers one of the most charming and tranquil stays one could imagine in one of the liveliest and culturally richest areas in Paris : right next to many of the city's best publishing houses, antique book sellers, theaters of stage and screen, also bustling food markets, animated cafes, renowned restaurants, all framed by glorious 18th- and 19th-century architecture - and paradoxically, off the beaten tourist path.
The apartment crammed with books and art is suffused with Old World mid-19th-century atmosphere, from the three storeys to climb around a winding staircase (at least until a promised elevator is installed) to the fine old wooden roof-beams and the different levels of flooring between one room and the next (beware tripping in the dark) : but spacious, luminous and airy, the kitchen small but opening unto the combination dining- and drawing- room perfect for entertaining, and well-provided with most modern amenities including a good cooking stove, large refrigerator and efficient dishwasher (but adding a convenient little microwave machine would be recommended). The apartment further enjoys excellent Wi-Fi access and offers altogether a perfect place to relax after strenuous sightseeing, or to write and work in comfort knowing that all the stimulation of Paris life lies just down the stairs, across the street, around the corner.
Je vous remercie cher Michael pour ce rapport détaillé et chaleureux. Le porte-cartes et l'agenda de Jacqueline voyagent vers vous.
A splendid park, with a XVII castle, visible from the windows. All the cultural activities, famous restaurants, luxe shopping, museums and monuments around. So special Saint-Germain des prés and Montparnasse atmosphere. Sites o Saint-Sulpice. o Notre-Dame. o Saint-Germain-des-Prés. o Hotel de Cluny. o Musée d'Orsay. o Musée Branly. o La Conciergerie, where Marie-Antoinette was imprisoned. o La Sorbonne, the oldest university in Europe. o La Sainte-Chapelle built under Saint Louis from 1241 to 1248. o Le Musée du Luxembourg. The 6th arrondissement is arguably the most Parisian district in Paris. It's centrally located, with easy access to Versailles, Fontainebleau, Giverny and the Monet Garden, the airport, train stations, with myriads of cafés, shops, bookstores, museums, galleries, restaurants, clubs, wine stores, antique shops, supermarkets, etc...Walk to SAINT GERMAIN and everywhere in Paris from this ideal central location and relax in a quiet haven! A large choice of shops, famous restaurants (e.g. La Closerie des Lilas), cafes (Brasserie Lipp, Le Flore, Les Deux Magots, etc...), and cinemas, as well as basic services such as open markets (in Rue de Buci and Boulevard Raspail), supermarkets, wine shops, bakeries, cybercafés, are found all around this accommodation. This area is also known for its book shops, antique shops, and designer clothes shops.
