Real Hawaiian Experience
Would go again, stayed 11 days in studio with kitchen + nice screened in patio. This like a traditional, simple Hawaiian cottage in a nice, quiet neighborhood. "A REAL HAWAII EXPERIENCE" On north shore of Maui convenient to Paia, Hikui road to Hana, famous Jaws surf spot etc.,try Coleen's Mama's Fish House both excellent(Mama's expensive check 1st)
Great owner & good value.Hope to return soon.
Exactly what I was looking for
John was very friendly and welcoming on arrival. The description and house are exactly like the listing, no surprises. We had a great, relaxing couple of days in nature before meeting up with a large group at a resort. Perfect hub some Road to Hana adventures.
Relaxing and Beautiful Scenery
We can’t wait to come back and stay here again. The cottage was very clean and touches like high quality linens and beach towels made our stay more enjoyable. The view is beautiful and the surroundings are quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas on Maui.
Evergreen Cottage: It was like sleeping outside with nature but indoors.
It was a very unique "cottage" feel. Both my husband and I enjoyed the hospitality and the warmth of the islands staying at John's Evergreen Cottage. It has a clean and comfortable bed. It has a full-size refrigerator. It has a cute, small and functional gas stove. It is equipped with the necessary sink, cookware, dinnerware, etc. The place was clean and comfortable. We are going to recommend it to our friends and family.
Lots of geckos, roches and spiders
This place is full of geckos. Everyday we have to deal with couple. Also we experienced some big roches. My 14year old daughter was always freaked out with those geckos. I was not able to sleep properly and always used to check the ceiling and under the bed. My 1 year baby got really sick from those geckos and her peditration thinks that she got some stomach bacterial infection from geckos' wastes. The cottage doesn't have any privacy. You can be clearly seen from all directions through the windows. The other room has only screens with no glass or curtains. It was rainy and windy when we were there and had to move the couches inside the kitchen place to avoid getting wet and to avoid the cold wind. Also you can see gabs in the gottage walls that is an easy accesss for all kinds of bugs, insects and those geckos.
John, the owner, was really very nice and we like him. But I don't recommend the place for anyone with kids. It's been 3 weeks trying to get my 1 year old baby back to her normal.
Quiet, clean and beautiful view near haiku
We had an amazing stay at this place. We used it as our hub to visit the crater, hana road, the north shore and the kihei shore. Everything was within a short drive. The indoor patio was the most amazing place to wake up with a coffee while enjoying the view of the nature and partial ocean view. The place was clean and had all the features one would expect. I would stay there again without a doubt.
Situated just enough distance from the traffic, towns and other populated areas of the Island though very convenient for driving.
Pleasant for walks in the neighborhood.
Public Buses operate hourly from Haiku Community Center [3 miles/5 kilometers from Guest House] and travel downtown; you may use a bicycle to get to and from the bus stop [buses are equipped w/racks to transport bicycles].
