Welcome to Haleakala Cottage at Huelo Point Lookout, your ideal starting point for a Hawaiian adventure, especially if you're planning to explore the iconic Road to Hana. Our cozy cottage on Maui's unspoiled north shore is surrounded by lush gardens and organic orchards, providing the ultimate relaxation and tranquility.

Enjoy unwinding in your private hot tub under the stars or retreat to our luxurious California King bed after exploring nearby bamboo forests, waterfalls, and pristine beaches. Cook up delicious meals in our fully equipped kitchen and outdoor charcoal grill using fresh produce from our orchards.

As part of the Huelo Point Lookout property, we offer four private accommodations, each featuring its own hot tub, set amid tropical gardens. You can take a refreshing dip in our 44-foot free-form swimming pool or head to nearby Pa'ia for shopping and dining.

The perfect oasis

This property was so breathtakingly beautiful and secluded. My husband and I stayed here together and the privacy of the cottage allowed for such a romantic get away. The hosts were so amazing and so kind they truly made us feel so welcomed and special. We really hope to come stay at this incredible place again in the future.

Peaceful, pretty, a restful place to stay

The property is set a bit away from any of the nearby towns, which is a nice thing. Very nice to wake up hearing birds and other animals welcoming the day. Very well positioned for the Road to Hana, but also convenient to Paia. Very comfortable visit, we enjoyed our time here very much.

Great adventure base!

Sharyn was a great host and really excels at making her guests feel welcome. From the fresh bread and eggs to the complimentary bottle of rose for our honeymoon - all of these special touches made our stay superb! We would definitely stay again :)

My partner and I recently stayed at Haleakalā Cottage for 3 very comfortable nights. We loved the seclusion of the property and the thoughtful touches, such as fresh eggs, bread, coffee, the list could go on. Easy parking space. Make sure you catch the sunrise on the cliff! You won’t be disappointed :)

We loved staying here. The owners are so friendly and helpful. No issues with anything. The bed was comfy. The property is so cool with all the greenery and flowers. Very close to small grocery stores and restaurants.

fabulous hidden and secluded property cliff side where a short walk takes you to view the ocean. Be prepared to drive 25 minutes from Pa’ia but if you want jungle sounds, swaying palms and complete privacy…this is your place.

Incredible Cottage!!!

This cottage served as the perfect home away from home for our dream Hawaii vacation! Everything was as described and more. We prefer to be away from all of the other tourists and Huelo Point is the perfect location for that. We enjoyed the private space and constant ocean breezes flowing through the cottage. I have nothing but high praise for this property and Sharyn, the owner.

What an amazing place!

We had the best time here! What a beautiful place and amazing property! The hosts were fantastic! Upon arrival we were gifted with lots of delicious goodies and we enjoyed them all. We loved the hot tub at night, relaxing and watching the stars. We also saw some whales from the look out point! I can’t say enough about how amazing our stay was. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy this little slice of heaven!

Beautiful and private!

Lovely cottage in the rain forest! We woke up every day to singing birds and blowing breezes. We explored the surrounding areas easily without being in the middle of it all. Lori made sure we had everything we needed and then we never saw another person for the rest of our stay. It was great!

Cute, Comfy, and Quiet

Nice & slightly off the beaten path cottage along the early portions of the road to Hana. Great location for just relaxing or visiting Hana/Upcountry/Haleakala! Hosts are super nice and great communicators. Full kitchen along with private hot tub and access to a pool make this a great location for just chillin or visiting local attractions. There are four cottages on site, but, along with ample vegetation, they are situated so they are still very private. We loved our stay!!!!

Paradise for Two

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the cottage. We were on our delayed honeymoon (2020 wedding). The stars were like nothing we had seen before and the tranquility was just what we were looking for! We know there were other guests, but we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. 40th wedding anniversary trip

We stayed at Haleakala Cottage on the second portion of our 10 day trip to Maui. We wanted to be close to road to Hana and it was that and more. Such a peaceful place with wonderful comfort touches, from the bed, extra pillows, towel warmer, private hot tub and garden, fresh flowers through cottage and treats waiting for us in refrigerator. The host was amazing with a special medical request I had and we loved the short walk to the coast to watch the sunrise. Highly recommend!

Wonderful jungle location on road to Hana

Nice small bungalow with everything you need for your stay. Coffee, spices, bottle of wine and kits of little extras. Had a small barbecue, just need to bring your own briquettes. Property managers were super responsive and provided everything needed. Including chairs and boogie boards for the beach. Audio on the road to Hana. Works stay here again

A true Aloha experience!

This is an amazing property off the Road to Hana that is owned by a lovely family. I was welcomed with wonderful food and fresh flowers. They allowed me to stay a few extra hours and were absolutely delightful throughout my stay. The cottage is darling and comfortable with an outdoor shower and everything one needs for an authentic Hawaiian experience. I will be back!

Sharyn is an actress, writer, speech therapist, permaculturalist & interior decorator. At the moment, she's enjoying theatre improv and working on a one woman monologue show, which she'll perform in a few months.

Jeff is a retired dentist - now he specializes in metaphysical counseling, and is expanding his hypnosis practice into Subconscious Training. (Previously he used these skills in working with phobic patients in dentistry - but these skills have much wider applications and he's having fun expanding them).

We have one young son, Kai Nalu, aged 19, who was born here in Maui. He's a heck of a surfer! We also have an older son, Adrian, who lives in England with his lovely German wife, Antje and their 2 totally cute kids. We're too young to have grandchildren! aaaggghh!!! But what a treat!

Huelo is off the beaten path, wild and wonderful. Who could resist? We have a constant trade wind, so we never 'bake' like the west side ... and here the landscape is lush, so it's easy to do our organic gardening. We wanted a Maui dream escape, but also wanted some conveniences, and these we have aplenty!

Privacy and relaxation are things that are priceless. So many people find they rediscover those things, when they stay with us. Romance too, of course - that comes naturally when you've re-created that space for just for yourselves. This is the natural part of Maui - not 'manicured' or 'manufactured' to be part of a Hollywood image. Here, you discover the 'real' Maui - exotic ... waterfalls ... bamboo forests ... soaring ocean cliffs ... nesting seabirds ... wild ocean ... what we dream of, when we say 'Hawaii'. Here, you'll feel 'remote', but still enjoy the conveniences of having access to 3 small towns (Pa'ia, Makawao and Haiku) for easy grocery pickup, P.O., delightful boutiques & fun restaurants.
