About this property
Charming Log Cabin and Guest House on Beautiful East Grand Traverse Bay
Impeccably maintained and beautifully landscaped log cabin and adjacent guest cottage on 100' of direct Old Mission Harbor frontage. Sandy beach, gorgeous sunrises, breathtaking views and tranquility nestled on the northern end of the Old Mission Peninsula, amongst wineries and restaurants to satisfy even the most discriminating taste. The property is part of The Stonewall 6 acre estate, which stands as a Peninsula icon since 1865 on 600' of lake frontage. This incredibly unique setting is private, luxurious and simply cannot be duplicated anywhere. Visitors from all over the country have described this location as the most beautiful they have seen, reminiscent of the Coast of Maine and sitting directly on the 45th Parallel, as does Bordeaux, France. The log cabin has 2 bedrooms with a queen size bed in each, 2 tastefully remodeled full baths, granite kitchen, fieldstone fireplace and a spectacular covered, wrap around porch lined with Adirondack chairs, where each hour feels like it is only a minute long. Tongue and groove cedar on the walls and ceilings, along with hardwood floors create the quintessential northern Michigan getaway atmosphere. The adjacent carriage house (which is optional and an additional $250 per night) has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with 2 twin beds. There is a recently remodeled full bath in the carriage house. It is just a short walk to the Old Mission General store for snacks, lunch, pizza or best of all...an ice cream cone to top off the perfect day. For the wine enthusiast, the Old Mission Peninsula is home to a host of fantastic wineries boasting great wines and unparalleled views. The property is located 15 miles outside of downtown Traverse City, which has become a "foodies paradise" and also provides endless shopping opportunities. It truly is the BEST of all worlds...peace and tranquility at the cabin and just a short drive for anything else you could possibly want.

About the host
Hosted by John DiLorenzo
I am the CEO of an employee benefits agency called Michigan Planners, headquartered in Washington, MI. As a youngster, my family always spent our annual summer vacation in the Traverse City area and I have loved it ever since. It was my dream to own a waterfront place of my own one day. That dream became a reality in July of 2000. And now...decades later, I still get excited every time I turn onto the Old Mission Peninsula! It is an incredibly unique and spectacular place!
Why they chose this property
I spent a year searching for my northern MI getaway and was just not finding what I imagined to be the perfect spot...until I pulled into this property and my heart instantly began to thump. In an instant, I knew this was, beyond a shadow of a doubt the spot for me! Consequently, this oasis has become my passion and my hobby. It is a continual work of art for me with improvements being made every year to the residences and grounds. I am VERY PROUD of what this property, known as Stonewall has become through its evolution under my ownership.
What makes this property unique
The Stonewall property is a 6 acre, waterfront estate located on Old Mission Harbor with the most spectacular sun and moon rises I have ever seen! There are several buildings on this site, each one incredibly unique and charming in its own way.
The main residence was built in 1865 and formerly an Inn. It has an unmistakably stately presence on the south end of the property. The cabin and carriage house are located on the north end of the property with many mature trees and a vineyard separating the residences. There is a "lighthouse" on site that was built as an entertainment venue and the grounds are impeccably landscaped and meticulously maintained. There is simply nothing else like Stonewall!
