Bathed in natural light and with stunning views that span nearly a hundred miles, Chill Hill is a secluded and private hilltop getaway that's perfect for a memorable, relaxing wine country holiday. Set on nearly an acre of lush grounds, this an immaculately kept, designer home that's perfect for indoor/outdoor living.

The wine country home features lush, natural views from every window (even the bathrooms) and is located within minutes of world-class vineyards and wineries, the coast, and the quaint towns of Healdsburg, Sonoma, Glen Ellen, and Kenwood. It's a perfect location -- close to everything, but a million miles away.

The house is set-up for true California Wine Country living. Like a mini-resort, it features:

- Open floor plan overlooking the Pacific Coast's western mountain ranges and vineyards

- Warm 30' swimming pool fed by crystal clear, spring water (80-84 degrees F avg. temp)

- Outdoor dining pavilion with giant views of the Russian River Valley

- Yoga deck and Zen garden

- Herb garden and seasonal vegetable gardens

- Numerous outdoor seating areas, quiet nooks, and vista points

- Hilltop perch

- Fruit trees: apples, oranges, lemons, plums, olives...

- Weber BBQ

- Chiminea

Inside: The house has three bedrooms. On the first floor is a large master with en suite bath and natural stone, walk-in shower for two. There are two more bedrooms that share a brand new, slate and marble bath on the secluded second floor. Both upstairs bedrooms open to an adjoining sunroom with a DVD screen, spin bike, sitting area, and tons of books. The main floor features a living room and dining area with formal seating for six. There is also a 6' ebony grand piano and giant picture windows facing the Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valleys and the coastal hills. At the heart of the main floor is a large, open, chef's kitchen with Viking appliances, commercial gas range, La Pavoni espresso machine, and a beautiful 11-foot antique work table from 19th century France, with stool seating for casual meals. The kitchen spills to a warm seating area with wood-burning fireplace, 55" flat screen TV, and a giant picture window with expansive valley views all the way to the coast and guaranteed gorgeous sunsets just about every evening.

Natural wood plank floors span the first floor with beautiful Persian carpets, recessed halogen lighting (all on dimmers), Asian antiques, and artwork. The house is instantly comfortable and perfectly decorated with restraint and casual elegance.

A short walk down the hill will take you to the area's best bakery, coffee shop, florist, a boutique grocery store, and a popular family restaurant -- all locally owned. The renowned Santa Rosa Certified Farmer's Market is a few miles away on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Downtown is just a few minute's drive where you'll find Michelin-awarded restaurants, cafes, shopping, movies, live music, brew-pubs, attractions, and more. And of course, there are hundreds of world-class wineries to be explored in every direction. We've left an extensive list of our favorite local spots for guests.

Please note that parties, events, weddings, annulments, electronic music festivals, Burning Man reunions, and related celebrations at the home are *strictly prohibited*. Sorry. It's really quiet here and respect for neighbors is absolutely essential. At night, the stars and lights below will twinkle while sounds of civilization are replaced by those of nature.

You'll find Chill Hill to be a super peaceful and restful escape of the best kind. Welcome to Sonoma County!

About Property Manager

We love to travel, cook, entertain, and play. Food, wine and music are some of our passions and we've found all of them here in gorgeous Northern California. The times that we've spent here have been inspiring -- Chill Hill is a unique place to be creative, to write, play music, and gather with friends.

Why Property Manager chose Santa Rosa

Chill Hill provides the perfect escape to relax, entertain, cook, or just float in the pool after a day visiting the area's world class vineyards. The house instantly feels like a vacation resort and it's been tastefully decorated with Asian and European antiques. We recently installed a chef's kitchen using high-end appliances, commercial gas stove, and an 11' work table from 19th century France. The secluded grounds are filled with fruit trees, tomatoes, herbs, and you're welcome to help yourself to whatever happens to be in season. Beautiful sunsets are almost guaranteed and our local deer often wander up to the front windows to get a look inside. Even though the house is just minutes from town, you'll feel like you're way out in the country...and on top of the world.

What makes this Villa unique

We took the advice of an old-timer who shared some home-buying wisdom a few years ago. He said if you're going to live in the SF Bay Area, you should seek out three things: 1) a great view 2) lots of sunshine 3) a pool

We had a fabulous stay at beautiful Chill Hill. In spite of cool weather and a guest with a bad cold, we managed to utilize all that wine country has to offer. The home is set up so that both couples could have complete privacy when wanted but also wonderful open common areas for cooking, talking and watching sunsets. We DVR'd movies and football and spent outdoors reading, harvesting tomatoes and just enjoying the view.

Not to be missed was our wine and food pairing at St. Francis Winery and wine tasting (and buying) in the Dry Creek Valley. Roy and Johnna's Chill Hill Cheat Sheet was so helpful in getting to know the area. The recommendations were right on the mark. We had a fun dinner at Bird & the Bottle in Santa Rosa and burgers and salad at Carmen's. The extensive varieties of prepared food at Pacific Market was perfect to snack on at home.

Thanks a bunch for the perfect long weekend.

The location is incredibly private to the point that window coverings are limited in the home. The pool was well maintained. The kitchen was stocked to suit our needs. The owners stayed in touch during our stay to make sure we were happy. We enjoyed day trips to Napa and The Sonoma Coast State Park as well as visits to wineries right in Sonoma County. The Chill Hill "Cheat Sheet" provided by the owners provided us with valuable suggestions including grocery store options, restaurants and wineries. This home is a gem!

                                                                      And please do!

Oustanding house with gorgous views and fantstic pool

                                                                      Douglas B.

We've stayed at a number of houses in Sonoma county over the years, but this was clearly the best. The house itself was beautifully furnished with everything your could possibly need. Two large picture windows provided stunning views across the valley. It was a joy watching the sunset in the evening, and then seeing the fog spill over the mountain tops early in the morning. My son and I both play piano, so having a grand piano was a huge bonus. The inside of the house was very clean and functional. The pool was incredible. This is where we spent a good portion of our day. The pool area is beautifully landscaped and very serene. We really didn't want to leave the house to go sightseeing, it was so relaxing just hanging at the house. My wife is an interior designer, who is usually very critical of the places we stay at ... not this time. I would also mention that the house is centrally located in Sonoma County. So, if you have to go sightseeing, everything is in a relatively short drive. This is one of the few places we could see ourselves coming back to over and over. Highly recommended!

                                                                      Owner's Response:

Wow. Thank you for the very kind words. We're super happy that you enjoyed your visit and certainly look forward to your return!

Loved this place and would return!

                                                                      Jules H.

This is home has a beautiful view with glorious sunsets. The home's description is accurate, with a lot of nuances: staples in the kitchen, dessert in the fridge, hairdryer, small shampoo bottles in case you forgot yours, laundry detergent, a garden with tomatoes, a lemon and lime tree, etc. The property is well maintained and clean. The owners provided directions to restaurants, wineries, cheese makers, grocery stores, etc. info ahead of time. The only issue we had was it did get hot and had small fans; but we did go during the hottest week of their summer (at one point is was 101 degrees; glad we had the pool) and the weather is not their fault. I would definitely book this home again!! and recommend it.

Wineries: Saw 8 and these were my favorites: St. Francis, Cakebread, The Caves, Buonchristiana, The Iron Horse - absolutely beautiful views, and Foppiano. Restaurants: 3 favorites - Risibisi, HB&G, Juicy Pig and Pieology.

                                                                      Activities: Armstong Redwoods Reserve.

Thank you for the kind review. Yes, you visited during the hottest day(s) of the last few years. In case of weird heat again, we've upgraded the size of the fans!

Lovely, serene, comfortable retreat in Santa Rosa!

We just concluded a 6 night stay at this home in Santa Rosa. What a treat to be able to stay in such a lovely home. Everything was comfortable, livable and convenient. The property is located on top of a hill of an established and supremely charming area of Santa Rosa. The views from this hilltop perch were awe inspiring! The grounds were full of cozy nooks with an abundance of fruit trees and vistas from every corner! Inside the home was just as lovely, from a well-equipped farmhouse kitchen, to beautifully upholstered overstuffed furniture, to comfortable beds in all three bedrooms. The location was convenient to world-class mountain biking and running trails as well as wine country on the other spectrum. The owners were easy and kind to work with too! We would love to visit again. We rate this 5 stars!

It's only 15-20 minutes to Healdsburg, Sonoma Square, Kenwood, Glen Ellen, Petaluma, and about 25 minutes to the legendary beaches and coves of the Pacific Coast. Located about 45 minutes north of San Francisco, you'll find over 200 wineries within a short drive. Napa Valley is to the east and world-class cycling roads (and trails) connect the entire area. While the home and grounds are private, quiet, and perched on a secluded ridge-top with amazing vistas, you can descend the hill in minutes to be in the heart of the action if you choose.
