About this property

Charming vintage 1920s bungalow & native tropical Florida garden

Enjoy this beautiful vintage 1920s bungalow only minutes from Anna Maria Island and some of Florida's best beaches. Everything in this bungalow - from the modern kitchen and bathrooms to the original wood floors to the tropical back garden & screen house - has been updated to make it a luxurious Florida getaway.

The living space has 9-foot ceilings & lots of windows to bring in the Florida sunshine. There are 2 bedrooms with luxury queen beds. One bedroom has a cathedral ceiling & French doors that lead out to the tropical garden full of native plants to attract butterflies and birds. The second bedroom has a 4-poster bed, window seat and comfy chair for curling up with a good book or tablet. Guests can use the third room to watch TV or use as a home office.

The kitchen has everything a cook could want including a gas stove, microwave, quality pots & pans, spices and cooking gadgets of every kind.

As nice as it is inside, what also makes this house extra special is the outdoor space. Guests can relax in the screened-in front porch or have total privacy in the large fenced-in back garden and spacious screen house. From the screen house you'll look out at the garden planted with Florida native plants designed to attract birds and butterflies.

We've tried to think of everything - big and small - to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Additional amenities include central A/C, blackout shades, ceiling fans, dishwasher, washer/dryer, beach chairs & beach towels. We supply many of the little things you don't always find in a vacation rental like nice linens and towels, cloth napkins, hair dryer, spices, coffee & tea and more.

The neighborhood has that old Florida feel, with tropical moss-draped trees surrounding older homes, family friendly sidewalks in a quiet residential area.

Walking and biking distance from the house is downtown Bradenton, The River Walk, Historic District, Village of the Arts art district, and Robinson Nature Preserve. Close to several top-notch golf courses for public play. 15 minutes by car are the gorgeous beaches and cute towns of Anna Maria Island, dolphin and manatee watching, boating, the IMG Sports Academy, Sarasota and McKechnie Field (major league baseball spring training). We provide guests with a detailed list of our favorite activities and restaurants in the area.

This is a great spot for couples, friends, and families with older children to enjoy time together but it's not a place to entertain. And we love children but because of the furnishings, this may not be the right home for guests with young children.

Only the guests on the lease (4 max) to spend the night here. No parties please.

In addition, no smoking and no candles please.

Please note - I have a strict cancellation policy and highly recommend guests buy travel insurance so they’re covered in case they have to cancel outside the refund window.

lovely place to stay
Two friends and I rented Blue Bungalow for 6 days. We came to Bradenton to escape winter weather and to take in some spring training games. The Blue Bungalow was a very nice find -- attractive, comfortable, clean, newly restored, re-decorated, and furnished. The kitchen was well equipped and had top-notch appliances. The bedrooms were comfortable (note, though, that one bedroom has only a fold-out couch and by day is the "tv room"). It would be nicer if there were seating in the backyard garden, and maybe that's in the plan. We visited three ball parks, one very close, the others less than an hour away. Good restaurants close by. The beaches are quite close too. The neighborhood is a nice area to jog in. I'd stay there again.

Beautiful Bungalow in a Great Location
I highly recommend this bungalow for your next vacation! The home is beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. It is located in an adorable neighborhood and is walking distance to restaurants and shops in downtown Bradenton. Anna Maria Island's magnificent beaches, shops, and restaurants are also a short drive - less than ten miles - from this perfect home away from home. I can't wait to book my next trip!

Fantastic-couldn't be better!
Our family of 5 couldn't have been more comfortable and happy with this experience. The bungalow was modern, clean, well equipped and beautiful. Everything we needed for the beach was there, everything necessary in the kitchen was provided, clean towels, linens, and a beautifully decorated and comfortable space. The backyard was a beautiful bonus. Our hosts suggestions for restaurants and things to do was right on the money! Made us feel like we were experiencing an insiders look into this part of Florida and not just another tourist trip. Thanks-we hope to rent from you again.

Absolutely wonderful!
We truly had a wonderful time. The Blue Bungalow was absolutely beautiful. They did a fantastic job redoing the 1925 bungalow. The location was very convenient to Tampa, Sarasota and to the beaches. We visited Moto marine Laboratory and to the Big Cat Habitat. We tried to do to Tampa aquarium, but didn’t realize it was a cruise port and the parking lot was full, so we cut our losses. We spent one day on Coquina Beach and one day on Anna Maria Island. We also visited the local preserve one afternoon. All 4 of us just truly loved hanging out at the house and enjoyed the front porch most of all! This house has all of the amenities you would need! The garden in the back was beautiful as well and saw several monarchs! I hope my butterfly weed looks that good this year. Thanks again for a lovely stay!! We hated to leave.

Four Star Property
We enjoyed our stay! The home provided us with all the amenities we were looking for. The kitchen was wonderful and well stocked with pots and pans. We especially loved the window overlooking the garden. Getting to and from the beach was easy and we appreciated the chairs and umbrellas. Even provided a cooler for the next visitor to enjoy. The directions and summary provided by the owner were detailed. We took her up on two recommendations; the tour of older homes across Manatee Road and public transportation to Anna Marie Island. This screened in porch was an extension of the home and provided us with extra room. This Blue Bungalow was actually green, and still WONDERFUL!

I'm a Chicago native who loves travel, decorating, nature, and the arts. I've been to 40+ countries - and try to add at least one new one to the list every year. I've lived in cities most of my life (NYC, London & Chicago) and love owning a house. Even sweeping the porch & pulling weeds makes me happy -- maybe because I've never had to do it before! When I'm not in Denver or traveling, Bradenton is my second home - and I'm excited to share it with people who will love it as much as I do!

Why they chose this property

This is our third property in Bradenton. (Please see our other listings #4171186 & #7407639). While so much in Florida is new, we LOVE the vintage bungalows found in and around Bradenton. When we first found this little house, it was a wreck. Crumbling ceilings, falling plaster, floors that were falling apart and a back yard that was an overgrown sandpit. But, we saw the potential to turn this into a gem! To us, new construction just can't compete with the charms of an old house. We saw it when we walked in the front door: the tall ceilings, original wood floors, beautiful detail on the ceiling, gorgeous old molding, a front porch with original Spanish tile ... but it was a labor of love to get it habitable again. But we LOVE this house and wanted to make it sparkle. Everything in the house is top-of-the line. It was renovated to a typical rental. It was renovated to be a wonderful forever home that we are happy to share.

What makes this property unique

We are 5 minutes from downtown Bradenton and all it has to offer.
Nature preserves are all around us so you can go for a walk, bike ride, run, paddle board, kayak, or just stroll and take in the sights and sounds of nature.

We are 15-20 minutes from Anna Maria Island. One advantage to not being on the island is not having to deal with the terrible traffic & crowds, especially in season. Anna Maria is gorgeous - but living there full time, would be too crowded and busy for us. We love the freedom to visit the island and beaches when we want and then come back to our sanctuary here. You can drive or bike (or even take the bus) to the island in the morning, spend the day at the beach & then come home to your private oasis here. No loud parties or bars. Just privacy & comfort.

Sarasota with all its attractions (it's a WONDERFUL small city with too many attractions to mention) is only 25 minutes away.
There's also Siesta Key, voted the best beach in the world, just west of Sarasota (& south of Anna Maria Island) & popular Longboat Key.
And there is plenty to explore up north - downtown St. Pete, which has a great art community and lots of trendy restaurants, great beaches, and Tampa.
