2 Bedroom, 1 Bath With Killer Views And Privacy
This renovated cabin was on skids, and we have added a beautiful sunroom/living area with a walk out grade patio to complete the design. It has solar power, with a back up generator..and has a pull out couch, as well as twins in each bedroom, so sleeping capacity is 6. We have a wonderful weber grill, as well as a fire pit on the patio, outside dining and a nice covered front porch, for shade in the hot afternoons...also has a gazebo, on the top of the elk pen here on the Ranch. Nice place for a nap, or practice your morning or evening yoga!

Terry Porter was born and raised here in New Castle and makes Porter Ranch his home and living. He raises Rocky Mountain Elk here, and is a custom Hay Rancher. Custom hay ARE our bread and butter, but we also have goats, horses, chickens for fresh eggs and raise 2 natural bred imported dogs, lakelands and pepper and salt giant shnauzers. come visit any time.
Terry and Mary purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Terry and Mary chose Garfield County
This cabin is for those special someone's who really want to get away from it all. You are completely secluded, with all the luxuries of home..you must be judicious with the power, and understand that there is a lot of responsibility with being in with the elk. BUT,,,,talk about a unique experience. You will love it.
What makes this Cabin unique
Covered front porch, nice outside clawfoot tub for a sun shower, or a dog bath, private gazebo and complete solitude. Outside grill and fire pit, pull out couch and walk out grade Colorado red stone patio. Really nice and very very private.FREE WIFI NOW. It is slow. FYI.

Stunning view, cozy, great amenities
As the first vacation I've ever planned, I certainly chose the perfect location. There were supposed to be 8 of us, but in the end only 3 of us were able to make the trip. Everybody got their own room, which was more than enough space, kitchen is well stocked with appliances and cookware. My friend who had intended to bring a big selection of spices to cook with wound up forgetting his cooking bag, but it worked out because the cabin has plenty of spices for just about any meal. The wood burning stove kept the whole place very adequately warm. The first night we arrived it had been snowing most of the day so it was very cold outside, but inside there were no complaints to be had. This cabin provided the perfect place to relax for a week and take in Colorado's natural beauty. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with my stay and I will absolutely be booking here again on my next trip. Thank you so much for opening your beautiful cabin to us and allowing us to enjoy it for the week.
remote, beautiful scenery, not the easiest to access
Very beautiful, remote location. Worth visiting. Arrival was complicated as delays with car rental and traffic resulted in us arriving just before dark (8:45pm). Owner was not happy about this, but still came to help us find the cabin, which unfortunately was not easy to find from the directions provided. There was confusion and difficulty communicating with payment for the rental and some further confusion with issues during the stay. Lots of mice and mice droppings in the cabin, which didn't bother us too much but might bother some people. Although there were some solar showers in the cabin, the tub outside was not set up to easily use as a shower as it seemed to be indicated (also tub was very dirty, which I guess we should have expected since it is outside). Overall though, the location makes it all worth while.
First thanks for leaving the cabin so neat!
Second, I did not clean the cabin and this is the second time( the first was private) that it wasn't up to snuff!
I extend a free weekend to you whenever you can return. My sincere apologies....
With the cabin being in the middle of nowhere it's hard to keep the critters out:)
I state no after dark check ins....and you did agree at noon to be there early eve.
No, I was not happy to be woken up at 9
As ranchers during hay seasons are up at 4. As I recall I apologized for my grumbling! So, as to confusion while you stayed! I gave you a discount. ...
Again....Great to have you and come back when you can!
Peace and quiet
If you don't mind the howling of coyotes and the hoofbeats of the elk, then this is your place for peace and quiet. Add in an amazing view, a nice variety of birds, and a lovely sunroom, and you will be in heaven.
