About Ed Beveridge

We are Ed & Jo Beveridge, the proud owners of the Spoon Lake Lodge since the middle of summer 2013. We fell in love with the serenity & beauty of Spoon Lake & the custom log-accented home built by the former owners/custom home builder the minute we saw it.

It's our little slice of heaven in the Flathead forest just outside Glacier National Park and we would like you to enjoy it too.

I'm Ed & I was born in Montana. I have spent most of my life living in or visiting Montana from wherever life has taken me. You never can get Montana out of your blood. I have been enjoying Glacier National Park like my parents most of my life & lived for many years on Flathead Lake. We also enjoyed Whitefish Lake for over 10 years when our kids were younger.

My wife, Jo, is a converted Minnesota gal who loves her singing loons & the mountain lakes in Montana. We have been bringing our three sons to Montana since they were little. All three are married now and we have 1 granddaughter and 1 grandson. Our daughter-in-laws from Arizona, South Dakota, and Washington are also embracing our Montana dream.

Ed Beveridge purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Ed Beveridge chose Glacier Country

This property is 8 miles north of Columbia Falls, a little town between Whitefish & West Glacier. Historic & remote Polebridge is 27 miles further up the road with remote access to glacial lakes along the western slopes of GNP. The pavement ends about 3 miles past Spoon Lake after the back road short cut, Blankenship Road turn off to West Glacier. Everyone who has stayed at the Spoon Lake lodge seems to spend most of their time hiking, fishing, exploring Glacier Park & all the wonderful surrounding communities & lakes. We offer you a very comfortable place with a spectacular serene view and the songs of our Spoon loons with all the comforts of home at the end of your day. Or just relax & take a spin in the rowboat or kayaks right outside your door.

What makes this cabin unique

The lower apartment is fully contained & locked off from the owner's space on the top two floors. It has a covered patio w/ a BBQ and outdoor table & chairs. Walk right out to the grassy lakefront. You will have a full kitchen with a breakfast counter or folding table if you want more indoor eating space. , inside full-sized laundry room, & spacious full bath with a new steam shower. The living room has a large picture window & rock fireplace with gas logs. The bedroom also enjoys a large picture window view to the lake. It has both a queen bed & twin sofa bed. The living room has a new queen sofa bed and two wicker chairs with a cozy gas rock fireplace. All the towels & linens are provided for your arrival. You have the use of the row boat & 2 kayaks. It is a mostly non-motorized 60 acre lake so it's very quiet. If you are visiting while my wife Jo, or one of my daughter-in-laws are upstairs you will no doubt be treated to any number of their fabulous edible creations.............if you're lucky it will be with huckleberries. Feel free to forage for huckleberries. Pray for Huckleberries in abundance.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great first visit to GNP!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our 5 night stay at the cabin on Spoon Lake in early August. The location is very convenient to West entrance of GNP. After long days of hiking, fishing and exploring, we couldn't wait to get back. We missed visiting local restaurants as we felt the best evening view was our front porch. We were able to prepare dinner in the full kitchen and sit outside in the red chairs to watch the sun set with glass of wine in hand! I even took a quick swim in the lake but we never had time to use the kayaks. Maybe next time!

2017 summer trip

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time. Cabin was clean and very comfortable. Enjoyed breakfast on the porch and the awesome steam shower. It was a short drive to the west entrance of GNP. had some great lakeside amenities that we didn't use as much as we'd like to because at park so late. Owners were super nice and knowledgeable. Even baked us huckleberry muffins. The only somewhat negative thing I'd say is that we had to get used to having people above us. They weren't noisy but you could hear them, especially on the porch. And we worried about waking others when we came in late. Wish we'd had more time there.

Had a blast at Spoon Lake Lodge

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Spoon Lake Lodge. The cabin was in a great location with easy access to GNP and Whitefish. We loved being right on the small lake and used the kayaks and stand up paddle boards a couple of times. On our first night, Ed let us know that they were saying it might be possible to see the northern lights at GNP. We tried but were unsuccessful. It was still a fun adventure to go into the park in the dark. Ed also gave us other tips and suggestions to try while we were there. This is a great place to stay when visiting the west side of GNP.

Great spot with its own lake (and loons) and just a short drive to Glacier National Park

  • 5 of 5

This VRBO is the lower level of a log home, with splendid views of Spoon Lake. We were there for a hot July week -- highs in the mid- to upper 90s most days -- but the place always stayed cool. It was spotless and nicely decorated and had everything you'd need for a week away from real life. There's at least one fine restaurant in nearby Columbia Falls -- Three Forks Grille -- and your own grill on the patio for meals at home. Whitefish, also close by, has plenty of shopping and dining spots.

VRBO owners Ed and Jo are great hosts, and their dog Artemis is a sweetheart. The lake is no-motor, so no noise and no wake, and Ed and Jo will let you use their rowboat, kayaks or paddle boards, if that's your thing. They also keep a couple of cans of bear spray in the VRBO, so that's something you don't have to buy. We carried a can whenever we went into the park, and it worked -- never saw a bear. Did see mountain goats, bighorn sheep and deer, and two eagles perched along Lake McDonald.

The VRBO has a full kitchen, a bedroom off to the side, a terrific double steam shower and a laundry room. Big windows look out on Spoon Lake, where we saw a pair of loons with a young one paddling about. Their cry, toward dusk, is haunting, but only mildly.

Glacier was spectacular, and Ed gave us great tips on some lesser-known parts of the park.

All in all, this VRBO is a great place to stay, with gracious hosts, and close to the park and Columbia Falls. Highly recommended.

The perfect place to make lifetime memories!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second vacation to the Glacier area. Both times, my son and I, stayed at Spoon Lake. This year we brought my son's bestfriend and his brother. The guys (early twenties) had plenty to do: paddleboard, kayaks, rowboat and hiking. The cabin has the perfect setting. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought and preparation into providing a great rental and experience. We can't wait to be back, on vacation, at Spoon Lake.
