About Tony

We are Tony and Jen and have been coming to and enjoying Hudson valley since 1985, when we first discovered the beauty of this great region of new york. Our Family and friends have a life time of memories from this area. Now we would like to be able to share this with others.

Tony purchased this chateau / country house in 1997

Why Tony chose Taghkanic

after looking at property for over two years with my friends father, I decided that this piece was the right one,

it was off the beaten path, no neighbors

around, just woods and nature, yet only 5 minutes to milk and bread and the taghkanic parkway. so we cleared the land, cut the trees to make room for the homestead. The home was buillt and completed in 2013

What makes this chateau / country house unique

It is the peacefulness of this place, That i love, quiet dirt road hardly traveled, you can sit on the front porch and watch the deer come to feed on the lawn. Its the silence of not having a neigbor in sight where you can sit and enjoy family, friends ,or that great book your reading

And from the inside of the home you have the same experience

as the outside with tall floor to ceiling windows, you feel like your outside when your inside.

The Great Escape!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed late July 2018

Frederick L.

Very nicely maintained home, both peaceful and quiet. Off the beaten path, giving us time to re-charge. Many different birds about including hummingbirds, yellow finches, bluebirds, and other various songbirds. Weather was low 80's with hardly any humidity, and truly very comfortable. Noticed no mosquitos, and enjoyed dinner outside on the deck every night, without worry of being pestered. Enjoyed seeing deer there daily (including fawns and a buck in velvet), and even a coyote was spotted scooting down the dirt road up front, and chipmunks all about. Went to Taghkanic Park, Kaaterskill Falls, and down to a Lighthouse somewhere along the Hudson. We took a ride to Woodstock to check out the scenery, and headed up to Hunter Mountain to ride the ziplines all the way back down. Various golf courses close by, and played 18 holes at Red Hook which was about 1/2 hour away. Nice course (saw deer there too), and not very crowded mid-week when we went. Thanks for the recommendation, Tony! And thanks for checking in and taking good care of us, appreciate it! Had a great time overall, and looking forward to coming back soon.

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been happier with the accommodations. The house is large, comfortable, and in excellent, clean condition. It had everything we needed. It's located in a quiet, relaxing, rural area surrounded by woods but is still within a few minutes of just about anything you'll need.

The weather was rainy and we were unable to hike or canoe so we took advantage of visiting Kaaterskill Falls (Spruce Creek), the Thomas Cole (Catskill) and Olana State Historical Sites (Olana), the Norman Rockwell Museum and studio (Stockbridge, MA), Woodstock, NY and the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, all of which are in the Hudson River Valley and within an hour's drive or less. The area is beautiful! If you are an art enthusiast and/or love the outdoors, you will love it. It would be a great destination for motorcyclists because of the winding, curvy, hilly roads.

The host was very responsive and accommodating. He truly wants you to enjoy your stay and will do everything to make that happen. It was a great vacation.

Beautiful, immaculate house

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful house. Everything was A-Class and very clean. A masculine decor. If you want to hear song birds, this is the place. Stars are beautiful at night, and air-conditioning kept us cool in 90 degree heat and humidity. We saw a dear and small spotted fawn and heard two owls hooting at one another. Tony is a gracious host and easy to work with if you hit any kind of snag. My only suggestion would be to have a folder available with a list of suggested local restaurants, grocery stores, sites to see, etc. Just might have to go back for some more R&R!

This property was everything my husband and I were looking for. Whether you want to relax on the covered veranda on the front of the house or lounge on the open deck in the back beneath the beautiful canopy of stars; you simply can't go wrong! We were there for our 21st wedding anniversary. We are so "happy" we chose Tony's HAPPY place. We highly recommend this property. And Tony, thank you so very much for everything! You are simply the best!!! We'll be seeing you again☺ Cathy & Ron

Elizaville in Summer

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to this spacious and comfortable house and we enjoyed it immensely, being able to see the countryside in a different season. There is a beautiful tree on the property that has a U-shaped

bark and we have now captured its beauty in both the winter and summer. Tony, the owner, is very accommodating and gracious and

his desire to design a house that is made for comfort and enjoyment is evident in the quality of the appliances, the beautifully polished wood floors, fully equipped kitchen for all of our cooking needs, comfortable

mattresses and linens and the light-filled rooms from the expansive windows overlooking the property. We were able to enjoy the outdoor

deck this time and that was an added perk. The living room allows for pleasurable movie entertainment as there is more than enough comfortable furniture to satisfy everyone. We plan on spending another New Year's Eve in this delightful house and hope to see it in every season.

EXCELLENT PLACE TO BE!!!

  • 5 of 5

Tony was fantastic, easy to deal with and always available. His home was impecably clean and accurately depicted in the photos. Of course we had many choices to choose from but this was the right choice. Private, quiet and flexible if you wanted to relax, grill and enjoy the nature on the beautiful woodsy property or go explore the town or the next towns around. We did both. I would without reservation recommend Tony's family home to anyone because what you see is what you get. (Not like some of the others out there which happened to us last year.) Go for it, head to Tony's place and you won't be disappointed!! Looking forward to going back. Thank you Tony!!
