SENDING THE DEPOSIT DOES NOT MAKE THE RESERVATION. We make the reservation for the party who EMAILS us first requesting the reservation, not the one which sends the deposit first. Thank you.

Deposit: If you make a reservation, we ask people to send 50% of the total (or more if you wish) as a deposit. You can pay by check or credit or debit card if you have a PayPal account.

2016 Fire Update: We have tried to make it clear that we have a 40 mile view of the National Park and that most of the National Park did not burn. We have removed all of the trees in from of the view so that guests can see the incredible views. The ground where we took out the trees did burn but there were no trees there to see! It was a good thing because it took out the ground clutter and opened up the view even more! However, some people do not understand the difference between the trees in the 520,000 acre National Park which were mostly untouched and the short scrubby trees around the cabin that have burned. The fires did come through that night. We lost 4 cabins. The night of the fire Ed got everyone out and then returned to the property!!! He heroically and unbelievably, saved three cabins including this one. He did not leave for a week to make sure the cabins smoldering fires did not burn the surviving cabins. He is the only individual in Gatlinburg who, with nothing more than hot tub water, saved 3 cabins that night. A few other individuals stayed and saved their homes but no one else, to my knowledge, saved 3 houses by himself without a water hose! We have a nickname for him. "Superman!" He is my hero. After the fire we put the insurance money into the 3 surviving cabins and they are nicer than ever. ~ Val

Jacuzzi Update: We have notified our guests that we have turned off the old, heart-shaped jacuzzi and are removing it to put in a bathroom next to the second floor bedroom as many of our guests have requested so that they do not have to go downstairs in the middle of the night to use the restroom.

About Edward Bates

We have completed a Revolutionary, 4-part business plan.

Originally, we built these cabins 24 years ago and rented them for $99.00 a night. We quickly developed a loyal clientele who returned year-after-year and sometimes several times a year. We were packed. We then changed to a management company which raised the prices and added extra fees and we lost our loyal clientele from the '90s.

Now, here's our Revolutionary, 4-Part Business Plan.

First, we created a product that is much better than it was in the '90s. We completely restored the cabins to a condition even better than when they were new. Also, we reengineered the road to meet the highest city standards. Finally, we installed WIFI and 2-LED HDTVs in each cabin, one 50' in size.

Second, we removed the trees in front and beside the cabins to create, arguably, the best 180 degree view of the Great Smoky Mountains anywhere.

Third, we decided not to require that the guests put the typical $100.00-$500.00 security deposit, purchase $39.00 insurance policy, or even a submit a credit card number! Everything's on the honor system! That's why the final bill is so low. The honor system is working. Not one item has been stolen or broken!

Finally, we made the most Revolutionary move. We fired our management company, listed our cabins with VRBO and slashed prices LOWER than in the '90s! Most nights are offered at $98.00! As a result, we have booked over 1,000 nights in the past 3 months and received over 80 5-Star Reviews! We are developing a new, loyal clientele that is already rebooking for next year. This allows us to spend less time marketing and more time continuing to improve the property to the highest standards possible.

Our corporate mission is the same as the Apple and Disney Corporations: to offer a great product at a great price and make people happy. Our 40+ 5 Star Reviews and repeat clientele show that its working. Please join our family of friends who vacation with us over and over.

Edward Bates purchased this cabin in 1992

Why Edward Bates chose Gatlinburg

The Great Smoky Mountains are our great love and passion. We believe you will fall in love with them too. The greatest compliment we have received on the property has come from about a dozen guests over the past three years who have asked, 'Is this a part of the National Park?' The boundary between our Property and the National Park is almost indistinguishable. The photos are real and untouched. Our forest appears to be contiguous with the National Park. We truly have one of the best views and one of the best locations in America.

What makes this cabin unique

Spectacular Vista is only 39 miles from Harrah's Casino in the Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina.

Our vacation.....

  • 3 of 5

The pros and cons..... the pros the owners worked with us after we had to change our dates due to Hurricane Irma displacing is from our home for 13 days. We very much appreciated that. The cabin is beautiful and not far from Gatlinburg or anything else for that matter. The cabin has everything you and more in it. The owners could not be more helpful when you need something. The cons.... we happen to be there when the ladybugs decided it was time to swarm into the cabin causing the wasps to follow. After hiking all day we came back to a cabin full of ladybugs and wasps. We texted the owners who sent someone over right away to spray. The problem is we ended up with so many dead bugs we were walking all over them and at no point did the owners offer to come and clean it up. We had them in the shower, they were on our clothes and pretty much every where we walked it was disgusting. The tub in the master bedroom did not work. We texted the owner only for him to say “sorry, no one told you it doesn’t work. We are going to be adding another bathroom.” We checked VRBO and our conversations with the owners and at no point were we ever told it didn’t work. One final thing is they advertise it as not touched by the fires, that is untrue. The fires burned the cabin right next to it to the ground and many of the trees around the cabin were burned. With that being said it is recovering and it is beautiful. The views of the mountains are amazing and we love watching the sun rise and set from our deck. We would love to go back again without the bugs!

Owner's Response: One day, every fall, the ladybugs hatch, we spray them immediately and they are gone in 24 hours.. This year it was November 3rd and we sprayed and had them cleaned up by 7pm. Most people just laugh at ladybugs but a few freak out when they see them. We have tried to make it clear that we have a 40 mile view of the National Park and that most of the National Park did not burn. We have removed all of the trees in from of the view so that guests can see the incredible views. The ground where we took out the trees did burn but there were no trees there to see! A woman named Vera D. stayed the same nights in the cabin around the corner. Fove a more accurate picture (including the ladybugs, lol.) please look at the review that Vera D. posted at VRBO webpage# 576527 on November 8 for her stay October 29-November 5, 2017. Sincerely, Val

Wonderful cabin to experience the fall colors

  • 5 of 5

Loved it. The view is Awesome! Close to everything, yet secluded off a private road. There are other cabins, but they are separated enough. Edward is very nice and helpful. We did have an issue with the cleaning, but he took care of it immediately. We definitely will be back.

Beautiful view!

  • 4 of 5

This cabin had a beautiful view but the road is gravel and had a lot of pot holes. The cabin had well water and they use a filter but the water had an strong smell and I wouldn't recommend drinking it. The bedroom was a loft with a great view which I loved waking up to. It will be even better when they put a bathroom upstairs in place of the tub. We enjoyed our stay here.

Owner's Response: We treated the water that week which left a little chlorine in the water for a few hours. We have since fracked the well which has given us an abundance of fresh, clear water.

Adorable cabin with an amazing view and a quick drive to everything, such a great place!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was our favorite we have stayed in so far, especially for the price and location! The view was breathtaking. The cabin was clean and had adorable decorations in it. We enjoyed having the hot tub and pool table to keep us occupied when we came back for the night. Edward was very quick to respond to any communication. It only took us about 6 minutes to get to the main parkway road in Gatlinburg but we still felt far away. It definitely helped to have 4 wheel drive to get up to the cabin but that has been at any cabin with great views. We would definitely stay here again! We absolutely loved it!
