Beach, hot tub and retro arcade… need we say more? Our home is a remodeled Oceanfront home originally built in 1925 that sits on a 1/2 acre oceanfront parcel directly in front of the Twin Rocks. We have a large yard and path which connects the house directly to the beach. There are great views of the Twin Rocks from house and the deck, or get closer and hang out on picnic table overlooking the beach. We have a hot tub off the deck and a retro arcade in the basement, with Skeeball, pinball, pop-a-shot and vintage video games.

The house has 3 levels. The main house is on the top 2 levels with 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, full kitchen, TV room and great room (living/dining). The lower level apartment has 2 more bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and a kitchenette, plus the arcade. The house sleeps up to 18 (16 on beds and 2 on sofas).

Upstairs, on the top floor, there are 2 large bedrooms each with a king bed. The east room has a view of the mountains and west room has a great view of the ocean and Twin Rocks. The 2 upstairs bedrooms also have queen size beds that can be pulled out from under the main beds to sleep additional people. The top floor also has a full bathroom and a TV room.

The main floor has small vintage kitchen, a bathroom with a clawfoot tub and two smaller bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with twin bunk beds. The main floor also has a great room with a large dining table and a living area where everyone can gather around the wood stove and play games or watch the waves crash on the Twin Rocks.

The lower level apartment has two small bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a full futon, plus a kitchenette with a small dining table. The apartment has a separate outside entrance on the east side of the house, or can be accessed from the main house through an interior door on the lower level arcade room.

Outside the main house front door, facing the ocean and Twin Rocks, is a deck and a hot tub and a private path through our yard leads about 200 feet to the beautiful 7 mile stretch of beach right in front of the Twin Rocks.

The basement has an arcade game room with Skee Ball, vintage pinball machine (pinball is out of order), shuffleboard, air hockey, pop-a-shot two player basketball game, Donkey Kong multicade (with 60 games including Pac Man, Dig Dug and many more) and Area 51 2-person shooting game. All games are set for free play, so no need to bring quarters. Please note that some arcade games may not be operational during your stay, these are older games that sometimes break and we can't always fix them right away.

There is plenty of parking for at least 6 cars.

Rockaway Beach is a small coastal resort town located only about 1.5 hours from Portland. It has a beautiful 7 mile continuous beach anchored by Tillamook Bay to the south and Nehalem Bay to the north. It’s a great location with everything you need within a short drive.

Well behaved pets may be allowed with host's permission and a small fee. Please check with us if you plan to bring pets.

3 or 4 nights minimum stay in Summer, 4 nights for Summer holidays, 3 or 4 nights for Winter holidays and 2 nights the rest of the year.

Maximum occupancy for the property is 18 people.

An additional cleaning fee may be required if excessive trash is left in the house or yard. Rockaway Beach does not have curb-side recycling, so guest are required to take recyclables (glass bottles, cans, etc) to the local recycling centers in Rockaway or Tillamook.

We try our best to keep the arcade games working, but they sometimes break. We don't issue refunds for any arcade games that are not working.

This property is absolutely amazing! On a quarter acre of oceanfront land, it has a direct view of Twin Rocks and Rockaway's 7 mile beach.

Our home was built in the 30's and has gone through a few transformations from hotel, to home, to bed and breakfast and back to a home again it has a ton of character. We bought and remodeled the house, leaving the hardwood floors and awesome (but updated) vintage kitchen.

Our stay was better than I could have imagined.

The property was even better than represented. My family (14 of us) was very comfortable during the week we stayed. As it turned out everything we needed other than clothes was provided. The beds were clean and comfortable. The kitchen was fun to cook in. I really can't say enough positive things about our stay. I would HIGHLY recommend this property. Thank you Rache!le. You have been a pleasure to work with. The only negative at all was we had to leave.

Great time on the beach!

We had a great time on the Oregon coast at the Sharkalope! Plenty of sleeping quarters, and lots of fun in the Arcade. The house is on the beach, kitchen had plenty of utensils, plenty of blankets for the beds, and plenty of parking.

Property has great potential but...

My wife and I were there with our family--6 adults and four small kids in all. The house is large enough to accommodate all of us with plenty of sleeping and eating space. It's right on the beach--just a short walk through the dunes and grass and you're there. You're always in hearing distance of the ocean which is quite soothing--especially at night with the windows open. We liked the sort-of classic beach house vibe as well; the sharkalope in the front room was a nice touch! However, this property is in dire need of updating and repair. Both bathrooms need complete re-doing with new fixtures and floors. The kitchen--even moreso. It's small with older appliances and counters and it needs more counter space to prepare meals for a large crowd. The kitchen shows its age, especially with the sink and the metal cabinets the sink sits in--looks straight out of the late 1940s. Some of us found it charming--an appropriate period piece to go with the rest of the house. But most of us would have preferred a more user friendly and functional kitchen with a better layout.

Everybody liked the hot tub--especially the kids after playing at the beach for hours. But there was no hose or water spigot to rinse off in anywhere near the hot tub before going in so the kids unavoidably tracked quite a bit of sand into the tub.

There's a great little arcade in the basement with several electronic games including air hockey, skee ball, a pinball machine and the like. It kept the kids occupied after the beach while the adults were getting dinner ready. And there's top notch laundry equipment in the basement as well to get all the sandy clothes and towels clean and dry.

We have owned several rental properties over the years; currently we have a house at Mt Hood as a vacation rental among others, so we have some experience. This house house needs some updating and improving with some TLC and it would be a true gem.

Great place for families and large groups

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The house was plenty big for the 14 of us that stayed here. The kids loved having an arcade...and so did some of the adults! Easy access to the beach and the view the Twin Rocks were big pluses.

Not a good experience. ANTS!

First off we love Rockaway, it's quiet and the beach is awesome! The house was a different story, we arrived to the sharkalope to find contractors staying in the house, we found him smoking outside on the deck. Owners appartently messed up our arrive dates and had their contractors stay at the house while they were remodeling another, understandable mistakes happen. We were told that the cleaner we not able to come clean the house till the next day. We had to change out the sheets downstairs were they stayed, and clean the dishes in both kitchens. The worst part was that we woke up the next day with ants all over the basement apartment. They were in our suitcases, bathroom toiletry, bags, everywhere! After we shook out every piece of clothing and moved upstairs the cleaners came only to tell us that they were there to clean the downstairs apartment because supposedly that was all the contractors used. I pointed out the ants and the cleaners said that ants arnt normally that bad and set some more ants traps (maybe we just had bad luck). The traps they set drew in more ants in the bathroom! We ended up not using the apartment, knowing that ants would reappear everywhere, which was a bummer because we had to bunk with my in laws due to our 12 person party. The owners were generous enough to refund us for the first night but I much rather would of arrived knowing the house was freshly cleaned and vacant. I felt that we should not of paid the cleaning fee but the owners disagreed. Overall the sharkalope was not up to par for us. Beside the location and the basement games we did not enjoy the house. Due to our experience alone we cannot recommend house nor will we restay in it.

CHECK IN/OUT POLICIES
Check in time is at 4:00 pm and check out time is 11:00 am. Guest agrees to depart on time and acknowledges a late check-out fee of $50 will be charged if you depart later than 11:00 am, and $50 for every 30 minutes after until you have vacated. During the peak season we often have same day checkin/outs so it's important for the cleaner to get in promptly at 11am. Special arrangements for late check outs must be made in advance of check in.

Guests must follow check out policies in order to receive their deposit back (a full list of check out tasks is located in the house manual). Please feel free to email owner

OCCUPANCY
Please note that we have a strict maximum of 16 people as per city code - that includes any children above the age of 1. This maximum is subject to the total number of guests permitted on the property (not just those spending the night). No large parties or gatherings are allowed that would violate the occupancy limits as this overoccupancy can results in revocation of the vacation rental license. Therefore, violating this term will result in immediate eviction and a minimum fine of $500.
