We didn't use the cabin. We peeked in and it was nice.

This is a gem of a cabin - off the beaten track, but also luxurious and well appointed.

Our family stayed here this weekend. How nice to have such a cozy, comfortable place to stay so far "off the grid." It is at the end of a very steep driveway (very do-able in summer but might be difficult if any snow was present), tucked away in a private wooded location above the lake with no other homes or cabins visible.

The thing that stands out most about this cabin is the attention to detail and aesthetics, and obvious tender loving care, that the owners have put into the whole place. The decor is beautiful and there are many unexpected added touches, such as the ceramic tile Dragonfly hanging on the wall, the extremely well stocked kitchen (blender, mixer, all the pots, pans and dishes you could ever need, unique coffee mugs and dishes, etc.), and the kitchen table, which is made completely out of a tree. In addition, the kids loved the games that are stored in the living room, and stayed up late Saturday night playing Apples to Apples.

Remember to bring toilet paper, which is not provided (we were told this but still forgot, and had to drive out a few miles to buy some). Also, you need to pack all your trash out since there is no pickup out there. There is pretty good cell coverage and spotty internet (no WiFi).

I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable time away.

Out of the way...and worth it.

This is a clean, well maintained cabin, it rests in a quiet, secluded community. It was just what we needed after a busy holiday. Some of the roads are steep getting to the cabin, but most cars should be able to make it. Make sure you check out the dining table, it is a work of art.

A true peaceful gem!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, what a great 5 day vacation experinence for our family. We truly enjoyed everthing about the Dragonfly Cottage. To the owners it was a pleasure dealing with you during our stay, reservation process and quick response to question during our stay. The lake and area is a great kept secret and honestly I hope it stays that way. Our family loves the privacy and peacefulness the cottage and lake has to offer. Also, thanks to Santeelah marina where we rented a pontoon for those peaceful evening rides to view beautiful sunsets. We do plan to make this a annual family event.

Perfect Family Escape

  • 5 of 5

We could not have imagined a more perfect way to spend our spring break. My husband and I came to Dragonfly with our kids (aged 9 and 10) and my sister-in-law met us there (traveling out from the west coast). The cabin could not have been better appointed and we did not "want" for anything. Both en suite bedrooms upstairs were spacious and the beds were big and comfortable. Our girls LOVED claiming the downstairs area with the generous bunk beds, cozy couch, and their own TV and bathroom.

We spent our mornings on the deck, sipping coffee, reading, and overlooking the stunning scenery--feeling like we were in the treetops. Afternoons were filled with exploration, day hikes at nearby Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, and time spent on Lake Santeetlah (an easy walk from Dragonfly). We took the short drive one afternoon to the Nantahala Outdoor Center and went white water rafting --a thrilling and memorable excursion that we can't wait to do again. In the evening we would have a soak in the hot tub, open the wine (which we brought from home!), make a full dinner in the well-equipped kitchen, then settle in for board games, movies, and laughs.

We have a portable wifi and at&t. All three adults could easily access email, text, and make calls; however, none of us felt compelled to do so. Nature, family, and relaxing were our priorities. Dragonfly checked all the boxes and we hope to come back again very soon!
