About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 7

Looking for that perfect but affordable coastal getaway with family or friends, this two bedroom Arch Cape vacation cottage offers a quiet, relaxing location, lots of nearby shore for exploring, and a pet-friendly environment!

Inside, you'll be surrounded by a comfy couch, rocking chairs, an overstuffed chair and fireplace in its cozy, living room. Everyone will be able to pick their favorite spot to read a book, watch DVDs on the flat screen TV (there's also cable), or just hang out and talk.

This home will sleep six guests comfortably including your furry friends (both dogs and cats). Other amenities include WiFi throughout the house, and a washer and dryer for guest use. Outside, you'll also find a deck with a charcoal grill for barbecues. All you need is the burgers and beer for a memorable afternoon filled with good food, laughter, and ocean breezes.

When you're ready to explore the shore, beach access is only 300 feet away. The beaches on this part of the coast are quite scenic. Take a short walk or drive to Hug Point to discover a seasonal waterfall, caves carved into sandstone cliffs and tide pools, accessible during low tide.

While Arch Cape is a small, sleepy residential community, a bit to the north is bustling and popular Cannon Beach featuring numerous galleries, shops, and restaurants. If you don't feel like washing dishes at home, it's a short drive to the Driftwood Inn for a hearty bowl of clam chowder or its delicious razor clams. But that is only one of the many restaurants that offer delectable fair.

To the south about 10 miles is the town of Manzanita. You'll want to take an afternoon for exploring the small bookstores, galleries, and bakeries there.

Not just for a summer vacation, but any time of year. A fireplace provides both heat and ambiance to the living and dining areas, inviting guests to enjoy leisurely meals and post-dinner discussions while finishing off good wine and then taking a short walk on a refreshingly breezy and incredibly scenic beach as you watch majestic cloud formations as they play along the edge of the ocean. Dressed in comfortable winter clothing, hand-n-hand with loved ones, the scenery and relaxing nature of this area transcends cooler weather.

This property has been in our family since 1939. It has been enjoyed and cherished for five generations. We are offering it to you to enjoy a small part of our family tradition, heritage and the magnificent ambiance of this incredibly beautiful, comforting and serene area.

So, for a wonderful beach getaway to watch winter storms on the ocean or play in the summer sun, our cozy Arch Cape cottage makes a wonderful retreat!

Great escape with my children!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful place, very cozy and I was surprised at how comfortable the furniture was! Another reviewer said that the dryer took a long time to dry clothing and other items, but I was very happy with how fast it dried. Very convenient, beautiful beach, friendly neighbors, great amenities. Thank you very much, and I'm terribly sorry that I did not review sooner!

Great Dog/Faimily Friendly Arch Cape, OR Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in Arch Cape and this cute cottage was perfect. We used it as a home base and traveled to Oswald State Park - short sand beach, Devils cauldron, Manzinita Beach, Rockaway Beach, Cap Kiwanda, Cape Mears, CAnnon Beach, and Seaside. The Arch Cape beach is just a short block walk and beautiful beach for the day and sunsets. Our 3 kids and 2 Labradors loved their stay! We will be back!

Great Cottage, other issues

  • 2 of 5

My review is very mixed. We have good things to say about the place, but have still not settled payment issues 3 months later.

Group of friends got together for an enjoyable weekend at this little cottage. Had a good time and the amenities served us well. Close to the beach and close to town. Both were easily accessible. The place was comfortable and met our needs well.

The cleaning policy requires that we wash, dry and fold all linens, which makes cleaning up and heading out more difficult than it's worth. We spent our last day not playing on the beach, but trying to get everything cleaned, dried and folded in an old slow dryer. Bummer.

We were charged a bank transaction fee for your security deposit, which is well described an expected, but we were also be charged a transaction fee when our deposit was returned. The fee wound up being double our expectation.

Finally, we originally booked to bring a pet, but, a week prior to arrival, contacted the host to inform him we had opted to leave our pup home with a sitter. Too much hassle and too much grime in someone else's house. We were told we'd receive the pet deposit back with our security deposit, but did not. We made contact later and were told a check would be mailed. After never receiving it, we contacted again, but received no answer. Problems with communication after the fact and failures to properly refund shouldn't happen. It stinks to finish with a bad taste.
