About our neighborhood:
We are in the middle of Playacar Fase 1, which is a very safe, gated, beach front neighborhood at the south end of Playa del Carmen. Playacar is divided into two phases. We live in Phase 1, which is very small and private in comparison to Phase 2. It is mostly single family houses except for one other condominium and one hotel, both of which are at the entrance to our neighborhood.
We are about a 10 minute walk along the beach to 5th Avenue, locally known as La Quinta. There you will find hundreds of restaurants. They serve everything from tacos or ceviche to French cuisine. The atmospheres range from sand-in-your-toes to high-end, fine dining, and you can spend as little or as much as you want. If you sit at one of the outdoor restaurants, you may be treated to live music by the strolling Mariachis.

I am a US citizen but I spend most of my time here in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. My first trip here was in 1984, but I did not return again until 2004. In 2005 I decided to buy my first property here. Although I still maintain a lake house in Massachusetts, an apartment in Manhattan and an apartment in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this is my home. In addition to the local Mexicans and Mayans, you will meet people from all over the world here. We have had guests from countries like Germany, Holland, South Africa, Israel and others, as well as Mexico, the US and Canada. Everybody who comes here falls in love with the place, and I am sure you will too.

Even though I love other properties I lived at in Playa this property offers me the most peace and tranquility. It has more of a private beach than other resorts and just close enough to town when I want to venture into the excitement. The staff here is extremely friendly and very accommodating to my every need
I fell in love with this place because of the spectacular ocean right in my back yard. The powder soft sand between my toes and the multi-colored ocean waters is enough to make you not want to go home!
Very nice location, a nice stretch of beach is near your room. Quinta Ave. is a 15 min walk away (or a short jog on the beach). The room is pretty basic, but clean and comfortable. The food at the resort is okay, youre close enough to town that dinner out is easy. Sunday nights they seem to have a mariachi band playing, pretty fun. The pool is good, could be bigger. Overall, a very good price for the level of resort you get.
My daughter (5) and I stayed there for 2 weeks in July, we really enjoyed this great small resort. I am not a big resort kind of person and this was perfect. Unit is well appointed, very clean, marble floors, cathedral ceiling, you can cook simple meals and store food in the bar fridge. Washer and dryer, so no need to bring tons of clothes, towels (bathroom and beach) are amply supplied. Bed is very comfortable. Owners were fast at responding to any inquiry and local support is done by lovely Mr. Sergio, who was able to sort out everything for me.
Nice plate of fruit upon arrival, nice touch!
Beach view is fantastic and you really do see it from the bed, and while eating at the table!
I had to bring my laptop to work, and the wifi was decent, so I could work efficiently while enjoying this insane beach view. Would make this my permanent office!
1. It was nice to have a restaurant on premises, however the only breakfast option being a buffet, this wasn't for us. We mostly prepared our own breakfast and lunch in the condo, and ate a la carte dinner at the restaurant. Service was excellent, we had lovely Ms. Marlene every night and she was great. I really enjoyed eating there, my daughter could play on the beach after dinner, the location can't be beat, right on the beach, and food was great.
2. Resort staff was awesome and very respectful, Mr. Anselmo at the towels was great (most awesome towel folding technique I've ever seen!), and Mr. Andres at the bar was always smiling and made really good pinadas and maracuya drinks. Everybody else who worked there was great as well, even the maintenance staff who always nodded or said hi when we walked pass!
3. LOCATION is fantastic, quiet, no bar/noisy street around, most awesome, well groomed beach, clear water, the color of the water is to die for. Side neighbors are million $ private villas (which I buy first thing if I ever win the lottery!), front neighbor is a quaint Mayan ruin in a nice park! A cab ride to town is 90 pesos. If it had not been that humid, we would have walked along the gorgeous street lined with trees and private villas.
4. The pool is right on the beach, so you can enjoy the view while soaking in!
5. This is the perfect combination of convenience, calm and quiet, just right distance from town, beach location can't be beat!
6. I want to move there!!!
I was happy that this studio condo was available for a few of us to stay in for a couple of days before we headed off to our annual yoga retreat. We had stayed in the condo two years earlier and it did not disappoint. It's HOT in Playa in May so the air conditioning was appreciated. We love that we can walk to the main part of town in just 10 minutes and enjoy good, fresh, healthy local food (tacos!). Doug and Penny are wonderful to deal with (prompt, clear communication) and Sergio is a great support to guests - very open and available. I look forward to visiting Fisherman's again in the future!
We are not large, all inclusive resort people so we were thrilled to find this condo on the beach with lots of amenities. It was just my husband and me, so a studio was plenty of space. The bed was comfortable, the AC worked great and we could see the beach from our room. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and always cheery. The beach was gorgeous, the staff did a wonderful job keeping the seaweed at bay. The pool/hot tub was perfect as well. Loved having the restaurant on site so when we were feeling lazy we didn't have to walk into town. It is a decent 10-15ish minute walk to town, which we did on average 2-4x day. So many restaurants and shops on 5th Ave, we never had a bad or disappointing meal. Penny was very quick to respond to any questions/concerns we had. Highly recommend!
My husband and I were up for a quick get-a-way to escape the cold. We made arrangements to stay at this condo located at Fishermens Resort in Playa del Carmen and are we happy we did!! Where to start, the unit was immaculately clean, spacious, a kitchen and a view of the water. We arrived early and they stored our luggage while we made a leisurely trip to town ( about a 10 minute walk) had a wonderful lunch and then headed to Walmart where we picked up some breakfast/lunch items for the week. Each night we walked into towne for dinner at a different place ( there are soooo many choices) walking to town is lovely and town itself is just fun!! ( and safe- no cars!!) The beach is beautiful and one still has the use of the resort 's pools , spa, gym, hot-tubs. The resort has a full restuarant and one morning we ate there, excellent ! The ferry to Cozmel is a quick walk down the beach and both Cancun and Tulum are very close.
I know we will be returning. This place is a gem!!
Our stay was very nice with great beach, staff, pools etc. Located away from the crowded downtown area yet only a 15 min walk to the action spots. Room was comfortable with nice view of beach and ocean. Only complaint would be the noisy a/c unit that kicks on several times an hour all day and night long. Otherwise, I would stay here again and recommend this unit to others.
