About the property

Beautiful Home On Lake Skegemog (Close To Everything)

Need a getaway? Come stay at The Ravens' Nest on Lake Skegemog. Torch and Elk Lakes are only a short boat ride away. Elk Lake can be seen from the back yard and Torch River is directly across Lake Skegemog from the home. These Chain O’ Lakes are famous for their crystal clear, Caribbean blue waters. Want to know why Lake Skegemog is the best choice? The water is warmer due to shallower shores, the lake is calmer and quieter with less boaters and homes, and it is in the center of Torch and Elk providing easy access to both.

Lake Skegemog is an all sports lake and is home to some of the best fishing in Northwest Michigan including an abundance of bass, white fish and perch. The Ravens' Nest is 6 minutes from Turtle Creek Casino, 15 minutes from Traverse City, and 30 minutes from Shanty Creek. The area is known for Michigan’s finest golf courses (The Bear, Elmbrook, Shanty Creek, & Hawk’s Eye), summer water sports, winter snow sports, breweries, wineries, casinos, unique shops, museums, horse shows, and much more!

The Ravens' Nest is a ranch style home with 70’ of waterfront right out the back door. It has a long, paved driveway and is located on a dead-end street. The yard is large and grassy providing plenty of room for relaxation, lawn games, and bonfires. Step down to the water from the small sea wall or jump in from the dock! The water is crystal clear and beautiful. Walk from the shallow, smooth rock shore (bottom becomes sandy a few feet from shore) out to the sand bar. Launch your boat only a mile from the home!

As one of the closest homes to the water, you will have perfect views of the lake from the living room, master suite, or deck when staying at The Ravens' Nest. The home has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a large living space. The living room has a full sleeper sofa and plenty of seating. The kitchen, larger than most on the water, is fully equipped with dishes, small and large appliances, cookware and anything else you may need.

Sleep soundly on a large king bed in the master suite, cozy pillow-top queen mattresses in 2 bedrooms or 2 twin mattresses in the 4th room. Each room has a full size closet and dresser for plenty of storage space. All bathroom and bedroom linens are provided. A washer and dryer are also included. A new grill, outdoor furniture, and a fire pit are available for your enjoyment.

If you grow tired of relaxing by the water, head to downtown Alden, Elk Rapids, or Traverse City for great restaurants, ice cream shops and boutiques. There is so much to do, and everything is so close … you will love staying at The Ravens' Nest!

Magical getaway in Northern Michigan

  • 5 of 5

We arrived in the middle of the night and found the cabin very clean and well kept. It was perfect size for my wife and I and 2 other couples. We loved having the ambiance of the pellet wood stove and used it all weekend. Saturday morning we awoke to a beautiful view of the lake. The trees around the property were covered with fresh snow and driving on the hilly road out to the main road in the morning made for quite spectacular views as well. The ravens nest was located an easy (25 minute?) drive to Traverse City. It was great to experience a lazy Traverse City without all the activity and congestion that it has in the summer time. It was also only a few miles from Sand Lakes Quiet area which is a great hiking spot! Overall this was a great winter weekend get away with friends that was just what we were looking for and we plan to stay again next winter.

Very nice updated home with breathtaking views!

  • 5 of 5

We had the opportunity to stay at this house and were very impressed.

You can tell it has had recent upgrades in the master bedroom and bathroom. Our group had 6 adults and there was plenty of room for us to have our privacy. The dock and boat lift were a nice bonus, not to mention it's only a short drive to the public launch. It's clean, fully furnished and made for great memories. Would we recommend this place? OH YES!!!

Great week at "The Raven's Nest"!

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy when we came across the listing for the Raven's Nest. We had a great week at the large (all the comforts of home) cottage! Bob and Amanda were great to work with! We loved being on the lake! We spent a great deal of time on the water in our 21'deck boat. Having the hoist available was a nice perk. Skiing, tubing, fishing, swimming and going to Elk Rapids and Torch Lake by boat were part of the beauty of the house being on Skegemog. The previous reviews, didn't say much about spending time in/on the water. I was sure to inquire before booking and Amanda was quick to respond with accurate information confirming that Skegemog was a good lake for all of those activities.

One other highlight that I continually noticed throughout the week was the opposite side of the lake from the cottage is not developed. It was refreshing to look across the lake and see trees and nature. We didn't spot the eagles that some have mentioned so maybe we will have to go back! There was a family of Robins in the tree right in front of the deck that we watched all week! Mom and dad worked hard all week to feed 4 babies. I'm guessing they flew away the day we left or the next day.

I am happy that I can highly recommend this listing!

Peaceful Getaway Location!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our overnight stay at The Raven's Nest! It was impeccably clean when we arrived, and very cozy. The vicinity to Traverse City was great, but it always feels like a trip "away from it all". I recommend this for anyone looking for a nice getaway!
