Our cabin was built by my great uncle back in 1934, which we renovated back in 2009. We have been able to share this special place with 100's of guests over the past years
John McLarin purchased this cabin in 2009
Location, location, Location- Our cabin is the perfect home base for all your outdoor activities and adventures in the Shenandoah Valley. Our log cabin is secluded and built on a 100 foot cliff above the Shenandoah River with 35 acres of privacy. The Shenandoah River State Park and the Skyline Drive northern entrance are both only a ten minutes drive. The newly built Canopy Tours zip line was just open in the summer of 2014 which takes over 3 hour to complete. If you’re more interested in water activities; swimming, fishing or boating is all just a walk or 10 minute ride. There are three boating companies in the area which offer numerous options for floating down the river. Did someone say wine tasting? There are over 30 wineries within 30 minutes of our cabin with new ones opening every year. We hope you will choose our home base for a memorable getaway.
The pictures are very representative of this property -- the cabin has a river view, is surrounded by private forest, and is located right within the Shenandoah mountain range. The cabin itself is quite quaint, with a wonderful fireplace with warmer, full kitchen/bath, and a few additional amenities (warming lights in the bathroom, for instance). Having grown up with a winter cabin, I was quite impressed with the ease of lighting/keeping a fire, heating the cabin and using the kitchen. The porch was great to look at stars in the evening. The only downside to the property is the turnoff from the main road, which is at a steep angle when coming from Front Royal. I'd highly recommend a stay here!
Our family of 4 stayed in this cabin over Thanksgiving. It was a wonderful peaceful get-away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives. The stairway/trail to the river was a nice walk, and we saw a bald eagle flying along our treck down! The cabin was stocked with all of the basics that we needed for our stay. We thought the service and linen fees were a little steep, but overall we had a wonderful time. Close to Shenandoah National Park--we drove through on our way out. We are looking forward to another stay in Cozy Cabin again soon!
We loved our stay at Cozy Cabin and would consider renting again if we return for another trip. Some reviews read like it was expected to be a multi-star level hotel. It is not, it is an older, secluded cabin on a cliff in the woods. If you have certain preferences, like the pillow you sleep on or the cookware and knives you prepare to use, bring them like we did. If you forget anything, Front Royal is just 10 easy minutes away. Our favorite part was exploring the stairs down to the water, and the surrounding land. There are only two other cabins on this road/land so you have plenty of room to enjoy the outdoors privately.
Cabin was certainly authentic, but with amenities that make it very comfortable. Will definitely return to this property again
The cabin is clean and very nice. We didn't use a lot of the kitchen but found everything we needed.
The couches and bed have been used. We probably wouldn't have noticed so much but it was such a hot weekend we spent a lot of time in the air conditioning.
Overall we enjoyed our stay.
