About Bob and Cathy Noonan
We have been married for over 30 years and are lucky to have three grown children, who love going to the house as much as we do. We can't go often because of work schedules, so we like to think of other families enjoying the house. Our many repeat guests comment about the cleanliness and suitability for families of River's Bend.
Bob and Cathy Noonan purchased this House in 2014
Why Bob and Cathy Noonan chose Leland
We purchased the Leland River Cottage because of its quiet family-friendly location in the center of Leland and the quiet serene beauty of the Leelanau Peninsula (Michigan's little finger), its sand bottom river and lakes, and proximity to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park and many, many recreational, art galleries and cultural activities. Just walking or biking around the village of Leland is a genuine pleasure with its great restaurants, wine tasting, gift shops, historic Fishtown, access to Manitou ferry, and historic houses.
What makes this House unique
We like to bike, walk, climb the dunes, swim, fish, bird watch and kayak outside. Inside we love watching the river drift by, cooking while enjoying the waterview, playing cards and games. We just enjoy being right on the river in the heart of Leland!

Leland River Cottage
Lovely cottage on the river. The Family times we spent there was very special. Don’t forget to bring a boat, kayak or a bicycle, if you are interested in these activities. We had a hard time renting.
Up North Perfection
This is our third year at the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Our children love hanging out on the dock, swimming, playing football in the big yard and having their own bedrooms upstairs.
The house is extremely well-maintained and the beautiful kitchen is easy to use. We prepared many meals to be shared outside at the picnic table.
We love walking into Fishtown, hitting Nedows and Vans beaches and walking around the lovely neighborhood.
Canoeing on Platte River, visiting the sand dunes, day-tripping to South Manitou and visiting nearby Sutton’s Bay, Northport and Glen Arbor are yearly traditions.
Thank you, Noonans, for letting us enjoy up north and your lovely home.
A little gem on the river!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely house. The location is a perfect distance for walking into town. The house was very clean and comfortable,. The kitchen was well equipped. Loved the backyard with the new Adirondack chairs and the beautiful plantings around the property. The new dock was a plus as we had rent a pontoon for our stay.
Love the river!!
WE had a great time in Leland. The house was great and fully stocked. Hope to return next year.
Perfect Family Getaway
This is our fifth year staying at this charming riverfront property perfectly situated in Leland, Michigan. The open floor plan is made for memorable family gatherings. The grounds are reminiscent of an English country garden and all within an easy walk of several restaurants, the 'Merc' (local grocery store), Fishtown and local shops. The new dock easily accommodates our boat for quick getaways on Lake Leelanau. The owner's pride shines throughout this beautiful property.
The gorgeous Leelanau Peninsula has something for everyone, beautiful beaches, charming villages, wineries, festivals, hiking and biking trails, Sleeping Bear Dunes, historic sites and art galleries. Truly, something for every member of the family.
