You cant beat this location. It is lakefront at its best. It is also near anything your hearts desire. If you like to fish, swim, shop, hike, go to festivals, wineries or just hang, this is the perfect spot. This wonderful cottage is located on the southwest side of beautiful South Lake Leelanau. This is an all-sports lake with great fishing, water sports, and sightseeing. You can explore more than 20 miles of shoreline, visit North Lake Leelanau, or dock your boat in the quaint town of Leland and shop in 'Fishtown'. Rental of the cottage includes free use of our boat hoist while you are here.
The cottage is located on a small access road called Solon Park Road, which is about three miles north of the town of Cedar. It is a two-story house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bedrooms are all upstairs, and one full bath upstairs, and one full bath downstairs. The lake area in front of the cottage is beautiful, with about a two-mile expanse across the lake.
The cottage is directly on the lake (there is no road between the cottage and the lake) and the water is about 80 feet from the cottage. Large trees at the water's edge provide cool shade on summer days. The lake bottom is sandy, with a very gradual drop off (about three-feet deep at 100 feet from shore). The shoreline is grass up to water's edge.
Enjoy wonderful sun and moon-rises from your wrap-around porch. Truly a functional and lovely get-away. Hard-pan sandy lake bottom, great for youngsters to swim and play. No thru-traffic on this private shared road. Open floor plan on main level with durable flooring, spacious entry/laundry room. Charming cottage style decor. Boating on this 20-mile lake seems endless. Spend the entire day on the lake topped off with a great dining experience in Cedar, Lake Leelanau, or Leland by-boat. So much more to experience on this, the greatest all-sports inland lake in the area. The charming village of Cedar is less than a 5 minute drive and only 20-minutes to downtown TC.

About Heather Wares
My husband grew up in this area and I have been here more than 20 years. We just purchased this cottage spring 2015. We look forward to sharing it with our guests. We have two children (9 & 11 yrs old). We love to water ski, tube, and swim in the water. This is a perfect spot. We bought this property because we LOVE the location.
Heather Wares purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Heather Wares chose Cedar
We love that this cottage is an open floor plan with a huge stone fireplace, 2 full bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. There is lots of charm and character. We also love the outdoor spaces. The two outdoor balconies and the wrap around porch with the lake view are hard to beat. We also put in a fire pit for s'mores. Very important;-)
What makes this Cottage unique
The best feature is location, the flat lot, and the waterfront. We like that it is 20 mins from Traverse City, and 4 minutes to the village of Cedar. It is also minutes from Lake Michigan, Suttons Bay, Leland, and Glen Arbor. There are several wineries within a 20 mile radius.

Cozy and charming with a comfy porch providing beautiful sunrise views with the first cup of coffee.
Just adorable and just a bit rustic, which adds to its charm. The lake, the fire pit, the porches...everything you want Up North! Close to both Traverse City and Sutton Bay. Kitchen was well equipped but could use some better lighting for those who enjoy cooking. Ms Wares could not have been more accommodating.
Relaxing and charming lakefront cottage
We loved staying at this home! The lake was right there so we could enjoy the boat and water trampoline we rented for the week. The house was well stocked for cooking inside and out. My kids loved playing cornhole, using the paddle board and making s'mores in the fire pit nightly! Overall great place!
Cute, clean, accomodating!
This cottage was the perfect get away for a girl weekend. We enjoyed a day in Traverse City, but spent most of the time in this adorable cottage. We loved sipping coffee on the wrap around porch and the bonfires and stargazing at night. Comfy beds, well stocked kitchen for cooking. Highly Recommend. If there was wifi it would definitely be 5 stars.
Hey Fiona thank you so much for staying at our place!! We appreciate all the nice things you wrote. However, just to let people know there IS wifi. The password and info is in the guest informational book:-)
Sorry you missed that, I'll put info in a better spot.
This place was very clean! It had everything we needed and more!! Plenty of room for all! Loved the decor, so cute! We will be back!
Perfect property for a getaway!!
It was great! Spacious, comfortable and a wonderful setting! Relaxing by the water was wonderful!
You have to stay here!
This is the perfect summer house. A group of us( 7 adults) stayed here for a long weekend and this house suited us well. The house is spacious and very, very clean. I was nervous that it might be a little cramped with 7 adults but it wasn't at all. The only negative thing i have to say is the 3rd bedroom is a little on the small side. Would be great for kids but with two adults its a little cramped. However, with the amazing location right on Lake Leelenau you shouldn't be spending much time inside anyway!
I would go back to this house in a heartbeat!
There are several wineries within 10 miles. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park is nearby. Traverse City Film Fest and National Cherry Festival is 20 minutes away.
