Stay in the heart of West Side Wine Country - Summit Schoolhouse on Peachy Cyn
Built around 1890 and in service as a one room schoolhouse until 1943, the Summit Schoolhouse is truly a special place. Located on Peachy Canyon Road in the Willow Creek AVA, a main artery connecting many Paso Robles west side wineries, you get to enjoy the peace and quiet of the country, while still being only 15 minutes away from all that downtown Paso Robles and Templeton have to offer. If you have an electric or hybrid vehicle, there is a 50-amp plug for our guests to charge their cars.
Soaring 11 foot ceilings, give the cozy space a large and airy feel, which includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, laundry, great room and gourmet kitchen. Situated on two terraced acres, the outdoor area is dotted with several walnut trees and includes a flagstone patio, handmade wine barrel dining table with seating for 8, bocce ball court, fire pit, native landscaping and Adelaida stone walls. Grilling outdoors on the Weber Genesis E-310 gas barbecue allows you to enjoy a game of bocce ball while getting dinner ready at the same time.
The schoolhouse was carefully restored, keeping all improvements period specific to maintain the integrity of the 110+ year-old structure. At the same time, we were able to add complementary upgrades such as marble and Caesarstone countertops in the kitchen and baths, Viking range and dishwasher, paneled French door refrigerator, Thelin pot belly-style stove in the living room, 55" Sony flatscreen TV, American Leather brand sofa bed (no springs...this one is so comfortable!), Wi-Fi, Direct TV and vintage lighting.
Restoratively, we recycled the 110+ year-old redwood that was taken from the original siding of the house to accommodate the addition, and use it to construct the kitchen island, over-range vent hood, window cornices and various cabinet doors. The original board and batten style wall construction was maintained throughout the new addition space and the original wood-trimmed screens were modified to fit the repaired windows. The original windows with hand blown glass panes and restored rope pulls remain in the main part of the house.
The expansive porch has seating for four and is perfect for coffee or a glass of wine and waving to the frequent cyclers that take advantage of the connectivity of Peachy Canyon Road from downtown to Vineyard Drive. There is also a dry-farmed hilltop vineyard that provides for a great view of the vine cycle from Spring to late November. After which, the area is buzzing with the local walnut harvest.

The Summit Schoolhouse is such a gem. The owner clearly cares about the place and thought of everything! We had such a wonderful time there and will definitely stay here again.
Such a fantastic property with the BEST location!!!
The School House was a great place to stay for our Visit to Paso. It is one of the best locations for wine tasting, right next to some of the best wineries and close enough to HWY 46 that we could get to the coast in on 40 min. The amenities are great, bocci court with real shell base, great kitchen, and so many games!!!

Jodi -
Glad to hear your group had a great time exploring the surrounding wine country, as well as at the house. Those summer nights on the porch or in the backyard patio areas are the best! Hope to have you stay again soon.
Jennifer is the perfect host - helpful, responsive and very pleasant - and this place has so much going for it. Decor, history, outside area, silence. I hope to return for a longer stay and more time at the wineries. Thank you for ending our stay so wonderfully.
It was our second time staying here and it’s still a favorite.
I wish we could’ve stayed longer - morning coffee on the front porch, looking out at the vineyard - there’s no better way to start the day.

Thank you Patty! We feel the same about enjoying time on the porch. Hope to have you back again.
The Schoolhouse is a little gem convenient to the wineries and downtown Paso Robles. The house was comfortable for four adults, well appointed and we would not hesitate to stay here again.
The house and surrounding property is wonderful. Nice and peaceful up in the hills. The house is adorable/ very well updated. The outdoor areas are very relaxing. Nice dark skies at night. We can’t wait to visit again.
This is great property, nestled deep inside wine country. There is a great view of the vineyard from the porch which is wonderful to sit on in the morning or evening. The home has an excellent kitchen area and the bedrooms and bath are also quite nice. Very well kept property so you can enjoy both inside and out. We look forward to booking again soon !
The home is amazing and so peaceful. Really enjoyed every morning on front porch for coffee and relax. The kitchen is modern and well stocked with everything you need, including spices. The backyard with the Bocce court is great. Just perfect - location, setting, and accommodation.
We stayed here several years ago - never forgot how much we loved it! Came back! Love the 2 bdrms and 2 bath. Quiet private location - close to wineries. Great cooking kitchen too! This place is a gem.
We loved our stay at the schoolhouse. So quiet and peaceful. I loved reading a book out on the front porch in the morning, just listening to the sounds of nature. Kitchen is beautiful and well appointed with everything you need to make a meal. The fire pit was super cozy.
Highly recommend!
The best VRBO we’ve stayed at to date. Owners took great care to make a beautiful home with well stocked kitchen and bathroom supplies. Great entertaining backyard and so close to many wineries. Super helpful hosts! Can’t wait to return.

We truly enjoyed staying here on the West Side of PR. It was quiet, fully equipped with necessities but also beautiful features outside in back yard. Our favorite spot was the front porch. We had everything we needed for a fun, relaxing stay in the wine country! We’d love to visit again.

Thanks for the kind words Joanne - hope to have you back soon.
This house was beautiful! So relaxing and well appointed! We plan to make this a yearly tradition. Thank you, Jennifer, for sharing your little piece of Paso with us❤️🍷
We felt at home the minute we returned! The school house is the genuine vineyard experience and Jennifer and Anthony have thought of everything. Its central location in Willow Creek/Peachy Canyon vicinity make it the ideal place for vineyard visits, yet still close enough to town. Thanks for your hospitality!

About the host
Hosted by Jennifer Tesoriero
My husband and I have been married for 20 years and along with our two children, reside in Orange County, California. Growing up, I vacationed on the Central Coast with my parents and grandparents and have continued the tradition with my husband, our college friends and now our kids.
Through all of our various phases of life, we have enjoyed many special times with family and friends from San Luis Obispo to San Simeon. The Central Coast, and specifically Paso Robles and our little schoolhouse, hold a special place in our heart.
Why they chose this property
We love this property because of its historic charm and amazing location. Our family has vacationed on and enjoyed the Central Coast for over 35 years and feel so fortunate to now have a place to call our own.
Our family loves the location on the West Side because it is central to many wineries, downtown Paso Robles and the coast. All of our personal favorite wineries are located no more than 15 minutes from our home and we continue to discover more favorites as the industry expands.
The home and its outdoor space offer such a relaxing respite from our busy work and school routine. Even if we only spend a weekend, we leave refreshed and ready to face the week ahead. Because we can't spend as much time in Paso Robles as we would like, we chose to share this truly special place with others.
