Why Leigh chose Smoky Mountains

Over the years we've hiked hundreds of trails looking for that magical spot where the harmony of nature touched our hearts. We enjoy sharing this special cabin and property with those who long to reconnect with nature at it's pristine best.

What makes this cabin unique

Private setting in the woods. 40 acres to explore with trails and footbridges along the Winding Falls. Our cabin is the only one on our property. It's a little slice of Heaven perfect place to renew, refresh, and reconnect with nature and you loved one.

Enjoy a picnic by the falls or the the fire pit near the cabin. In-cabin Couples Massages by the cozy fireplace can be arranged with local licensed massage therapists.

Beautiful location, secluded, wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Winding Falls. We awoke each morning to a beautiful mountainscape. We walked our two dogs to the falls, had a peaceful breakfast, and then either settled in front of the fireplace or prepared to hike at Max Patch. Overall this was a fantastic vacation, and we would recommend it to any of our friends.

A mountain paradise

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our time at Winding Falls. The cabin was beautifully appointed and had everything we needed. The day after we arrived it rained but we ventured out for a walk on the property. What a beautiful piece of land with the stream and waterfall as well as the great tree house which was big enough to live in!

We did a lot of hiking on Max Trail and the Appalachian Trail and came home every night tired but exhilarated, and spent most evenings relaxing by the fireplace and reading. When you visit, don't miss out on any opportunity to visit the stores and restaurants in the charming town of Waynesville .

We highly recommend the Winding Falls Mountain Cabin and hope to visit again sometime in the future.

Peaceful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Winding Falls Cabin in October this year for 3 nights, 4 days and had an awesome time! The cabin was very cozy and beautiful! Just as we expected from the pictures and the reviews. It was very secluded, but it is what we were looking for...peace and quiet from reality. The owners, Leigh and Wolf are very nice and available if you need them and the cabin was very clean. We really enjoyed the whirlpool tub in the master bathroom and the fireplace in the great room during the cold evenings outside. During the day and early evenings we sat on the porch listening to the birds having some drinks. The average temperature was in the mid 60s during the day and upper 30s at night. There are some great places to eat down the mountain in Hot Springs. We especially loved Spring Creek Tavern and the Smoky Mountain Diner. Trust General store and cafe was also very good for some good old Southern cooking. Next time we stay at Winding Falls we are going to do some hiking and go see the falls. This vacation was for relaxation only and the cabin provided a very homey feeling to do just that. We will definitely be staying at Winding Falls Cabin again. Thank you Leigh and Wolf for sharing your cabin with us! We really enjoyed our time there and wished it was a longer stay. Next time it will be.

Winding Falls exceeded our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Winding Falls exceeded our expectations. We were hoping for a quiet and relaxing escape from our busy lifestyle and those hopes were met and exceeded. The cabin’s interior architecture is beautifully rustic (especially the vaulted finished wood ceilings). The kitchen is well equipped and all appliances were in working order. The furnishings were clean and comfortable. We did not leave the immediate cabin area until the 2nd day and discovered hiking on the 40-acre site more than challenging (no need to drive to another destination). Even though a drought has persisted in the area for quite a while, the stream and waterfalls were still mesmerizing. At night, the night sky is full of stars and planets not seen in the city. We did manage to visit Hot Springs and glad we did as it may be one of the most dog-friendly towns in America. My wife was shopping and the shop owner came out to let me know our dog (and me) was welcome inside! Caution – upon leaving Hot Springs on highway 209, the Speed Limit sign states 55 MPH which must be a joke as averaging even 20 MPG is challenging. The 11 scenic miles back to Winding Falls took about a half-hour. The owner is very responsive and called the first night of our stay to see if we needed anything. In the end, we did not want to leave; we shall return.

A beautiful place to get away from it all!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was a beautiful and secluded getaway for our honeymoon. We could not have asked for anything more. The cabin was fully stocked with everything we needed. Leigh and Wolfe were just a phone call away with any questions we may have had and they always took the time to make sure we were enjoying our stay.

Beautiful Place to Get Away From It All!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Winding Falls. The cabin was a perfect place to get away from it all, yet had all the amenities one could possibly want. I enjoy cooking (even on vacation) and the kitchen was stocked with good knives, pans and a full spice cabinet. Gas grill outside came in handy too. The stream is beautiful and just a short walk down the hill from the cabin. We even tried our hand at fly fishing there and caught a few small trout. Leigh and Wolf called us after our arrival to make sure everything was okay and to see if we needed anything .

In the surrounding areas we enjoyed hikes on Max Patch (great 360 views), and walks / fishing on the Laurel and French Broad Rivers. The town of Hot Springs is small but has a few restaurants. The Hot Springs Spa is a definite must visit.

We knew from previous visits to the area that there were no nearby (<30 minutes away) grocery stores, so we brought a lot of our own fresh food. There is an Ingles in nearby Marshall which we went to one time.

This is a true mountain retreat and that is exactly what we were looking for. I was actually thrilled that our cell phones did not work. The cabin has good WiFi signal and a phone you can use for both inbound and outbound calls.

There are miles of winding roads to get there, but I would recommend Winding Falls Cabin to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and who wants to enjoy time outdoors. If that is what you are looking for, you will be very pleased.

We look forward to returning again in the future.
